How many of you have True Dual exhaust on ur f body? If you do, what is your setup and how much did it cost you?
TSP Tru-duals w/sweet thunder mufflers, I am thinking it was around $400 shipped. check www.texas-speed.com
I got true duals through an X, over the axle into two 14" bullets staight out the back.
sorry no pix of mine, but it has dumps before the axle. you can see vids on www.ls1sounds.com there are a couple guys that have the same kind of exhaust as mine on there with vid shots of rear and all.
I do but it is curantly designed for a dual cat LT1 car. I am having trouble with my digital camera(P.O.S.) In 2 weeks I am putting it on my 98 because from the transmission forward it is different but easier to design.
From the transmission back it is the exact same.
It also all depends on what you want. Some guys want the system to be 3" off of the collecter into a 3" X-pipe and then 2.5" out the back. You could also include high flow cats which would cost a little more.
My dual system on my car will be 3" off long tubes into 3" cats then into a 2.5" X-pipe staight out the back. Testing we have done shows that the 3" x flows a small amount better compared to a 2.5" x both into 2.5" talls. The small gain is not worth it considering you will loose ground clearance.
Thanks for the info. I'm not ready to pull the trigger now, but I've added you to my list and will contact you when the appropriate time (and cash ;) ) arrive.
3 more horsepower using the 3" X. I don't have the sheets myself ( my boss has them) but to me it isn't worth ground clearance plus its less complicated to build. And the amount of 3" pipe that you use significantly increases the weight of the system and a true dual on an F-Body already weights alot.
I asked this in the sticky about TD a couple days ago.
How would side exit before the rear wheels look/perform if done with TD? That why they would no ground clearence issuses tring to go under the axle, atleast I don't think anyway.
I am trying to find the post on Z28.com but I am insuccesful. There was a guy who went from a Loudmouth to true dual over the axle w/X and gained 3tenths of a second in the quarter. I didn't do a dyno test of a catback compared to true duals, but using an X-pipe( which you can only use with duals) will make sometimes at the least 10 more horsepower.
Yes, it should be the same.
This is not the finished product.

$375 installed for everything?
There are no clearance issues with the track/panhard bar? Suspension travel is OK? How about if the car is lowered?
There are no clearance issues with the track/panhard bar. Although I do recemend a panhard relocation bracket so both pipes can run over the axle in the same place. Doing so will give a more cleaner look. Suspension travel is fine, no rubbing or anything of any kind. I even drove the car down a rough road really fast to see if it would bottom out.
The car is a 97SS, which is the lowest sitting F-Body produced from 93-02.
How do the bullet mufflers flow? I am not really familar with them, and does the PHR have to be relocated?
The bullets are from Pypes Performance Exhaust. Its basically louvers inside that the exhaust flows over.
BMR makes the relocation bracket and support. Here is a link
http://www.lmperformance.com/4336/1.html
Bullets flow average.
Is that system mandrel??? If so...$375 is a FREAKING STEAL!! :yup:
My set-up.
Kooks 1 7/8" longtubes, QTP 3" cutouts, 3" duals into a 4" X-pipe, into 2 1/2" to clear the Moser 9", into 5x8 Magnaflow mufflers.

So with the relocation kit I am looking at over $600 for the setup, trying to keep price down, the $375 sounds good, relocating the PHR almost doubles it. I'd rather use the $600+ towards heads to be honest. Again, does it have to be relocated to work? Or is that just to make it look good? Thanks again, appreciate your help, and are they mandrel bends or crushed?
Cutouts = $75
Duals (non-mandrel) = $600
Mufflers = $160 for both
Kooks = $800
Didn't want to choke the stroker. :yup:
And thank you!
I had it on my last z28...it was a shitty ass 1 1/2 inch over hte exhaust though
I might be heading your way in a few months to get this done, what if I wanted to buy some Magnaflow mufflers myself and bring them with, same size as the bullets, would that be alright? Just knock off the bullet price from the $375, think the bullets are $45 or so a piece? Wanna keep the tone down a little, and I know the magnaflows flow well

How will these work?
Do they have them in 2.5"?
They fit better with offset in/out.
Will probably also require a little beating on the underside of the car to get them to fit.
Forgot to mention that last night Hurley...I was buzzed.
Opposite sides.
I will try to get a pic later this afternoon of mine.
thanks Luos for the help, would like to go with something quiter than the bullets without sacrificing flow. Any other Magnaflow mufflers out there that work?
9t6z28----clear ur pm box
Not sure if these work, but it isn't easy to get pics under a lowered car.
Wasn't about go through lifting it for a couple pics.

OT completely but can you post a side pic from the back to the front, your offset looks sweet. It can't be stock, huh?
The wheels?
Back to front of the whole car??
bassani tru-duals on both car. T439 stainless steel run all the way out the back. cost 949.00 pics on my webpage
Bassani stainless steel true X duals here.
i have custom TDs on both cars the 93 is 3" with singel channel flowmasters dumo befor the axel(i love it but the wife HATES it) and on the 00 under axel spin techs(was on it when i got it and im doing my best to change it!!!)
TSP Rumbler True Duals on my '02.. other than wanting a few more inches of ground clearance so I could drop the car an inch or so... I love them... a BREEZE to install too!
I had true duals but have since switched to the GMMG catback and I'll never go back.
I have custom duals with an x-pipe and two dynomax bullets dumped at the rear axle.
There's a couple reasons. Without paying a lot of money you can get a true dual that'll go all the way to the back of the car so it get's to loud when driving down the highway since it exit's right behind you.
But mostly because you lose to much ground clearance with it.
Personally I like the sound of my GMMG better than my true duals with chambered mufflers but sound is subjective so other's will like the sound of the true duals better.
How much is the GMMG catback?? You can get a true dual exhaust fabbed up for around $400, which goes all the way to the back of the car.
Ground clearance?? Ask 9t8z28 how much ground clearance he lost with his true dual setup, which is routed in the stock Y-pipe location. His answer will probably be none, because it doesn't need to go underneath anything. Same with the Bassani True Dual setup.
I've never heard a Y-pipe exhaust that sounds better than true duals. There's only so much you can do for sound and performance when you have all the exhaust gasses from both cylinder banks merging into one single pipe. I'll leave it at that.
I have plenty of clearance with my duals and I am lowered with the prokit.
Nope..no alterations needed for me. Lined up perfectly.
Representin the TSP TD's w/ Bullets, under-axle with mecham tips here!
Damn.. same color.. same year... same exhaust.... I think I just found my twin! :D
I got the Bassani duals kit. $779 shipped. Easy to install, sounds great, no drone, and made a very noticeable performance improvement. VERY satisfied.
it's worth every nickel. i have two of them. i got the more expensive T439 stainless steel version.
Bassani cost more than I really wanted to spend ($780), but I absolutely love the sound, look, and feel. Worth every penny to me.
I browsed LS1sounds for days. I was looking at the Flowmaster American Thunder catback sound first. The Flowmasters were going to cost me $325 and the y-pipe was going to run another $150. I wanted true duals, but no one around where I live could make me an over axle setup. I met mrr23 here running the Bassani setup and saw where it gained 15rwhp and several mph in the quarter over a catback. I figured the extra $300 for the extra HP gain and to get what I wanted worth it in the end.
it's all in a matter of preference. over the borla i had on the wife's car , it is much quieter inside the car. plus the 15 rwhp more i got from it.
I have TD's that some moron put on ( I was referred to him and would never again go to him). Flowmaster 1 chambers. I had clearence issues when I was lowered (intrax 1 1/2) but not now. As soon as I get my headers I am redoing the driver side and going with an X. But I think I'll just stop at turn downs don need anything over the axle.
might want to check local laws about where the exhaust can exit. some states require it to exit past the passenger compartment. so, dumped before axle might get you into trouble one day.
Unless you live in a small town like me where you can run open headers and cops won't even look twice
can you fit true duels under a car with SFC's? I'd consider doing it if I could get a set up for under 600 bucks.
I have bmr sfcs. :)
Same here. My exhaust shop fabbed mine for 250 (he initially charged 400 however I was unhappy with his results so I got it for 250 after I told him to put my stock back on). Find a good shop they can probably do it for less than 600 just take pics of someone elses to show them how its done.
I have 3 pt. SLPs. :/
True Duals kick ass!!!!!!!!!!1
I still can't believe how much torque they add. The only problem that I have now is no traction!
$800

3" TDs, bullet mufflers, no cats. i love it :D
9t8z28:
thats a hell of a deal. hows the ground clearance?
..so far mine is on the top 10 best cearanced ones i've seen on forums for 3"
SIK02SS, do you have a picture from after the axle to your tips?
Looks REALLY clean by the way. Probably the nicest I've seen.
thanks!!
no not really...this is the closest i have. sorry
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...s/DSC01898.jpg
That works, thanks.
thanks man! i appreciate it, its my 2nd setup..1st one pretty much banged and dragged and sucked. i payed the price for this one for sure..the lowest point is the header collectors so when i do suspension it wont drag. it doesn't hit/bang/scrape nothin, just like stock:woot2:
Any videos of this setup?
its posted above, but here you go:
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...h_MOV01900.jpg
i used to have a cold start video, but i think it's lost with my music when my lap top got fucked up at best buy:growl:
bottomed out my suspenison t the bump stops yesterday...still didn't scrape or hit anything with the exhaust :)
looks good! Doubt you'll be able to fit a aftermarket T-ARM on it (UMI for sure) Hell with my 2.5's I couldn't even run an X under mine without it hanging down some.
i have them but i have not put them on yet...
bought them for $300 new, never installed...
TSP True Duals w/Sweet Thunder resonators. if i dont like it, i will take it off and sell it, and put my LSP LM back on (current catback on car and LOVE IT)...

nice, what torque arm is that?
