let me be the first to officially inform you of the "search" tool... lol.
Seriously though, yeah, you're bypassing almost all of the exhaust, so it'll be a lot louder. If you have LTs, it may very well be too loud to just leave open all the time, so either go electric, or get real used to laying on your back and fussing with wing nuts!
pm me if you need a brand new qtp 3 inch. i do have one for sale.
i got lt's, ory, no cats and one cutout, i drive 99% of the time with it open, its not bad when crusing around and low rpms but when you :drivin:holly $h!t
its loud!!! i like it. its not as bad as you think it would be just do it, it would def sounds better if you have lt's ive heard them with just manafolds and it doesnt sound as badass. Mr louis has a video of his on here look it up he has two cutouts.
im runnin a 3" qtp elec. and i love it, i just got manifolds now and it sounds awsome, wot is wild, and when a city police drives around just switch er off.
I am in the process of getting the parts for my electric cutout. Can anybody on here share how they wired it and where they tied in for power? Maybe some pictures as well?? Thanks so much for your help.

Have an electric QTP in my SS, works great.
F.Y.I.: Just had my SS dyno tuned and when we ran it with the cutout open, I picked up (only) 4 rwhp but 14 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels.
really:hmm: ive been wanting to dyno mine open to see how much more i lost or gained, i know i lost a little low end torque, i can really feel the difference when it is open but cant stand a quiet car so i run it open
Actually my torque #'s were up all across the curve.
Have Kooks 1-7/8's, ory, B&B Tri-Flo with QTP 3" electric cut-out. The car made 14rwhp peak more decap'd on the squeeze, and showed a substantial increase in the upper rpm's versus closed exhaust. Performance is night and day difference on my car with the cut out open, much better top-end.
mine just seems to pull alot harder when its closed, maybe its cause of the gears:dunno:
where are you all puting them in at? i know some have 1 and others have 2. im geting a set of lt's here sone and was thinking of puting one in to. at the moment i all ready have a magnaflow cat back.
Very helpful input fellas, thanks.
Sorry to hijack, but didnt want to make another post about cut-outs.
Tell me if this would work.
LT's with a ORY, when the ORY connects to form one pipe, place the Cut-Out there, then leave the rest of the exhaust as-is. I don't see a problem with this, but I havnt been under the car to see if its possible.
Any input?
Do you think they would offer any real increase in power with something like the Bassani TD setup?
i was talking to the local ls1 shop and he was saying that it all depends on what you have for power and what cat back you have. if you have a magnaflow you wouldnt need a cut out till you get to the 450 hores mark.
a cut out eliminates the cat-back ..which gives the spent fumes a shorter way out....so a cut out will help any system to some degree..however with a relatively stock engine(ls1) a single cut out is all that is needed...a dual cut out will start to rob power..curtis told me this and i take his word like the word of god
I went through several catbacks befor i found the sound that i liked. It only took a 30 dollar cutout. Placed in the I pipe under the passanger seat. Fits very nice and no issues with speed bumps.
Heres a pic from another member and his cutout.

Will it work, yes, however it might not be the best from a ground clearance standpoint. If you're installing only one, then mounting it in the intermediate pipe under the rear passenger side seat is the way to go.....you'll get plenty of ground clearance, the cutout tucks in nicely and there's a grommet right there to run the wires into the cabin if you choose to get an electric cutout. Not to mention, all of the fumes dump out behind the driver (as opposed to directly under the driver....this will come in handy if you sit in stop and go traffic!
Alright, sounds good to me. Thanks guys.
I still dont know about this... Just got a pro 5.0 and decieded to take a midnight cruise, so i closed the exhaust so not to wake to many people and i SWEAR my car is a fuck load faster when its closed, i couldnt keep the fucking thing from spinning, I dont howerver like how quiet it is when its closed, the stock cme cars (mine) came with a stockish muffler packed with glass ect and even with my headers it is quieter than a fbody with just a catback. i gotta figure something else out, this car is way faster with more backpressure, no one else is having this happen?!?!
