what kind of budget do you want to stay in?

Listen to the different combinations & do your own thing.
There is no 'Best' for one & everyone.
It's all a matter of opinion.
Hooker---Under $400. Good rumble at idle, nice at WOT. Not obnoxiously loud, sounds great with headers. Not stainless though, costs under $400
Magnaflow---Betwen $400 & $500, stainless exhaust, similar to Hooker, prol a tad bit louder. Some members have complained that with headers and ORY it becomes a bit raspy.
SLP Loudmouth--As stated, pretty loud and gets VERY loud with headers. Flows well and should still be under $400.
SLP LM 2--A little more tame than LM1, still has a nice rumble, and good cost.
Stear clear of Flowmaster, doesn't flow well but sounds pretty mean.
All of the above should be under $500, most of the other systems like GMMG, Corsa and Borla will run you more than that.
I had a Borla, and a Bolra ORY to raspy and a little louder then stock, Then I had a LM and it was just right, then I added a cam, and headers and it was WAY TO LOUD.I now have a 4" Mufflex with a Spin Tech and it's awesomestill a little loud but it just sounds mean.I may sale my Mufflex and down size to a 3" just to get rid of the extra weight from being 4", but www.LS1sounds.com is a good place to start.Oh the Mufflex will run you about 650.00 for the catback.Or you could just keep you stock set up and get you a ORY, and headers and then add a cut out, that sounds good too.....
i wanna stay around 400 dont have a prob spending less tho
I HEARD that SpinTech just came out with an ls1 cat back
spintech sounds great especially their mufflers on a true dual setup
I just looked on summitracing.com and an edelbrock cat-back is $289.88, before being shipped. Part number is EDL-5772. It's aluminized instead of stainless. But for me living in colorado, its not much of a concern. Not much need to be concerned about rust out here, just freezing to death.
You can look at summitracing.com and look at an edelbrock system ( EDL-5772). It runs for $289.88, before shipping. Its aluminized steal tubing, but I don't have to worry about rust here in colorado, just freezing to death.
Is there an echo in here?
:nana: i have true duals with nothing but straight pipes and it sounds great..
What part of Florida do you live in? I lived in Key West for 4 yrs, there is one place in Marathon that does pretty good work. IIRC the name of the place was Muffler Man, ask for Rob.
They do sell Flowmaster but I really wouldn't put that on a 4th gen, just my opinion. Howevere I had them on 3rd gens. I also like the way Borla sounds. Matter of fact thats probably all I'm ever gonna go with.
Well my brother has a Gibson on his Dodge but thats a different story.
Im in the treasure coast... im think about getting loudmouth
If you get loudmouth, and don't have any major mods, retain your stock headers to keep it mild, but when you start getting into heads, cam, and other motor work, opt for the long tube headers, but you might then want to swap out the SLP resonator, with a borla or dynomax bullet to tone it down a bit. Depends on how loud you want to be without it sounding obnoxious. A buddy of mine has Pacesetter LTs, no cats, ORY, and Loudmouth, and loudest, highest volume, and raspy exhaust i've ever heard on an LS1.
I went with the SLP loudmouth 2 ... the nice thing is that if the bullet muffler isn't ballsy and loud enough for you, you can just swap it out with the resonator ($80 separate purchase) for the LM I sound... After I slapped the LM 2 on, she sounded nice, deep, loud, and definately turns heads... I found no need to buy the resonator and fell in love with the LM 2 outta the box. Just my opinion...
Do you have after market headers w/ your LM 2 -T/A SYCO?
I vote Corsa. It's pricy but sounds mild till u put ur foot in it . Then ur calling out everyone and there brother. If ur stuck on the 400 or lower go loudmouth , i have a friend with twins and about 20,000 in his motor and it still sounds great.
no... just stock. But I was worried that the LM2 would be alot "tamer" than the LM1, but it is load and throaty.... I would say almost the same as LM1, without the raspiness... I don't know if anyone in here is running LM2's w/ headers, but I think the LM2 would supress the raspiness and "too loud" note of the LM1's....not sure, but I'd ask around....
So I order the loudmouth exsaust cant wait for it to get here!
Cool, I'm lookin into headers and trying to get feedback, I think LT may be too much fow what I want, I currently have just a borla exhaust, all stock before that, I may be think about mid-lenght headers now instead of LT
Got any pics of your car?
shes my g/f her car is my avatar thing
awww, how sweet!
lol so my exhaust got done tonight sound fuckin amazing compaired to stock!!! LOVE IT!!!
So you painted the car red? Loudmouth rocks!
What color of red is that? Definately different. nice.
Hey AshleyRocks, what rims are those on your ride ???
Thanks in advance
T/A Syco the rims are from american raceing im not sure what they are called tho.
[MEDMy car is all stock right now and I just installed the Loudmouth with slashed tips. To me it doesn't sound that loud, is this because the rest is stock? How could I get it louder at a low price? Deffinetly has a mean tone though!
hmm i donno what u consider a low price anything would chang the sound ..headers...
change the sound 4 $100.......try a cut-out.
OOBLKCONVT I have a 98 Trans am Convt ws6 m6 When i got the car it was all stock. I also put SLP loudmouth it was ok but just not right yet.
So i beat the cats out that made it louder. Mabe thats what your looking for. I did away with the stock manifolds and gutted cats went with stainless headers hight flow cats off road Y pipe. Now it sounds pritty sweet.
So what im gettig at is you can have my gutted cat instead of gutting yours. You may need them in the future.
AshleyRocks I love the red color very sharp. I used to live in florida Vero beach

http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40417 check out this, its a great deal for what u gettin seems like pretty good feedback, ill be trying these out in the next few weeks will post with install photos.
I got some pic's but i need some help. I have them saved on my computer with kodak Easy Share. but i cant get them on this sight. any help
go for the loudmouth, im another chick with a trans am...it sounds great for the price...but i am about to put pacesetter LT's on with a 3 inch y, and the resonator may be a problem, so if your plannin goin that route down the road, i would go with a loudmouth II with a cutout before the muffler
Something about chicks and fast cars that drive me nuts:nana:
yea i figured down the road i have to chang out some stuff
im gonna have to get a borla bullet or something like that, god knows ill get pulled over 24/7. hate jersey cops :cuss:
yea cops have been every where lately..
I have SLP Loudmouth and it's Insane!! Get comments on my car all the time, even wake up my gf's brother comming down the street in the morning. Has a siick tone to it as well.
yea lol the other day i dropped this girl off at her parents house and her dad started bitching saying that she lied and was out with some guy all night.. his reason for that theory was"girls cars aren't that loud and dont sound like that"
loudmouth is a delicious choice i had em on mine before i got headers and it sounded mean, too loud with headers.
Corsa!!! But if your on a budget the Magna Flow is not a bad cat-back.
1 bad ass bow tie..haha i love that
No to the Loudmouth or Flowmaster.
Yes to Magnaflow, GMMG, Corsa, Hooker, etc...
i hate flowmasters on t/a but i actually like my loudmouth but it was also right in my budget
I had the Loudmouth ages ago.
It was a mistake for me because I modded past just a lid and catback. I ended getting rid of mine. Didn't sound good with a cam and headers.
It did sound great when I had the stock manifolds though.
Price is subjective. The Magnaflow system isn't much more, if any, than the Loudmouth.
Flowmasters don't sound bad...system just doesn't flow enough for much performance.
no offence to any SLP peeps, but 75% of people on ls1.com have the LM or LM2, and based on what ive heard at ls1sounds im not impressed, when I get around to buying an exhaust system, im saving up my money a little longer to buy somthing better, im with Mr. Luos.
yea i already figured i was going to chang shit out when i started doing real mods. but for now it good to pick up some cheap horse power
man today went from so great to shitty in a matter of hours :( but at least i still have ls1 and my car
Hey I'm from Htown, right next door to you :)
I work at Advance Auto, so if you ever want to stop by on the weekend and say Hi I'll be there.
As for the exhaust, I'd go with True Duals. Its expensive enough to do a full exhaust, might as well go all the way and get the benefits of better sound and more power while you're at it ;)
My next Fbody is gonna get MidLength Headers and True Duals, just need to find a good set up that's Over the Axle....if not it will be Bassani all the way. Nothing sounds better IMO.
