Pics of my ride - First wash

So as some know, I sold my 01 T/A and traded my truck for an 09 g8 gt. Finally got some time to clean all the swirls the dealer and/or previous owner put in the car. Just did a quick job of wash, clay, polish, polish, sealant since it will be a dd. (spent about 5 to 5 1/2 hrs counting beer time)

What'cha think? Oh btw, I guess g8's aren't welcome around here. I got no good sections to post my car pics.

Hey, I like it! It's a great looking 4-door LS1 (they are LS1s right? I admit I can't remember the specs on these bad boys...)

That looks great in black with tinted windows!

Noticed that as well

Nice job!

I knew I was gonna get some grief on that, but they are a happy dealership. Technically it's an L76. It's a 6.0 ls2 with better heads and a milder cam to my knowledge. They're putting out a dissapointing 290-305 rwhp stock. Supposedly a tune helps stock form well.

I like but I'm a bit bias....

Looks like you did an awesome job on the paint. I'd say some black out tape or paint on the grill surround and window trim is in order. Enjoy your new ride...

There's lots of great info for your G8 over at GRRRR8.net.

Cool, like I said lots of good info and great people, just like here.

BTW, have you done any mods? First thing I did was the BASS mod for the stereo and then I got rid of my mufflers and replaced them with a straight pipe from the axle back inexpensive and it sounds nice. A bit of drone due to AFM but its a great value I think.

Here's a link to similar product made by SLP, they claim 10 HP but want $399. They have pics and a video. I got mine done for 120 at a local muffler shop, I used my stock tips...

Again nice ride, enjoy...

Hell yes... I went into the trunk and found the stupid gain and cranked it up to about 75-80%. To have an 11 speaker stereo sound like an ice cream truck is rediculous.

I don't know if my muffler shop would do this? are removing those two mufflers street legal? I know it seems like it has six of them.

I honestly couldn't tell you if its legal or not. SLP says it is emissions legal in all 50 states. I'm sure it has nothing to do with pollutions, its just to make it quiet:screwy:.

Below is a link to the product description from Maryland speed.
http://marylandspeed.com/slp-loudmou...91-p-2244.html

The axle backs are one there with the use of two bolts, some have added one or two washers between the flange and the bolt to make a leak in the exaust and get a similar sound but is very low compared to the SLP setup or mine. Here's a comparo video I made stock v.s. no muffler.

Best thing is you can try it and if you don't like it you can be back to stock in 5 minutes.

Cheers

Another plus is if you like it and use custom tips you can sell your mufflers on here or GRRRR8.net and get some cash back.

Here's a couple vids with the free washer mod.

Here's a good vid seems like WOT with no muffers. I wouldn't recommend doing this on a side street and there's some music in the middle but only for a few seconds...

do you have anything in the works for the car?

Looking at ordering a rotofab cai tonight or in the morn. Need to find the best price. G8 shit is pricey...

Also, a color matching carseat. Anyone know where I can find a black/red kid seat?

Maryland speed is a good place to order from for the G8.

Don't know where to get the two tone car seat but what ever you do make sure you get one that has a smooth bottom and back, I used my car for 3K miles last year and when I pulled the car seat to store the G8 for winter the leather looked like ass. Still has all the indentations from the grooves on the car seat and the bottom and back rest are separated by like an inch. :sillyme:

Sweet... Thanks for looking. I'm leaning towards amazons recaro selection after searching for an hour. Never found that model in my searches.

I was worried about denting/ marring the seats. I usually throw a towel or blanket underneath and those usually help. Since It will be a semi permanent install, prob go with a matching blanket too, lol...

can't go wrong with recaro. even the kid will be riding in style ha

I hope this doesn't sound too ricer, but are these type of bulbs safe for the headlight enclosures? I'm thinking of switching out to something that's a lil brighter but don't want to melt the enclosure.

Yes, thought about it. Just stumbled across those while glancing across ebay. I haven't actually found a kit or know the price, but I don't think I have the funds for the HID's at this time as I'm hoping to get a hold of a rotofab cai as soon as I hear back from KYspeed.

You have a PM

Thanks,
Mark

yea my buddies have bought a bunch of kits off eBay for around $75. they all had awesome results and was an easy install

Chuckie, I think g8's are the sickest things since 4th gens. I'm suprised not to see more here. Yours looks sweet! I hope your looking for rims and springs.

thx, ordered my rotofab CAI yesterday.Next mods purchased will be color matching blanket and recaro car seat, LOL... Holds all four of my family fantastic, and I don't feel like a weenie when driving every day by myself.

I guess I'd drive that everyday haha

I like those wheels, what are they? I haven't started researching wheels yet. I'd like some with a nice lip though. The car is pretty comfy for a dd. I think the seats are probably a mix between camaro and T/A if I had to compare. They sure aren't as comfortable as my t/a was (no lumbar) and I haven't quite dialed in my lovehandles into the positioning of the back.
