I'm planning on buying a set of Bassani shorty headers w/ the Y pipe and high flow cats. I need some feedback on this set and what is the difference between the long tube headers and shorty headers? Any feedback or information will be helpful...

if you're going to take off your stock manifolds for ANY reason, you should put Long Tube headers on. they offer probably 10-15 more hp than shorties, keep in mind they arent legal in all states but they will be the best bang for the buck, if you go with a brand like pacesetter

I thought Bassani made mid legnth headers for LS1 f bods. If they are shorties then I disagree. Total waste of money and effort.Quote:

They're either shorty, mid or long tube headers. I don't care what Bassani calls em. There is no "optimum" legnth header.Quote:

They are definately not carb legal. Mid legnth headers move the location of the cats just like Mac mids and long tubes. The Bassani "mids or Optimums" whatever you wanna call em cant use the stock y pipe and cats. Wont pass Cali emissions.Quote:

If you're going through all the trouble of pulling the stock manifolds, removing the cats, and changing the Y-pipe, you'd be foolish not to get LT's :yup:
his situation is he's in california. even bassani's won't pass cali emissions. i think only the JBA will seeing as they don't move the stock cats from where they are located.
glad i dont live in cali sometimes i like to think its not even part of the rest of America haha kidding but about the only good thing to come out of cali is hot rodding. question, if you cant run long ubes in cali cause it changes the position of the cats how does that affect the emisions as long as you have cats?
the further away from the motor, the less heat is generated to make the cat work properly. so, it takes longer for the cat to get up to operating temp, thus increasing emissions.
