new interior

So I found a guy on craigslist who is selling the front and back leather seats for a really good price. My question is, I have tan seats in my Camaro. Would it look bad if I got black seats and left the carpet tan?

Yeah I was thinking that and I already have black accent on the dash so I hope it'll look good.

Don't forget the door panels are tan too.

I think it would look sweet if you switched out all the tan for black.

I saw a writeup where a guy just took some black leather and wrapped the cushion on his doors. Looked pretty good

Well gutting the entire inside is not in the budget. So do you think with leaving the door panels tan and swapping the seats it would still look good?

I don't think it would look that bad. You could save up and keep upgrading as you can afford it...

I think it would look better myself. You still have the doors to tie in with the carpet. You could get new charcoal/black mats too.

I'm thinking about just trying to find some tan driver and passenger seats and be done with it. I just can't find anybody who's parting out their car. Any suggestions would help.

4 nuts to loosen on the floor, and the seat belt guides and they come right out. Its easier than changing spark plugs

I took them out in my SS to have the leather redone. It's not hard at all if you know a little bit.

The seat belts and guides will be a problem though, as those will be tan...

Ok good. I don't need another difficult project for a while. Changing out 2 lifters was enough for right now. Nothing like having your car spit oil at you!

Yeah true. But being a full time college student time and money are scarce. No summer break= no summer projects and I have to have a DD. Tan ta seats are looking better and better. If anybody knows where I can get some fairly cheap please let me know!

I'll keep an eye out for you. Chances are you'll have to have them shipped. That's an added expense though.

i think the black seats would look fine. the interior of these cars is not all one color anyway.
you want a true honest opinion though? i wouldn't worry about the seatbelts looking out of place with black seats. what you have there with all that trim painted white is like the clash of the century. nobody will notice the seatbelts. [no offense intended]:itsok:

Well I'm not going to worry about it now. The guy sold the seats out from under me so oh well. I'll keep looking.

You should find some Trans Am seats, probably one of the best upgrades I've done.

sometimes you have to decide first, then start looking for this kind of stuff. when it shows up you're thinking about it and someone else already decided and is looking for it.

What is wrong with the front/passenger seat, that would make you want to get rid of them? They look good to me. I wish mine looked as good as yours. I have tan(neutral) leather aswell, in my z. But they show their age. They are worn out, and have a few rips/tears. They are such an eyesore everytime I open my door and look at them.

If you do end up getting another set of seats, what are you going to do with the set that's in your car now? Sell them, by chance?

Well I want TA seats cause they're so comfy and I do a lot of long distance driving. But the original seats are in very good condition just want something different. If I do get some new seats and don't trade them I'll let you know if you wanna buy them.

I personally don't think it's going to look good until you replace the door padding and seat belts to match the seats. But, as stated, you can update those parts later.

i say go for it. The seats would go along with the black on your dash. Might want to think about repainting the bezels a diff color other than white, but i think it would look good still

So they have good prices on their parts, like a SS hood maybe. I stopped at a local salvage yard around here and they wanted a grand for one.

You could always go old school, hit the junk yards and rumage for black door interior parts. You'll be surprised what an insurance company will total out on a car but interior be in perfect condition. Or go really old school and the poor mans way and get plastic/vinyle dye and change the trim color yourself. But that method screams poor mans upgrade and judging by the looks of what you've already done.. it's not your style.

Haha no it's not. I thought about dying the seat belts but my friend did that a year ago and they bled all over his shirt and then faded. So I'll stick to buying from salvage yards for now. It's way cheaper and you're right, the interior can look like new even in a totaled car. :approved:
