Urine Test

Please read.

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see fit. In order to get that paycheck. I am required to pass a random urine test, which I have no problem with.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to earn it for them?


Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check.


Came across this in a myspace bulletin and it makes a very good point. People on any public assistance should have to pass a drug test if they want assistance PERIOD.

While we're at it, they should probably be steralized, too.

I agree, any kind of state or gov assistance should institute any kind of state policies they have with employment. Hence, if your state requires employers to drug test, then yes if you're on welfare your ass better be getting piss tested as well. The problem is, states like the state of nj for example dont have drug testing policies. Its up to the employer. You know damn well welfare junkies are gonna be crying about their rights and all that nonsense as well.

I can tell you one thing, if they piss tested people on welfare I'm willing to bet 3/4 of them would be kicked off and would be forced to become members of the work force.

All the non, never smoked people can think what they want, but Marijuana is legal in some states for many things. Here are a few things you should know, it lowers pressure in the eyes (glacoma) it is great for appetite (eating disorders, and cancer patients) And before I get too indepth, thc with gets you high, which is in all plants on earth; even lettuce has thc, just marijuana has a high enough concentration to get you high. And if you love earth, marijuana produces more oxygen then trees, its photosynthesis is unmatched. Just a few thoughts.

I'm all for marijuana used for medicinal purposes. But as for "recreational use", I haven't been a big fan since I showed up for a lifeguarding shift two years ago, and the guard that had been there for five hours before me was blitzed out of her mind, falling asleep on the stand.

I think you took the thread too literal. The debate isnt on whether or not weed is good. The whole point is, if they are gonna piss test people that WORK, ie. people that pay taxes, then they should piss test people that collect gov money. Why should I work so someone can stay home and toke? At my old job we had random testing, so I couldnt smoke if I wanted to.

Also, my brother was told he would recieve random drug testing by his probation officer. What did he do? First test, failed it. Dipshit.

So you actually enjoy paying taxes and working for a living so some high as a kite fuck can sit on his ass and collect welfare. The point is if you want assitance from the government you should have to pass a piss test. If you go to get a job for the government guess what you have to pass a piss test. For that matter most jobs in this country you have to pass a drug test to get hired so why should't people who are trying to get assistance from our government.

I am not judging anyone that smokes weed. I have smoked many times in my life and know many people that still do. I now am in a postion in life were everything I have depends on keeping my job so I choose not to smoke anymore and have't in many years. I just think its bs that some bum can get my tax dollars without haveing to pass a drug test.

Personally I think there should be none of this government assistance crap. It would come down to survival of the fittest, but thats a whole other thread we could start.

I've always thought it was funny that I needed a drug test to clean up popcorn from theaters but I didn't need one to be a lifeguard.... doesn't make sense to me :ughlaugh:

I just wanna say that i work a full time job have an apartment a kid 2 cars and i have smoked weed everyday since i was 16 so i mean its all what you do with your life. I work hard and like to smoke a bowl or blunt after a long day of work.

I do agree that they shouldnt be smoking when they are jobless and need money for other things and other people who there are supposed to be caring for like there children. I used to live in a very bad part of Milwaukke my neighbor was the guy who didnt have a job and just smoked pot all day.

if you have enough money to buy weed somehow, then you dont deserve to get welfare.......

I have no problem with welfare recipients having to pass a drug test to get assistance. I think that's a great idea.

As far as what you've said......you did back off a little bit......but let's put it in to perspective. Would you want someone on drugs working along side you on a construction site? Or, since you are/were in the service, fighting along side you??

I think you see the point. When people get fired for failing their drug test THE SECOND TIME, they deserve to be terminated. Period. When people are hired with the understanding that there's a drug policy, they need to decide if they want to work for that company right then. Not after.

You would not believe how many people in the Military smoke, I know more people in all my life that smoke, then people that don't. And with that being said, it is not that I try to find them, you just do. I don't mind working construction (I am a plumber) or fighting by them as long as they are not high at the time, or at work. Just keep it at home were it belongs. I quit smoking, but will probably go back eventually, not because I have to, but because I want to. I personally like it, but that is my own opinion. I was a little rowdy in my other posts, but I was also intoxicated (which does not justifiy anything) which proves one of my points, with marijuana I am never that aggresive, with booze I can be (not all the time).

When you were rowdy while being intoxicated doesn't really prove any point except for the fact of how it affects you, and you only. Everyone is different and reacts to alcohol, drugs, and/or whatever in different ways.

I think getting rid of government assistance all together would be a mistake. It's the abuse of it that needs to be stopped. There's a big difference between the crack smokers that sit at home on welfare and those that receive aid due to a disability or other special need (i.e. Single mother with 2 kids recently diagnosed with cancer and unable to work while being treated).

Take it to the next level: Should you also be fired from your job because your cholesterol is too high and the company doesn't want to bear your insurance risk?

I agree with you, getting rid of government assistance all together would be a mistake. I also believe in what the initial thread starter said. People sitting at home on their asses getting wasted (drugs or booze) don't deserve the assistance.

Now on that i agree need to come up with a somewhat cheap way to do better screenings for welfare and other programs.

got me how this turned into whats more dangerous pot or booze. head the head without things like machinery and motor vehicles conscerned. Alcohol is far more dangerous. Hands down! It put my younger sister in the hospital one night of drinking in college. As far as just the piss testing for welfare abusers is concerned. absolutely, I think they should be tested and booted if they are found dirty. Consider the ability to smoke pot as a luxury. If they have the money for pot then they can get a job. why should the taxpayer pay for them to get high?

Why do people keep taking this thread personally? No one is trying to prove whether it's right or wrong, just those that feel like they have to defend it. The question here is whether people on welfare should have to pass the same tests people at work do to get money. That's it. Not whether it's right or wrong, should be legal or not. You can't get pissed off cause someone doesn't believe the same thing as you. It'll just go in circles if you do, with lots of useless names.
