I think about 137 mph in a 99 trans am once. Just late at night no one around.
Although, I've moved alot faster... once I was going around 380 mph, but that was in an airplane on my way to Florida.
i went 147 on my way to south padre island whith 4 people it the car and the t-tops off windows down. i almost wrecked. was stupid. i have went faster in a friend race car but dont know how fast we were going. i wouldnt like to lie i think it was about 200+Quote:

I have had several cars well north of 160mph. A Diablo, 911TT, 360 Modena, Mercedes E55 AMG (limiter removed). I had my R1 to a speedo indicated 205mph but on a motorcycle that was probably more like 180 or so.
Gone up to about 145mph until traffic appeared in a race with one of the newer sporty caddys, never saw which model it was exactly but it surprised me, although it never got in front of me.
Only maxed it out once cause I was angry after losing a grand at the casino, pinned it at 155+ for a few miles, next day came out and had no power steering, blew the pump for some reason so I don't do that anymore.
Not positive but I am going to guess about 150. I had a supercharged 89 mustang and the speedo only goes to 140. The needle was way past that.
ive had the camaro to about 135-140 with the stock gears, my 05 gsxr 750 has been to 165
130-135 t-tops off and windows down with the girlfriend, kind of scary wont go that fast again with no tops

Been over 150 miles an hour over 100 times in numerous cars. Back home we used to build hiway monsters. Remember the old cars with hiway gears. 75 Cordoba rank 12:1 440 would do 150 mph uphill. 73 challenger Done 340 7000 rpm in fourth 3:23 gears and 255 60 R 15s. Speed unknown very fast. 89 gta was very unstable over 145 mph. This ls1 hiway monster has been over 150 more then once. If this sixth gear was shorter I bet this car could touch 180.
130. In a v6 car. 1995 Probe gt 5 speed.
130 is cookin when you are on a freeway. I had two buddys with. I would never go in and out of traffic at that speed though.
If I want to see how fast the 87 Trans Am with the Ls1/t 56 swap is, I will go to the track.

Yesterday, as a matter of fact, some crazy fucktard was riding my ass and I swear, tried rear ending my Camaro. The wife was like WTF is this guy doing?! I told her I didn't know and that I was going to let him pass. Well, he didn't. Must've thought it'd be more fun to play dumbass games with me. We were on a 70 mph highway and I slowed to 50 to get him to just pass and go away. When he didn't I'd had enough. I took every gear but sixth to 6k. The last time I looked down I was passing 140 and I was still in it for a little while.
so far 135mph on my 06 stang GT while cruising with chicagoland mustang club on our way to byron dragway!

188 in a 1990 Vette, Lingenfelter 383, SUperram, 3.33 gear, 150 shot....pretty well topped out at 188 on motor. Front end gets a little light at 170'ish.
Have gone 150+ in my Camaro numerous times, feels like a death trap compared to a IRS Vette. Even an old 1990 Dirk Diggler!

Had the 01 Cobra at 155 mph, and the Z28 up to 150 mph with 4.10's a couple times. I don't like to do that with the Z, I get a weird vibration above 145 mph.

Really, people, get serious.
Most cars - even FAST ones - aren't geared to run much above 150.
Cars with engines and powertrains modified to hit those speeds - aerodynamics seriously are going to hinder you over 120.
Alot of actory cars that are CAPABLE of exceeding that speed are electronically governed.
Aerodynamics comes way more into play than anyone who hasn't really travelled at those speeds realizes, not to mention, your standard street tire and balancing are going to be vibrating uncontrollably above 100.....

I've seen some well put together 67's trap 120+ and then some in the 1//4. Even stock, the old 'maro should be able to cruise at 135+ - but the suspension certainly isn't your friend at those speesds.
Brutal amounts of horsepower can overcome the lack of aero to a point. :)
Your standard fair civic, cavalier, corolla, etc. - the window seals start howling at about 110...front end starts feeling squirrelly.....brakes fade bad....steering wheel gets jittery.... Not that I've ever...um...done that sort of um...thing...be...um...fore. Yeah. :D
I was a passenger at 130 in a one family owned restored 70 hemi challenger. It is a 472 stroker that looks stock. Hold on when you open the second carb in 4th gear. Dynoed 530 at the crank. Fastest driving was around 115 in my 99 dakota r/t. The satellite gets scary above 100(4 wheel drums)ha. :no:

Did you see my mods? I have no idea how fast I was going, but I know it was around the 200 mark. I will use my neighbors gps and get an accurate top speed. I am over 500+ at the tires, and my red line is 7400 rpm. My car is a beast. I have 342 gears. I dont think the drag is an issue. but hey i might be wrong. Had an old 89 ZX10 (Kawasaki) had a few goodies in it, dyno'd 147.3 at the wheel. I think the speedo went to 195, I KNOW bikes are not that accurate, so when I think it hit 200 I was probably more like 180s but I took that beyotch as fast as it would go on Military Trail outside of Boca Raton FL. at about 2 am.. Lemme tell ya... cars on the highway feel like they are Racing AT you at those speeds..Weeee ( dumb as it gets, but I was a teen ager back then and thought I was invulnerable ):brick:
