Have you tried using a clay bar?
I think degreaser will stain the alloy if left on it too long and you will have to polish it. Have you tried a clay bar as suggested or polishing compound? Is it stains in the alloy itself like faded color?
Are these Painted 10 Spokes? Would help to know what wheel/finish
I never knew you could clay bar wheels. I'm going to give it a try on my wheels. See what you learn on this site.
That would definitely be worth looking into.
They look like grimy hand prints. I did a test with Gunk on a small area, left it for about 30 seconds and it did come up good. I just wondered if there was any risk in a more liberal application and leaving it on for longer.
I've tried to get some tar and film remover but I can't seem to find any, I ended up with some so-called wheel cleaner that could only shift the brake dust.
They're the standard 17" SS 10 spoke wheels but they haven't got that mirror finish I've seen on other cars.
I used an aluminium cleaner from eagle one on mine. I've also used degreasers with no damage done.
I usually follow it up with neverdull or mother's aluminium polish.
If they don't have a anodized finish on them try wet sanding them with 2000 grit and then repolish with a quality aluminum polish. If there are any scratches use a heavier paper and work your way up. Their is a anodize remover out there that will strip it off to leave raw aluminum. I did my whole sport bike some years ago started with 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 and hand polished it turned out like a mirror and stayed real nice just clean with straight water NO cleaner and repolish once a year.
It takes a lot of time and elbow grease but when their done they will be like no other
If they aren't painted then they're probably chrome. I would give some chrome polish a shot.
Thanks everyone, it's good to know there's always somewhere I can count on great advice.

while on the subject, i have 10 spoke SS painted 17's on mine and i would just like to know if theres ANY way to properly clean them. i have a rear wheel that is stained with some brown crap and i got no clue what i can do..HELP!
On a painted one just soap and water would work. Could try some clay bar like dena mentioned. Could use a sealer on top to protect them from the road grime
Yeah, I was thinking of my painted 17" 10 spokes when I mentioned the clay bar. Worked well for me.
i used that clay bar on the painted 10 spokes i have not much results though because it looks like my clear coat on that wheel is stained or peeling. gonna try it on the other ones, just sucks when the clear coat on one wheel gets so bad i cant even polish it out. im considering 2000 grit wet sand paper.....OR IS THAT A BAD IDEA??
2000 grit would make them worse. They would have to be buffed out to a shine afterwards to make them nice again. Look around your area for a powdercoater, might not be that expensive and you'll get a nicer longer lasting finish out of it
Try some "Barkeepers Friend" cleanser, it won't scratch, and will do a good job.
