December 3rd and no train yet.... yikes, we need members back!
yup, a lot different these days.
pretty much become a place for people to bitch politics at each other and ask completely mundane multiple choice questions in their own individual threads.
Sure is.
Sad...
But what type of pen do you like to use the most?
A. Standard Bic
B. Gel pen
C. Pencil
D. I don't use pens
I use the blood of my enemies
black ink matters!
you guys are boring as hell
I totally don't get this...I've read it 2-3 times and still don't get it. :D
I finally got a damn deer Saturday. Just a doe but it's meat in the freezer. That puts us at 2 for the year. We still have 2 more tags to try and fill before the middle of Jan. If we could just get 1 more I'd be pretty happy with that and consider this a successful season.
Is it bad when you're grateful to go to work so you don't have to paint another room in the house?
Blue ball point pens that dry quickly.
I use crayons :dunno:
So here's a little venting...
As some of you know, I'm a service consultant at a Chevy dealer. About 2 1/2 months ago, a guy brought in his 08 Z06, stuck in 4th gear. Customer had some dude replace the clutch on the side so I'm assuming it's something with that. Took the trans apart, found about 3oz of fluid in it, input shaft was basically fused to output shaft because it overheated so bad. I've never seen this before in my 11 year career. Guy has an aftermarket warranty, I lie to them and they cover the trans overhaul. New input, bearings, synchros etc. Well, get the trans back together, and it's making a bad rattle noise when it heats up. Replace the torque tube bearings... noise still there. Take trans apart again, replace all the bearings... again... and oil pump/front cover. Noise still there. At this point, we have to replace the whole trans. Counter shaft and output shafts do not exist for this car anywhere. GM also does not have anymore transmissions for this car. So I talk the A/M warranty company into allowing us to use an RPM trans that the customer wants. Stage 7... nice ass trans. The customer is all pissy because he literally has to pay his $100 deductible and $125 extra for the performance trans. He calms down. Well the trans is chryo treated, so it takes 5 weeks to build. So I tell the guy I can't cover a rental car for the duration, the car is drivable, just noisy. He then posts on FB about how much of a hack our dealership is, and we can't fix shit, and blah blah blah... he's all Spartacus with his friends about suing us... like seriously. WTF. This has cost the dealership about 3 grand just to have this car here, his rental, and the parts/labor we ate to try to make it right. I literally want to tell this guy that we canceled the trans order and to find another shop to do his work. 2 face ass hat.
/rant
happy Monday motherfuckers.
Hey man, I didn't buy my Chevy from you, but do you think you can get it written off to get the AC system replaced? It's an 08 Impala. Let me know! Lol

Why the hell not.
no good deed goes unpunished.....now you know why I stopped doing shit for anyone. Fuck 'em. :D
Happy December. Update on the life of Terry: Vegas was awesome, George Strait is still killing it, and my car is still in the shop. I'm about to sue the hell out of the dealership..... :lmao:
Actually, they've let me drive around in a red 2017 with the 2.0 turbo for almost 2 straight weeks while they figure shit out. They also gave my wife and I a ride to the airport last week for our Vegas trip. My service manager thinks I'm the most patient person ever, and thanks me every time I come in for an update for not being an ass. I guess he gets tools like Andy's Z06 guy on the regular. :dunno:
Got some strange looks while taking this photo of a survey monument on The Strip.

maybe it was the gay ass shoes??
maybe while you're at it you can do a spark plug change for me and rotate tires using the same 400 ft/lb impact to install both the plugs and lug nuts......at least that's my experience with techs.
torque specs are simply suggestions for pussies
I use the German specs....gooud n tight.

Neither, hence why I didn't quote either. I thought reading comprehension was a requirement again in Ohio?

Good news!
To be honest... I'd have probably replaced all 8 of them since the car is so new, and the issue is intermittent. We are fortunate to be 4 miles from the GM Tech center, so all the brand quality managers are available to us, and usually tell us to over-repair so they can investigate the parts we pull off.
That angle really makes those look like diabetic shoes  They're not that bad in person. Can't say the same about the sweatpants, but in Vegas you get a pass as long as you're not sitting in your own piss all day.
Come into work temp is 60*, go out for lunch it's now 50* heading to 29* tonight.
:cold:
It was cold last night. Single digits with the wind. Looking at the forecast for next week. 7 degree high, -1 low... without the wind. WINTER IS HERE
they don't call it the windy city for nothin
I looked out at the 10 day to see next weekend for our bonus 2 day gun season. Gonna suck balls it looks like. Definitely won't be the right weekend to forget the thermals at home. Hopefully by then we lose this wind. I don't mind the cold weather but don't want to hunt in the wind. If it is I'll shack up in a big stand of pines.
This year is wrapping up in a hurry. So much to do yet at work and for the holidays. We have Police Academy graduation this afternoon and then will head north to shop Market Street in Corning.
Been real busy here finally got my approval and last inspection on my house project so it's complete, got the wheels and tires switched on the car and suv for the winter, tree purchased installed and lit, and some quality time with my daughter in the field hunting deer. I got a huge Coyote on the first day and a doe last night...I'm pleased and excited for myself as its my first deer in approximately 8 years...however I would have been happier if Haylee would have scored.....last day it's freezing and she had her braces tightened yesterday so she isn't showing much interest in going
I don't even have a Christmas tree. Single again for the holidays so what's the fucking point.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I don't have one either.
I had a Charlie Brown tree when I was single already decorated in the basement to carry up and plug in!!! I invited a couple friends over to play cards one year Christmas night cause nothing was going on after family time and that was just the beginning it grew into one of the biggest and best parties for several years.....after year 2 I started getting real trees for the next 5 years and then I met my beautiful wife and those parties ended.... 16 years have gone by and we were just talking about bringing it back but with everyone settled down and all over the country I doubt it would ever happen.... So Jon if you have any single buddies around invite them over it could turn into a hell of a good time...
Tree is on my list as well.
I think I'll be skipping it again this year. Caleb has had a rough few weeks. IVDD. I'm hoping he won't have to have surgery. Putting up a tree and other decorations just isn't feasible this year for me for just the two of us
Ew, no good Dena! Here's to hoping for the best for the little man.
Happy Monday. :coffee:
Like clock work December is fisting me......
Wife was out Christmas shopping. She was coming to a light and had slowed already when she feels a vibration and weird noise. She pulls into a parking garage and then the driveshaft falls out.
WTF?!?!?
Here's the kick in the balls - the U joint and pinon flange are still attached to the driveshaft The pinon nut is trapped between the u joint and the flange. All the threads are good on the pinon. I've never seen that happen before.
Pics later, just spent $400 getting it towed home because it was 85 miles from the house :growl:
Gotta jack it up and I'm praying the ring gear & pinon aren't fucked.
One of my mechanic buddies tells me he's seen it at least 4 times this yr with Dodge's. Anyone else here seen or heard of this?
My Dodge truck had that problem , i caught it before it fell out . It was puking gear oil every where . I think at one point Dodge actually recalled some trucks for the same problem . It sucks that it came apart on her . Bet she was happy ! Thank god it didnt happen going 80 mph .
I have no fewer than three recall notices on the table for that very issue for my Ram truck, as well as three for the airbag recall. I have ignored them all because the 'fix' is to take it in and they apply loctite to the nut. I've already loctited my own nut because I had to change the pinion seal.
you wouldn't happen to know what the torque specs are for 9.25" rear by chance?
Why is it not 5 yet?
It's 5 o'clock somewhere....
honestly, I read the horror stories about overtightening online (crush sleeve on the pinion gear, over tight and bye bye bearings) and only ran it back on as tight as I estimated it was coming off. I figured if anyone is screwing up my stuff it's gonna be me.
'Tis the Season... temps in the teens on the way and our furnace at the house hard faulted last night and again today. :suicide:
figue out what the problem was? Pretty simple to diagnose really. I work on mine every damn year it seems like. It's in the crawl space under the house and a furnace loves nothing more than damp dirty crawl spaces. I'd like to punch the guy in the face that thought that was a good idea. If I had known more about houses when buying this house that would've been a deal breaker. The upside is I'm damn near a certified furnace repairman now because I've replaced damn near everything on that piece of shit the last 14 years.
First place I would start is the t-stat since that's the easiest and make sure it's calling for heat. Next place after that I would look is the inducer fan because that's the next step in the process. Actually....the second place I would check is the doors on the furnace and make sure they didn't get bumped open a little or something and open the door switch. After that it would be the inducer motor or vacuum line to the switch from the motor. That motor pulls vacuum on a switch to close it.
That's certainly where I'd rather be. The older I get, the more I hate cold weather. Maybe later this year or next year though. A friend of mine just bought himself a little sailboat to play with, and he's going to keep it in Tortola (BVI). Here's the kind of boat he got:
Lagoon catamarans : building, sale and chartering of luxury cruising catamarans
yeah.....that's how you do a boat. Also at that level of boat you're having some other poor bastard work on it although those boats aren't built like a cheap ass fishing boat. My friends dad has a chris craft we went out on a few years back. Night and day to any other boat I've ever been on.
Well after some searing Dodge forums....
Tighten no more than 210ft lbs of tq. Best post I saw from a Dodge service tech was to take it to 195ft lbs and test preload, if not in the preload range, tighten 10 more ft lbs but to not exceed 210ft lbs.
Preload on new bearings 15-35 in lbs
Has anyone been seeing stories of GM possibly coming out with a Chevelle in 2017?
I say this with a pinch of salt because all the "pics" of it are 5th Gen Camaro's with different front end, hood and tail. But the body is no doubt a 5th/6th gen body.
I have also seen some with a different body style as well.
Whenever I get tired of the cold I remind myself to stop being a pussy and get over it. If that doesn't work I remind myself of how the cold kills a large amount of bugs. I try to imagine what WI would be like if our mosquito population wasn't put to death every October/November.
That would be kind of cool, but never the same. For me anyway. And any resemblance to the 5th gen Camaro would ruin the whole idea for me anyway. I'll have to see if I can find any of those pictures you're talking about. It's peaked my interest. Camaros' are cool, but my heart has always belonged to the Chevelle.
Why would GM want competition with the Camaro? Isn't part of the reason they killed Pontiac?
Part of the reason sure. But the main driving factor was the trouble they were in financially and the new fleet restrictions put out by the government. Requiring each manufacture to meet certain standards that were based on fleet size.
If they do make a new Chevelle they should have a bench seat in the back and an optional bench in the front. Remember when you used to fit 5-6 people in muscle cars? I have 3 kids now and everything out there with 2 doors and any cool factor to it has these stupid little buckets in the back. Unless I want to spend 100k on a M5.
Almost 5 ugh
the chevelle renderings are pretty Shitty
I can tell you exactly what it would be like without the kill every year.......virginia. That's the one huge drawback to us going out there every summer. The damn mosquitoes are ridiculous there. They're so bad it's impossible to be outside around a fire after it gets dark. In years past I tried different things and bug sprays/repellants so I could drink beer around the fire. Just not possible. Last year I gave up and just drank my beers in the camper watching TV. Next year I'm going to buy a propane fogger and give that a shot but I have no faith that it'll work.
We desperately need the kill this year. Two mild winters in a row have made it almost plague-like down here for mosquitos, fleas, ticks, web worms, you name it. I've never had to treat my house, yard and animals so much as this last year. I hate hate hate the cold, but I welcome it with open, shivering, heavily layered arms this season.
LOL I lived down south for a while. Was happy to come back to WI... and I came back in January.
Wife texts me this morning, "it's -25 with the wind, should we send the kids to school" Me: "Do they attend an outdoor school?" Still haven't received a response from that one.
Some schools are closed here today, others a several hour delay. Our society is filled with a bunch of pussies.

Yep, that's what I thought when they closed our children's school a couple times last year because of cold. And their school doesn't even run buses. So it's not like there are kids freezing waiting for buses, they get dropped off by the parents.
This one isn't too bad. Could use some tweaks but not as bad as the others. I like it.

Yes GTP, I do enjoy living in a place where I can jump in any body of water and know I'm still on the top of the food chain.
:hifinger: December....:hifinger:
I'd really like to see the rear ends on these. Especially the SS.

...walked out to the mailbox this evening, ...in 9+ months, i've forgotten how 4 deg F feels like... kinda takes your breath away quite literally...
The whole chevelle thing needs to go away and die. Not only is GM never going to build it, but all of those renderings suck anyway. :yup:
