2000 ss
I'm a new member to this site and posting up my car. This is my 3rd 4th Gen Camaro and 5th over all Camaro.
2000 SS A4
Red on Ebony
Y2K Brushed 10 Spokes
Chrome 5 Spoke SS Wheels (I want 17 x 11 Rear's in a stock look)
SLP Flow Pack w/ smooth bellows
Port & Polished Throttle Body w/ Bypass
Umi Strut Tower Brace
Umi Weld In Subframe Connectors
Umi Pan Hard Bar
Umi Rear Lower Control Arms w/ Relocation Brackets
Pacesetter Long Tubes (No Cat)
TSP Rumbler X-Duals w/ Dynomax Bullets
Diablo Sport Tuning
Red Caliper w/ Black Bracket Painted Brakes
To-Do
LS6 Intake (ERG Delete)
Heads & Cam w/ all new valvetrain
Sway Bars
Shocks & Spring Upgrade
Yank 3600 TC
3.73 Gear Swap
All of the stuff for my "To-Do" list is bought except the Swap Bars, Torque Converter, Gears and Shocks & Springs. I'm waiting on one of the guys I work with to get home so we can pull his silverado SS and my car in at the same time and start of builds together in his shop. Probably looking at a fall time frame to begin everything. I did a ton of research on what I'm doing to have a fun street/strip ride with mild street manners. The car is not a DD but I do drive it on the road some. I'm not too worried about street manners or it being loud to ride in.
I still have questions about shocks and springs b/c I have some ground clearance issues with the TSP system. I want something that's going to hook up better but I don't want to lower the car a lot.
I need to get the car painted. The front bumper saw some abuse by the previous owner. It looks like she touched a concrete curve or something in a parking lot and the clear coat is starting to peel in a few other places.
I open to suggestions and advice so fire away.
**I'll figure out how to post pictures one day. In the bottom left section of the page there is a list of "Posting Rules" and it says I am not allowed to post attachments. Whenever that goes away I'll post pictures.

2000 SS Pictures
-
Most of the pictures are from the ad when I bought the car. I took the California front license plate grill off and put the SLP grill back in. Most of the other pictures I have are from doing mods or fixes. I'll take more and add them when the weather clears up.
-
Looks great and sounds like you have the next set of mods all planned out. We had to paint the nose and hood on our car last fall. In addition to chips it looked like something had been spilled on the hood in a couple of spots.
Let me know what you go with for springs as there is no way I can lower our car with the roads we have. A lot of guys speak very highly of Strano springs, but I have never looked into whether he has a stock ride height set.
PS: Missed your last sentence in the first post, but it looks like you have it figured out.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm about to order some 17 x 11 ZR1's to go with the other set of wheels I have and get some 315's for the rear, maybe it'll hook a little better then. I'll post more pictures after that. I hope the ZR1's will make my brakes show a bit more. May tint the windows real soon too.

Your car will look like this this when you are done!

 Now I'm waiting on my new one and the paint booth to open. Probably still going to be a few weeks before we get to spray the car but I'll get my new grill in there shortly. Now if I can get these wheels gone.

Nice Camaro man, looks just like mine.

I'm going to paint the car later this summer since the clear is peeling in places and I'll do the stripes after that. I also sold my SLP grill and I'm going back with a west wings just trying to decided if I'm going to paint it black or red. Suggestions?

Paint the car or grille? I think red camaros are definite eye catchers, and they look amazing.

I'm painting both. The car is going to remain red. The paint job is mostly because the clear is peeling in a few places. The color has faded in those places or just looks like crap so I'm going to lightly re-spray it in red and re-clear the entire car. I'm going to paint the new grill also but I'm going black with it.
-
I agree that red Camaros are amazing looking. I wish mine didn't have peeling clear coat and swirl marks. But...take 20 steps back and it looks pretty good to me.
-
Yeah I had a red 95 V6 and the clear coat peeled behind the t-tops mainly, wanted to get it redone but ended up getting a 2000 SS. The black grill will look good with the red, a nice contrast between the two colors. Good luck with it

Good looking SS. Another vote for red too :cool2:
-
beautiful car, Red was my second choice but I fell for the pearl metallic. There is something about a red muscle car that gets the blood going though:firedevil:
-
Red is a great color. My favorite of my other LS powered camamro's was also red. That's probably the reason I like this one so much. My original first choice was SOM and a WS6. When I walked into the dealer and told him I wanted the one in the showroom but I wanted to test drive it first, he asked me how old I was. I said 19 and he laughed at me and then told me he was busy. I walked out after I tolf him I had 36 grand in cash in my back pocket, I would have bought the car but just wanted to run it through the gears first. Oh well, so the next dealer I stopped at had a red SS and I sat in it. It might has well been my first hit of crack!

Carrying 36K in cash on you is STUPID
-
STUPID...? You must not have caught the part where I said I was 19. I don't dispute that its dangerous but I had it on me for about 4 hours. I had an idea about how much I was going to spend and only had it out for that purpose. I'd do it again now if I was doing it for a short period of time for a specific purpose but then again, I own and carry more guns than I had back then.
-
Yes I caught the part where you were 19. That doesn't change the fact that carrying around a shit ton of money on you at any given point is a stupid idea.
I own guns too. Carrying one doesn't make you invincible.
-
So how exactly does carrying a shit ton of cash on you increase your odds of something happening? It has zero change in the likelihood of something happening to yo unless you advertise it or make it obvious. Saying out loud that I had it was certainly stupid, but if you have a reason to be carrying it, then it's a matter of weighing the risk versus the benefit. I do that everyday at either of my jobs, both of which I've had training in self defense and defensive tactics, with and without weapons. I've got a little training in carrying and escorting large amounts of money. If I feel the need to carry that much money, I have weighed the risks and I must be comfortable enough with what I know and I'm doing to chance it. I never said weapons make you invincible, but they even the odds if you need them.
All I'm saying is walking across the road can be dangerous. If you feel the need to do it at a given time, it's your choice and responsibility to do it safely. I guess an onlooker might think you are stupid for doing it though because they think its a bad idea how you did it.
Anyway, enough debate about that. I made a video of video clips from inside my car for listening to my exhaust setup. Not much but I like it.

Never said it increases your odds...It makes it stupid b/c at any given point anyone can be robbed. You don't have to advertise you have a lot of coin to be robbed. Thousands of people get robbed daily. If I do get held up, I rather lose $100 than $36K....it's that simple. If I'm going to go buy a car and pay cash, I'm writing a check. There is ZERO risk in losing money with a checkbook. That's all I'm saying.
PS - That sounds nice!
-
You have a good point, I'm just saying basically for the sake of argument that I agree, you could be robbed at anytime. If you are know how to be defensive you can lessen your odds my simple looking like a challenge. Knowing how to be a challenge helps too if you are engaging in acts like carrying lots of cash and having and knowing how to use a defensive weapon is your friend if you need it. I agree with you and with my training and experience I would tell people not to carry that much money if they aren't 100% comfortable with it. Knowing where I was going and having a plan to not stay static and watching my surroundings as to always have an escape route kept me comfortable with what I was doing.
I'll end by saying you are right. It's a bad idea but I like to argue...it's another hobby of mine.
Thanks for the compliment on the video!

Another video for sound purposes from outside the car. I took a few more but none of them turned out worth a damn. I left the part of me backing up in it because there's a short section where it sounds good IMO. The rest of it was a short WOT just going by the camera.
-
I understand where IH8EVRY1 is coming from by carrying that amount of money for a specific purchase. Cash in hand is a lot more "Pleasing to the Eye" for bargaining. If you say you have X amount of dollars CASH, your able to haggle more in your favor.
Another thumbs up for the clip :) Although I tend to love Magnaflow better, just my opinion.

Nice SS... Love the way it sounds!!!

Is the exhaust hanging too low for your future suspension mods? What's scraping? Pipes? Tips?

Nothing unless I go over a bad speed bump. When I first installed it, the turn downs would scrape but I adjusted it all up and nothing touches anymore unless it's something pretty big. I don't think it hangs too low but I do have to pay attention to things I drive over.

Thanks man. Just got a call from a good friend who's a wildland firefighter. He's headed that way now. It's about 50 miles from the house. I'm out of town with work, but I'm sure I'll here all about it in a few days when I get back.
