okay
anyone wanna go fishing? the can of worms is open. But heres 2 of my favorites....
1. Layne Staley
2. Maynard James Keenan
maynard is also a good one...great vox
im a huge gn'r fan but i dont know if i can call axl the best frontman ever. damn good for singing and writing songs, but an ego that destroyed everything....just like a great rocker would....hmm, i guess he would be the greatest then
same with kurt...destroyed the band with his selfishness
1. Rodger Daltry
2. Robert Plant
robert plant is great
Plant
i Don't Capitalize anyones name unless its Jesus or Lord Jesus Christ
David Lee Roth maybe?
van halen is awesome...not van hagar
As I sit hear listening to QueensRyche, I just have to add Geoff Tate!
James Hetfield
also another one....not only does he do the singing, but he also plays kick ass guitar...Stevie Ray Vaughan
X2Quote:
James Hetfield
I always see his name in the composer spot when im playing metallica on windows media player. he has good vocals for a Rocker.
Jim Morrison
people claim i look like jim morrison when i have my long hair..
anybody like how jack black sings?
Freddy Mercury
Rickie Medlocke... Blackfoot ..
Fred Durst :Pow:

Back in the day ....,..Gene was the MAN
there are tons of them
geof tate (queensryche) puts on a great act to match the show/story
Phil Alsemo (pantera) just a brutal show man
sebastian bach (skid row) dramatic actor on stage
rob zombie (white zombie or himself) great antics
Sully Erna (godsmack) talented musician, puts on a great show
Dani Filth (cradle of filth) same style as alice cooper and rob zombie
Steve Vai (Vai) great guitarist, decent singer but amazing showman and fronts his own band
Buckethead great guitarist, fronts his own band and nuts on stage.
thats just a few that come to mind
This is about showmanship more than singing?
Then it's hands down Jim "Dandy" Mangrum of Black Oak Arkansas.
Bon Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm goin with Phil Anselmo, Jim Morrison, and Zack de la Roca (Rage against the machine)
Freddie Mercury +2
Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull (till late 70s)
Prince
James Hettfield
Robbie Williams (before he became too rich and famous)
Jimi Hendrix
Don Henley anyone ?
ric ocasek was good, I don't know if any of you guys know or like a band called The Cars. They were big in the 80's.
I gotta go with Axl as well.
I also have to agree with Maynard, Phil Anselmo, and Layne Staley as great frontmen.
Also being a guitarist who idolizes Vai I would not call him a frontman, nor would I Buckethead being another awesome guitarist. I would say a frontman is a singer IMO. Oh and Vai is the best guitar player ever but his vocals are horrible.
Freddie Mercury,he could keep the audience in the palm of his hand.
^^an influental individual who has changed many peoples lives with his songs..
what about the Motor City Mayhem Merchant Ted Nugent ...
cat scratch feeeeeevva
Steve Tyler was good when I saw Areosmith but I say David Lee Roth. Axel Rose sounded horrible live, struggling to do his own stuff.
A lot of great lead men have been mentioned, and from all different styles of music.
But what about Jazz and Blues?
As far as Ric Ocasek, he was OK the Cars had a few good songs, but I never really got into them.
I love the Doors, But Morrison was usually really stoned on stage
Freddy mercury was a Great showman, he really got into the music.
some of my favs are layne staley(aic & mad season),glenn danzig(misfits),ozzy,tom araya(slayer),trent reznor(nin)
Steve Perry
I Vote For Eddie Roxx!!!!!!!!!
sammy hagar on his own puts on a awesome show
phil collins
willie nelson
hank jr
Alice Cooper
1. Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stonesour)
2. Phil Anselmo(Pantera, Super Joint Ritual)
claudio sanchez?
glad to see Medlocke get a vote and Sebastian Bach. Both are great frontmen. I'd also toss in Jani Lane from Warrant. Probably the best frontman I've ever personally seen. He's from Ohio though so when he's here he's playing to a home crowd and is always fired up.
?????????
Johann Sebastian Bach? Great musician and frontman... 300 years ago!!!

Yes Dave Grohl is an amazing musician. Drums, Guitar, singing, song writing, front man. Not too many people can do all of that AND sell millions of records while doing it.
I saw Foo Fighters in Denver in '05 it was an awesome show.
..also saw Nirvana in '92? in Denver as well. both great shows.
+1 Dave Grohl
i read in some magazine that zakk wylde hates dave grohl because zakk wrote a song for ozzy..and was later declined for the reason that ozzy chose dave's song(dreamer)
Donnie Van Zant ... I havent never seen anybody have as much fun on stage as he does .. 38 Special FTW ...
zakk shreds the guitar like a crazy ape...daves lyrics are great
naw i was messing round with the last comment ..but i guess in a society filled with homophobes(not directed towards you)it does seem kinda wierd i said that..but i read in some articles on spin that his lyrics influenced some artists i like..so thats why i stated that
Paul Stanley.....KISS
don't think the best but really entertaining.
dexter holland offspring.
i like scott wieland from stp/ velvet revolver.
yes, i am a huge fan, i meet the band in cleveland one night after a show, got some autographs and pics. they were cooll talked to us for about 30 mins. or so. i have seen them at least 10 times if not more. good guys and great sound. i think they are underrated.

Zakk is the "fuzzy" one ..
