It seems everything I read here its like a 50/50 split some like the loudmouth catback exhaust some dont. Now I will be running my manifolds and stock cats so will the loudmouth be alright with that? Most neg feedback I see is when people are running headers and a cat delete. So running stock manifolds and cats this exhaust shouldnt be a real noise problem right?
I have L/M with L/T's and no cats it has too much rasp to it. I think it will sound real good with manifolds and cats. I think that you will be happy with it. Mine is fine idling and cruising speed, but running through the gears is where it is just too loud.
headers with out cats and a loudmouth are real loud and sound BAD real bad!
I had to go with a magnaflow after headers could not deal with the loudmouth.
Yet it was ok with stock.
no, slp loudmouth wouldnt be very loud until you hold it wide open. but it will be very loud if you put an off-road pipe and long tube headers. but the loudmouth is great i had it on my z28 and i loved it and if i get another f-body i will buy another loudmouth system.
I like my L/M. Everywhere I go someone will compliment the sound of the car.
Loudmouth is great on stock manifold cars.
Once I got headers...I moved on from the loudmouth.

Loudmouth was great with stk manifolds/conv. but had to also switch to Magnaflow with LT headers and catted y-pipe.
When I bought my hawk it was the LM with stock manifolds, cats, and Y. I didn't care for it after having the hooker on my camaro, now with long tubes, ORY, and hooker muffler it's still quieter than the LM was. If you like that kind of sound go for it, it won't be really annoying until you get LT's

I had SLP headers, SLP hi-flow cats, SLP y-pipe, and SLP Loudmouth.
Sounded like poop anywhere in the RPM's but idle. Didn't take long before I changed systems.

:yup: I have LT's ORY and a Loudmouth System on my TA ws6, it is really, really loud, but i love it, and that guy is right, if it is too loud your too old!! no offense guys! and im only 18 so that may explain it.:yup:

one of the duals has a slit cut in it wear it meats the I pipe. (had to do this to get it apart) Slit will not hurt anything and will be covered with clamp.

Loudmouth with headers sounds like pure sex idleing and at WOT, but in between it has a sound to it that most people just don't care for. Here's a little clip

i have a loudmouth with stock manifolds and cats witha thunder 224 cam and it sounds nasty. My buddie had the same cam with a loudmouth and longtubes and no cats, he hated it and i loved it.
What do you think the lm would sound like with long tubes and cats? I have the magnaflow and long tubes and sometimes i think its not loud enough. Thingking on trying another catback.Quote:

Most mufflers will start to get carbon built up on the inside of them.
Thus making them a touch louder after time. Not a huge difference though...most of the time.
and now that i've heard it, it's worse than open headers.... hahaQuote:

i don't know why people pay 300 bucks for another cat-back when you can buy a muffler for 90 bucks and pay an exhaust shop to weld it in. the only mod they had to do was make a new intermediate pipe and cut the 2 outlet pipes to the rear of the car and it's done. total cost was like 150 bucks for everything..so you actually save 150+ by not buying a new cat-back..
never really did understand that one..having a LM exhaust is not an end all situation where you have to ditch it, just have to modify it!

I came here searching for this exact information. I have an '01 SS, long tube headers, loudmouth, and I hate the raspy sound. I want the rumble like I used to get from my old '68 GTO!
I think part of the reason for the big sound difference is the single exhaust system has to move twice the volume of gas that a dual would, so the velocity is higher, and there's a lot more high frequency noise. It'll never sound like true dual when it's single. But still, I don't like it sounding like a V8 version of a rice fart pipe.

im happy with my slp. but i have stock cats and manifolds. good buy imo.:rockon: anything besides flowmaster though.
