R.I.P trans am

well folks i totalled my poor lil t/a last night in the rain...... a friend was following me to a near by town, because he had just turned 18 and we were gonna take him to a porn store as a joke, well on the way there i was driving down the hwy going about 68 to 70mph and was on the inside of a big curve and all of the sudden my rear end went out and i tryed to correct it and just fish tail way too baddd... then all i know is im going off the road into a deeeeep assed ditch and then start going into the woods and my car eventually slid to a stop after hitting 5 or 6 trees :( i walked away with cuts on my hand from punching the glass other than that im just fine.... poor t/a i'll miss that car to death

Glad you're still alive but...

Rain...

Speeding...

Curve...

What did you think was gonna happen?

Like I said you're alive. Just remember this lesson. And treat your next car with more respect in the rain.

regardless of weather or not it was speeding in your area, 68 on a wet road in a RWD car is stupidity

^This.

To the OP: You missed my point entirely. Rain + high speed (regardless if it's the legal speed limit) = A greater than average probability that the car will lose traction.

That's what I meant by treat your car with respect. It's real easy to put a hi powered car in a position that you can't recover from especially on a wet road going round a curve.

Glad you're OK, it's only a car and you're only 18, you'll have many more fun cars in the years to come.

Regardless of your situation it's a proven fact that more cars are wrecked by under 25 males than any other category.

This is why your insurance goes down at age 26.

While I don't like to admit it, back in the day I was proof positive of this...

still didnt answer my question of wether or not youve ever sped before, and if you have, you cant blame others for why your rates are higher because your the same part of the problem, you just havent been caught

ive gone 10 over....nothing crazy. lost a good friend in HS when she was racing her dads mustang.......scared me straight:slap:

plus the idea of losing a car over speeding(police impounds)

that or

the law being able to say your street racing(by yourself) they can impound plus jail in ohio

These days so do I.

Who sez an old dawg can't learn new trix?

For that matter I've always preferred to race at the track.

I still stand by the facts though. The reason insurance for the under 25 male is so high is because of the accident rate for that age group.
