Black- 99 WS6
Whats the lowest you've seen a LS1 dyno?
I found an article on the motortrend website of an 02 ss vs 01 cobra...they said they managed 268 @ 4400 rpm with the ss and 240 @ 5900 with the mustang. did they do this to keep things looking close on power? 268 @ 4400 seems pretty good but it should keep on climbing.

yeah should be around 5200...maybe they just pulled that number to keep some respect for the mustang. i know the 99 cobras had a reputation for not having the claimed hp but i thought they fixed it. 240 to the wheels does not add up to 320...more like 280-290 at the crank.

Yea, most people just look at peak hp and they might of tried doing that, so they weren't lying, they just skewed the numbers perhaps?
I believe the 2000 cobra wasn't made due to some issues, but don't quote me on it.

The 01 Cobra should make 270-275ish at the tires. So those numbers are definitely flawed.

Yea those numbers for the ss have to be off, I just got my car dynoed this past friday for my 00' Z28 and I made a max of 316.8 at the wheels and the only thing I really have is a slp lm2 exhaust and an aftermarket SS hood but that isn't anything as far as numbers go at least not much I think

My car only has a Lid and catback and with a few adjustments courtesy of Frost, I made more than that through an auto w/ the cutout closed. I am doubting their dyno figures.

Ive seen the same mag and read it a few times and its on a mustang dyno. On a MD those numbers are normal on a dynojet you will definitly get higher numbers.
This is directly from the OP's original link on the 4th page
How does this relate to each car's quoted ratings? Dyno-conversion factors are like campaign promises: Anything can be said, and there's a lot of wiggle room afterward. Paxton notes its Mustang dyno unit is more conservative than those of some other brands, and its experience with a lot of Mustangs and Camaros shows the Ford power.

Lowest ive seen on a dynopack is 277 A4 Vert Z28 01 with exhuast, highest ive seen on the same dyno, same day is 330 RWHP WS6 M6 01 BONE STOCK, very rare. Lucky b*stard i wish i could make bone stock numbers like the WS6.

There are too many possible variables to accurately compare different cars on different dynos on different days. The 330 RWHP 'bone stock' WS6 might have made only 290 on a different dyno or a different day. By the same token, the A4 Vert might have made another 30 RWHP on a different dyno and/or different day.
The dyno is designed to be a tuning tool.
FYI on the 99 Cobras....when they first came out, owners were reporting anywhere from ~240 RWHP to as much as 275 RWHP (Dynojet, SAE),which is about what they should make on a 320 HP rating). If this had been isolated, then it could have been easily explained by what I said in my first paragraph. However, there were just too many making numbers on the low side, so Ford recalled all 99 Cobras (the recall was known in Mustang circles as "the fix"). Once the recall was performed (revised computer tune, slightly better intake and exhaust), most 99 Cobras made ~270-275 RWHP (Dynojet, SAE corrected), which is also about what you'll see as an average for the 01 Cobra.
And yes, prevailing wisdom is that Ford did not make a 00 Cobra precisely because of the HP issues with the 99.

^^^This is true, on my 93Z i put up 274, 289, 266 and 267. The 266 was on a dynopack and the other 3 were done on the same dynojet but different days on all. With no additional mods to the car on any of those dyno runs, i put it on because i signed up for dyno days and thought why not, those runs up top were with full bolt ons but shorty headers. I had my very first dyno with just intake and exhuast cut out at 263rwhp which was very suprising to say the least from a 93Z and not a bad number to start off with but the gains werent much after i was done with the car and wished i went with LT's.
