well after having my lap top for two years the screen shit out on me and the back light is toast, now to trasnfer all my shit over to a new lap top and get a new one. any reccomendations? (realistic, i know knghthawk's smart ass is gonna come in with some kinda super gaming computer)

depends on what you want man I will 90% of the time throw out the idea of dell or a toshiba if you are wanting just for Internet crap 700-900 will do you dandy and if you can future prof a little

Or you can get the dell xps 1730 its only 2,600.00 starting :lol:

We buy lots of laptops at work and our IT group usually buys the best deals at the time, but after talking to numerous people it seems the IBM think pad gets the nod as the favorite. I just got a new one with fingerprint security, hard drive airbag, etc. :fire:

If its just for internet and stuff... It doesn't matter... Just go to Best Buy and get one thats a good price and that you think looks cool.

Oh... If you're running vista get 2 or 3 gigs of ram so it doesn't run like the inside is made of sludge.

probably but its gettin harder and harder to find XP

3 ways:

1. Plug in external monitor and then use it.
2. Try to use it without visuals by doing keyboard commands.
3. Remove laptop harddrive and connect to desktop.

I just picked up a 2.4ghz 40GB hard drive with a gig of RAM for free. :D Nephew gave it to me, he had no use for it.
