KYB AGX Shocks or Strano's Revalved Bilsteins???

Hi guys,

I am looking at purchasing a set of shocks for my 02 WS6 and was wondering if anyone has input on the KYB AGX Shocks or Strano's version of the Bilsteins. I plan on getting Strano springs so I was thinking it would be a good match if I got his shocks too?? Anyway just wondering.....

Also, in all pictures of the bilstein shocks, none of them have the lower spring perch welded on. Are these just sock pictures used to represent what I would get or is that exactly what I'd get and if so

the pic is just a standerd pic not what you will get. and the best thing to do is call sam and talk to him and he can get you going. i can tell you he will tell you that koni's are the best but if you dont have the cash and want to use his springs then his bil's is the best.

Kyb's you can adjust and the bilsteins are a better quality-that's about as straightforward of an answer strano will give you. Both work nicely I have bilsteins and a friend has the agx's.

I just purchased Bilsteins for the front and back of my car.
I had them on my 1995 camaro and was impressed then and now on my 2002. I bought mine from tire rack .com. I think I got all 4 for about 400. bucks, any way just thought I would chime in . These shocks makes my z handle like it's on rails in high speed turns.

Thanks for the input, ya I just ordered a set of Bilsteins from Strano.....I wanted the new rears he uses.

So using stranos bilsteins with lowering springs is OK?

He told me that bilsteins are built to run with stock springs....he said they'll work with lowering springs but will be put under some stress they weren't designed for but that their better built than the AGXs......so I decided to keep stock springs with the bilstein shocks

what he sead the best set up you can put on are cars is strano springs and koni shocks.

What if your car was setup for a DD, along with some drag strip, autoX and drifting?

So who actually has the best pricing on Koni's? As for Bilstein's im sure Sam is correct about them being set for stock springs, however there are a lot of folks out there running them with lowering springs. F-Body and non F-Body guys.

Sam has great pricing, you can check with other sites you just won't get a real person on the other end for most of your phone time.

Has anyone replaced their fronts themselves? Mine are BEYOND gone, and will be getting them replaced.. but dont know if its worth trying to do it myself.. or better to pay a shop to do it.

I did them on mine and a friends. It can be hairy using the spring compressor but just make sure to tighten both sides equally. Before I fully learned how to do it I was watching another friend take apart his, short story his type of compressor had 4 hooks attached to one pin-the pin was almost out with a fully compressed spring and me with 2 other guys were squezzed in a shed what he called a garage

Definatley alot of learning curve you need a spring compressor and a pitman arm puller forget the stupid fork. Or take the whole shock out and take it to a shop that has a compressor.

PPS If you do it on your own they have a strut tool that fits into the top of the shock-I never found out the name of it but it really helps-otherwise it is a whore to get a wrench on that shock with that bushing in the way.

that is what i did to my old truck and will be doing to my car over the winter

ever hear measure twice cut once? it applies here. once i figured out how to get the compressors that I have onto the springs, they were ever so slightly too big, i had a heck of a time lining up all the new stuff. for the AGX's the knobs point in towards the car. and when you are ready to release the tension in the springs double triple and quadruple check that the base of the shock is lined up properly with the upper mount. if it's off even a little you will have a HELL of a time trying to line everything up to put it back in the car. It was a steep learning curve to get it right but i'm sure I can eyeball it much better than the first time i tried them. I must have done my front shocks 3 times in order to line everything up right!!! just take your time and be patient.
