I don't know about where you live, but in south florida I'm paying 2.95 a gallon for premium gas. A 350Z isn't worth my fumes.

yea... i agree but this could be the only time he'll race me so im gonna have to put a hurtin on him at least once... premium here is 3.15 i wished i lived in south florida haha either way im gonna race him and most likely a bunch of other ricers that dont know what my car is made of haha

Could you ask someone to make a video of that race? Would be really interesting. Over here in Germany there are the competitions between the BMW M3s and the 350Z which in most cases the BMW M3s win. (Although the Nissans are turbocharged and the BMWs not) I would also guess you´d beat the Nissan.

Somebody mentioned a ls2 in a 350z huge waste of money now a ls1 in a 96 240sx awesome results i saw a stock ls1 with ls6 intake manifold automatic in 95 240sx run a 12.09 in the quatermile and the motor was stock.

They really do i once had a guy tell me that since my car makes more torque than HP, he said his 2004 accord v6 v-tec could beat me cause my high end was bad. And since his rpms go higher than mine he could take me top end was his theory. I was so pissed that an accord with just a cold air intake thought he could take me.
Its really sad they way people think these days not only about how fast they think their ricers are but about how slow they think V8s are at top end... I've had soooo many people tell me that they'd get me on the top end... BULL$#!T :growl: These cars have some of the best top end power ever... is it because of the old muscle cars or what... I dont know but its sad what this world is coming to.. kids growing up thinking loud fart cans and wings are cool and make there cars go fast
Ricers think that because their cars have no low end power or torque and only make what very little power they have in the higher revs, that is must be the opposite for V8's. That we only make power and torque down low, and nothing in the top end. Then they are all surprised when they get their asses handed to them on the highway.
Is that why they think like that because it is soo annoying having some little punk in there little 4 banger or v6 telling me they'd get me in the top end

Its funny when you actually race them though, they think they have a chance, and then you just kick their ass by multiple buslenghts.
Well, perhaps they think about 4 valve engines having most of their torque in higher rpm´s than 2 valve engines. But they forget the engine size...

Well its true that DOHC 4V engines tend to have better "top end" than OHV 2V engines, but the GM Gen III LS motors are an exception to the general rule. They make great low and mid range power that pushrod motors are know for, but they also have excellent top end. The LS1 heads flow very well, and the combustion chamber and valve angle are optimal for top end power. The Composite intake manifold and shorty style exhaust manifolds also help a lot with that too, so that the motor doesn't ever run out of breath.
When people say "OHV V8's have no top end", they are thinking of motors like the 305 from the 80's. All torque, no power. They don't realize that the Gen III V8's are completely different motors.

Yes, that´s true. I have such a 305 TPI which is great in lower and middle range , but on high range it´s quite ... well... ;)

I've never raced a 350z but I've beat a G35 pretty bad
350z motors eve heavily modified look like shit all of them even the ones with twin turbo kits keep the stock engine covers makes them look horrible.

Its not even close. The LS1 is 100 times the motor the shitty Nissan "VQ" could ever be. There's about a full second difference between an M6 LS1 and an M6 350Z, stock for stock. A full bolt on LS1 vs. a full bolt on 350Z isn't even worth watching. Huge difference there buddy.
when will they learn that taking grandmoms hand me down is not a race car and can not hang with ls1's simply because they put every aftermarket part that wall-mart sells on it.

Have the ricer cars really died down in the last few years in your areas too or is it just out here. Back in 2000 after fast and the furious came out when i used to drive my GN there was at least one at every stop light with their annoying coffee can exhaust tips. Now it seems like there's maybe a fifth or less driving around town. I see some WRX's and some turbo charged eclipse's around but not a honda accord or civic "tricked" out at every light.
I live in wisconsin they are still everwhere.
Its died down. I still see import hang outs at one place, but when they are not in bulk, I hardly notice them on the road anymore.

Most 350Z's around here don't even think about it. I had one try on the highway and I pulled him real bad. I would imagine now that the car sounds nasty not many of them will try.
There is a black one around here that is supposed to have a S/C on it and nitrous. I want to run him to see what it does. I'm guessing it'll pop the manifold off of it if he runs it hard! The guy has at least 20" wheels on it, lowered and all that crap with a killer system in it.
my point of view is... if your going to spend that much money... get a car with some real horsepower stock and make it as badass as you can... my trans am cost 8k and my buddy got his 350z for 21k.... why? haha

well look at the way we drive these cars. it does not make for the best gass milage. I have the ws6 a tahoe with a 350 and a silveradoz71 with a 350 you would think i would learn and but myself a little 4 banger for work. but there is nothing like a v-8 and i will pay a bit extra to have them. and needless to say I see all the ricers when i am in mt tahoe of truck, which either of those trucks will out run most of the imports around hear. I figure if they cant beat a 7500lbs 4x4 truk I am not wasting the gas money to run them down in my trans-am

I think some inports can be cool if they are not riced out my friend has a 1987 supra mkIII 3.0 with a single turbo he rebuilt the motor replaced the supension the tranny he rebuilt and he got a bigger turbo and rebuilt that aswell he dynoed in at 340rwhp and 330rwtrq and all together he spent 5200 bucks 2400 on the car and the rest on parts. I think his car is fun as hell when we race we are really close i have won and so has he. Plus his targa top is badass.

See, to start off with, both cars weigh about the same, F-body is slightly more give or take.
The new 350Z (300HP) puts down about 250HP at the wheels. A stock M6 LS1 puts down about 290WHP. Not only that, but the LS1 also has the much more flexible and better overall powerband. Its a V8, the Nissan is a V6. Not to mention the F-Body has a solid rear axle and is already set up for straight line racing, so both drivers being equal the F-Body will get the launch.
I've never had a 350Z run anywhere close to me. On the highway we're talking multiple carlenghts.

I think I talked about him earlier.. but douchebag in town with all kinda of stickers on his black one was being an ass.. revving.. and speeding up and slowing ddown next to me... till I finally said fuck it.. and waited till he hit it and so did I... and it was a no-contest match... several car lengths before I baked offf and braked.. then he did the ricer flyby with no look... and that was when I was stock.... wonder what I would do to him now.. :D

I've raced plenty of them, and I've seen other cars race them as well. Its a low 14 second car, high 13's if you're lucky. On the highway, and LS1 will rape a 350Z. I've seen Cobalt SS S/C's with an intake hang with 350Z's from a roll, they aren't that fast at all.
Ok guys i just settled it on my lunch break i raced a 2006 350z m6 on my lunch break which was about 2:00pm-3:00pm central time today so about 2and a half hours ago it was pulling off a nissan lot. I work on a large 3 lane street we both came up to the lights and it was a n employee driving he reved so did i, we looked at eachother the light turn green we both hit it. through first gear i got my rear bumper past his front, through second maybe a car through third almost 3 i would say, i stopped at the top of 4th. Right before i let off i looked back and he was about 5 or 6 behind me then he flew by me at 110+ as i was slowing down.
It says the 06 runs a 13.8 in the quarter.

When it comes down to that its about the driver .2 or .3 faster, i ran a 13.2 in the quarter mile in my car.
I think its cause they realized that there moms lexus and BMWs were faster than there cars, and if your moms taurus wagon is faster than yours, your not all that much of a street racer.

you're still talking about the 04-05 350Z, my coworkers '04 350Z did 13.8x at the track last summer. read up on it bud... the new ones are a bit faster they can pull 13.6 stock really unless a shitty driver which it don't matter what car they drive they're still shitty drivers ;)
both cars are nearly the same exact weight only his has 287 horse and yours is closer to 350....race him from a highway roll if u really wanna embarass him :D
oh I did already, raced him Nov '05 when I was stock, and he bought his a year before. had 4-5 cars on him by 110mi/hr, again he's M6 I am A4. a guy LS1 M6 that knows how to shift while racing would eat him by another 1-2 cars on top.

I've seen some 06 models run as well.
I'm just saying that its not common for them to run times that good. Possible, but not common at all. Most will run low 14's or high 13's, depending on driver. Its very difficult to get one to pull a 13.6. Between the independent rear suspension, lack of low end torque, and stock tires, it would be very difficult.
I wish I took him to 140mi/hr, his high end sucks, LS1 high is awesome V8 baby!
my next friendly match is between a friend's Supra '94 TT 390rwhp but 440rwhp on race gas, and my 402 ls2 475rwhp. :chuckles: he used to whoop me left and right when I was 360rwhp on ls1 block, now it's my turn ;)
he won't race unless on race gas 110 octane or so... ok I'll own him anyways.
I've raced an 06 350Z and they're quick. I've got a Nearly stock 02 WS6, has an Airlid, MAF Sensor, and a Cat-Back and From 75mph to 135mph I pulled probably 6 Cars on him. Mine is not as fast as it could be with a tune-up so you can take that into effect.
to me personally anything faster than high 13s as stock car is pretty fast factory car.
