Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has ever used the Pro 5.0 shifter for the T-56 and how they liked it. :help:
Does anyone have a particular shifter they just love? Would like to hear that too!!
Thanks for any info!

B&M Ripper Shifter!
I like em. Haven't missed 3rd. yet.
ya, hows the 5.0 for the vette? and wheres a good place to buy it?
I would assume there just as good? I picked up mine from speed inc. Try them.
i've got one. its great! I’d recommend it!
Thanks for the info everyone!! I appreciate it. I think I will try one.
The reason I was asking is that I tried a cheap knock-off type shifter from eBay (cost only like $35 shipped) and it does help some, but I just don't like the cheaply made feel of it. If anyone else is considering one of those shifters on eBay (there are LOTS of them) put your $ toward something decent. :drivin:
yes, i think they are all short throws and yes i believe the shifter is included
i have a pro 5.0 with a lou's short stick and its awsome,
got them from afterthoughts auto

they have a package deal so your not buying stuff you dont need.

afterthoughtsauto.com is where I got mine. its great like I’ve said... 100% improvement over stock... you'll have a hard time missing 3rd... I know I had some trouble getting my stock shifter into 3rd... the Pro - 5.0 salved the problem
could cleaning the stock shifter help shifting easier or can that be done?
love it, espically with lou's short angled shifter
Before I installed my Pro 5.0 I could not powershift into 3rd without grinding or missing it all together. I installed a B&M in my friends SS and did'nt like the way it looked compared to my Pro 5.0. :burnout:
I've heard some good things about that shifter.
I have the Pro 5.0 and i like it, havent missed a shift yet and the quality is better than some other aftermarket shifters for the T56. It feels really solid and stout and has about 30% less through than stock but i think i would like to try it with the short stick
doesn't matter, the angle keeps the original profile of the 5.0 but both work just fine, it's a personal preferenceQuote:

What I did was took the original shifter handle that comes with the Pro 5.0 and cut about 1/2" off the threads. There are a lot of threads on that handle and you can safely cut some off (as I did) and now the shifter sits in the perfect spot for me.
I put that Lou's short stick on & I hated it (but many people like it). I'd sell it cheap (can't remember what I payed for it, but whatever it costs brand new cut that price in half and it's yours + shipping). I used it for like 2 weeks then took it out. It's sitting in a box in my basement somewhere.
The short stick was just too short and I didn't like the feel compared to how I have my Pro 5.0 right now. I believe I have the angled one but I'm not 100% sure because I haven't seen the thing since I bought it in 99'. When I get home from work (6:00 PM EST) I'll dig it up, snap a few pics and then post them so you can see what I've got. As for the price, I'd have to do a google search and find out how much it costs new (I can't remember what I payed for it back in 99' when I bought it. So if it's the one you would like and brand new it costs $40 + shipping, I would sell it for half of the new price...so, $20 + shipping. I would imagine it's cheap to ship, probably like $5 or something like that. I'll look for it when I get home later...I've gotta find where it's hiding before I can do anything else. :)Quote:

Totally worth the investment, especially for your poor synchros when you miss gears due to the crappy stock shifter
Definitely go Pro 5.0! I installed a Pro 5.0 in my 01 WS6 3 years ago and its my favorite mod. I would say 95% of people prefer Pro 5.0 over any other aftermarket shifter. :yup:
Ok, I went into the basement and found the "Lou's Short Stick." I've got the original box it came in and everything it came with. It comes with 2 lock washers, the shifter handle, and instructions. Here's Lou's website: http://lscamaross.8m.com/lous2.html. I have this one: 52502A-BLK - $47.00 - Fits Pro 5.0 Shifter (Black finish). It is the angled one. The instructions (they are on his website as well) says, "Fits M6 Stock, factory Hurst, SLP, aftermarket Hurst and Pro 5.0 shifters." I would have posted pics yesterday, but my girlfriend took the digital camera to her apartment and didn't tell me.:( I will post pics as soon as I get a hold of the camera which will be later tonight. Once you see the pics and if you would like to buy it I would imagine shipping costs the same for me as it does for LS Concepts which would be:
Standard: $5.75 - Priority Mail (approximately 3 days).
Optional: $17.00 - Express Mail (overnight to most locations).
So it depends on how fast you want it (I'd recommend going w/ 3 day shipping because it's more cost effective, but if your in a rush that's cool too). They want $47 for it brand new, half of that is $23.50. So for $23.50 + (Your choice of shipping method) it's yours! I'm sorry about the delay, I'll get pics up as soon as I get the camera later tonight. Then just look at the pics and make sure it's what you want and we can work everything out from there.
Just took 3 quick pics. Sorry, I didn't scale them down or anything and they are very large (7.1 Megapixel camera). There's the directions, 2 lock washers, and the shifter handle. Let me know if this is the one you want.

Where is the best place to buy a pro 5.0?
There is a package with the LS stick at afterthoughtsauto.com. I don't know if they are the best price. http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/pro50towshif.html
Thats the stick that comes with them?
That's the one that comes with it. It doesn't come with a knob though. That's how I bought mine. At times it seems to short for me, but other times it's perfect. I heard that people that auto cross like a taller stick and drag racers like a shorter one.
I mean the one on the ebay site it looks funky.
Fuck, I remember the Pro 5.0 was my first mod. And not only was my stock shifter shitty, but it was in bad shape. Every time I shifted with any speed going into 3rd, my shifter would slide out of its hole and sit in neutral..
In case you dont know what I mean by "hole," picture your shifter. First gear to you is upper left, but really its lower right. Its opposite end, under the weather protecter is inside a "cup" and it appears to be made of plastic. Well, its edges were worn away, so every time I shifted fast in an upward motion (1st, 3rd, 5th...R), the opposite end of the shifter would slip out of its cup and basically register no gear since the cup moved back to center (N). Needless to say, I replaced my cup with a new one, but I did it at the same time as the PR0 5.0.
About that, comparing the stock shifter's opposite end to the Pro's will show a significant difference in length. Though the top part, what we use to shift is shorter, the bottom part is longer. Thereby securing the shifter tightly and safely in the cup.
Well, I could say the exact same thing about the B&M Ripper on my 2000 SS with the M6. Next best thing to an automatic, as far as going from one gear to the next with ease, IMHO. Only the Ripper does not self-center, so you really want to shift sequentially with it....
My pro 5.0 totally changed the feel of the car, not even kidding. If you wanna make it even better, make sure you do the drill mod next time you change the slave cylinder. Now its impossible to miss 3rd! ( the drill mod writeup can be found here http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm )
yes the pro5.0 is the best. Its that simple!
Installed mine yesterday it was a huge difference I love it.
I also used the pro 5.0 stick and cut about half the threads off its just right.

That shifter is awesome. very crisp shifts and for the first time im not scared of slamming it into 3rd.
