who has raced the dodge srt models what model and what was the result?
srt neons: aka skittles dont stand a chance,
srt rams: actually look like they are racing, a basic mods t/a will win
srt chargers:, okay i ran one of these belongs to a lady at my church shes really cool, cars were pretty even, both autos, my t/a has slps 350hp pac, i'm sure if i had a 6speed if would be a more clear race, if i had no mods it would have been a loss, but not by alot these are very heavy.
srt challengers: you'll lose everytime unless you have a cam or significant mods
vipers: dont even try unless you've got cam heads tune and other goodies, or have a nice NOS shot. i know of an 87 mustang with 400hp 5.0l w/ 150 shot that beat leann rimes 2001? viper, this couldve been because the viper couldnt get traction for a while (leann's dad was the driver fyi)
hope this helps bud:)
^^^^ agreed except the srt challengers. manual for manual you have a 50-50 chance of beating those too.
charger srt is 50/50 if your stock. my dads charger just has a few bolt ons, and a switch under the dash to totally turn off traction, and he couldn't catch any traction when we raced. I was basically stock then
challenger srt is not a 50/50, I have tried multiple times and never got close; and i'm not stock anymore. Him and i were out for a drive in the challenger(m6) the other day and a kid I know with a ws6 tried runnin us at 40.. my dad downshifted into 2nd, spun into 3rd, and left the ws6 behind by quite a bit. I have ran against that ws6 too, and it was neck/neck
i have raced a few myself and i think it really depends on if its from a roll or a dig and actually how far your racing. Our cars have different torque curves than other cars as well and power bands so it all depends where and how your racing. If you wanna know who is faster look up quarter mile times. Hell, it aint about HP its about timeslips
since when did a charger srt come with a stick?? I don't think so... the chargers never had a standard option
^exactly we can have this argument all day, with cars that have similar times, its a coin flip, unless your from a roll or a dig and how far you plan on going. A car with an aggressive low torque curve will win stoplight to stoplight but wont do much good from a roll on an empty highway.
ahh well cbell is really my small hometown where the heart is, i'm in college station now at a&m, theres so many vettes and fbods here, (I don't have the fastest car in the town anymore:cry2:) i'm sure i've passed through jacksonville going back and forth though, love your car man, cant wait till i have cash to get up into the 400+hp mark:devil:
i was wondering about this also because a friend of mine has a brother with an r/t charger and he wants to race me at the park for a quarter of a mile strip. Will it be a close race or will i win, if so how bad will i beat him?
You'll beat him good but they're talking about the srt with the 6.1 not the rt with the 5.7
98 snow t/a, if its just the r/t 5.7L, you should be good for 2-3 car lengths. However if its the 6.1, hold on tight bc hes gonna give you a hell of a run. I recommend 93octane alwayz for U. :drivin:
equal drivers means the r/t chargers/challengers lose to ls1 4th gens. srt8 models are too close to call.
I raced an SRT-4, he was pretty modded (dont know what exactly, but you could tell). I won by a little
pretty close from 30-about 100 but i was out in front
i think he wished his turbo would spool up faster because every time he shifted i gained a little
With the challenger it really depends what speeds your going up to and driver if both cars have the same mods or both stock. The higher speeds i think the LS1 will pull ahead but going from 0-110mph its gonna be very close. Ive raced several cars were the race is neck and neck and after 100mph its pretty much a different race. So who really knows till it happens. As many of those cars ive seen around ive yet to run into one, must admit they look good though.
Guide for the stockish to bolt-ons F-body:
SRT-4: Run these FWD guys from a dig, and you'll win every time. Refuse the roll request.... some are very fast with the right turbo setup.
SRT-8 CHARGER: These things are boats, but have a good amount of horsepower. It should be a drivers race with a slight advantage to the F-body. They respond well to bolt-ons... beware.
SRT-8 CHALLENGER: Same as the Charger. They are a bit heavy, but have a decent amount of power. Again, should be a drivers race. They also respond well to bolt ons.... beware.
SRT-10 RAM: These aren't to difficult to beat in stock form. If you can drive your F-body, you shouldn't have a problem. They're effectiveness drops on the top end due to poor aerodynamics and weight.
SRT-10 VIPER: Bring at least a heads/cam setup or don't even try. If you're car isn't trapping in the solid 120mpg range, you don't stand a chance.
BTW, all these cars are gay....
Kaotic ws6, thats very true aero is a huge factor at higher speeds.
dude srt challengers are much faster, no way a stock f-body will take one remember these are very similer to the new camaros performance, dont think a stock f-body could dream of taking one of those:snowboard::thumbup:
my first 'race' ever was a srt neon vs my 3.4l camaro he won but not by anymore than a couple lengths was from 50 on a highway haha pathetic
Hope your kidding, a stock srt-8 charger or challenger is a 13.2-13.5 car @ 108-110mph, i was running 12.8s @ 111mph with 3 bolt ons and a tune on street tires. I will say that most of the time a stock f-body will lose to a stock srt-8 car but not by that much. A few bolt ons will put you in the lead. Oh and just so you know stock my 2000 T/A went a 13.3 @ 107mph, so still pretty close to the times put down by the srt-8 cars.
You think too highly of the srt-8 cars if you think you need a cammed ls1 to beat them, there are a shit ton of 11 second ls1 cars with cam and bolt ons only. No way in a hell a stock srt-8 car is gonna run 11s
Im also confused as to why yo uthink the srt-8 challenger is faster than the charger, they weigh damn near the same and have the same powertrain.
Looky what i found, stock 2010 manual runs a 12.87 @ 109mph with a 2.0 60ft. DA was 986, so that helped lol
I have already seen with my own eyes 111mph trap speed out of a bone stock 2010 manual. But that guy only went a 13.3. And it was high 30s that night.
I have said it before and il lsay it again, give the new camaro drivers time to get used to the car and the IRS and give the engines time to break in and we will see some 12.6-12.8 passes stock down to the tires.

not that motor trend is really acurate, but in thier '10-'11 line up, says challenger goes 0-60 in 4.6 while charger goes it in 5.0, (same as what they say a 98 trans am does)even if they arent right all the time, .4 seconds is a good measurable difference.
and yes no doubt, nearly any mild cam will put us well in the lead against the two no doubt sir. i just cant afford any of that right now, college sucks.
I had a srt-4.. Dyned 270whp with wga, exhaust, and intercooler and would walk my camaro all day long.
Would run high 12s all day long.
SRT-8 Charger/Challenger/300 all pretty much the same. Dodge claims 4168lbs for the Charger the 300 and the Challenger are only slightly lighter.
the T/C button is not a toggle under the dash it's right above the radio and to disable it completly it needs to remain pressed for 6 sec till it chimes and the display says ESP off. for best acceleration/track results leave it ON
f-body vs SRT-8 close but if i HAD to bet it would be on the SRT-8.
The average trap speed for a stock new Camaro is 108-111mph. That is a bit more than a stock F-body which averages 104-106mph. While they may be running similar 1/4 mile times, the new Camaro is still pulling harder on the top end.
I forget which company, but they threw a pair of drag radials on a new 6M SS, and it went high 12s@110-111mph, and it was pretty achievable between two different cars they had. I've only seen a small handful of factory freaks, or base model (no power anything) Z28s, that have gone 12s stock.
This link is a stock camaro down to the stock tires going a high 12. Im willing to bet the average for that car in a year or two will be 12.8-13.3 a couple tenths better than the 4th gen and a great time will be 12.6s. This is why i laugh when everyone on here talks about how they pulled the new SS with there stock 4th gen. Even though it is heavier, its a faster car.

I'm sorry but you do need to get over your 350hp pac thing.... a LS1 puts out 350hp(at crank).... :yup: no matter if it is in a Vette, F-body or GTO... any LS1 will dyno from 290hp to 315hp(stock)... give or take a few... and as for the op question... well most likely it is a drivers race....:yup:
i hope you're right-- i want the new camaro to be faster but at this point i'm not super impressed with any of the new musclecars. i dont want to buy something that has an edge over my 02 i want something that will kill my 02
i haven't heard of many new camaros actually trapping 111.. 98% of them are in that 108-109 area.
i Ran a 09 srt viper 60-100ish dont think he was trying he put 3 cars on me
I have to agree, yesterday I ran into a sharp black Srt-8 charger, full cat back exhaust no idea about any other mods. Newayz, from a 30 roll he got the jump, but we stayed neck and neck till about 115, and then i pulled on him by about 1.5-2 lengths til 130. so not bad. Oh yeah a/c was on
OK here we go... You think you know it all because you own an 07 srt8. My dad had the first srt8 in kansas in December of 05. When they first came out in 06'. NOW; We have been doing bolt on mods to his car BEFORE you even bought your car. LOOK IT UP, srtforums will tell you that it only disables 70 some percent of the traction control. Don't act like your going to school me on this. We own 3 srt's, so don't think cause you own a charger your gonna tell me im wrong
And yes the diablo will too; just like you stated
Wow, you sound like a 5 year old. He has been calm and just stating what he thinks never even coming at you with animosity and you just start freaking out and calling him names. I think daddy needs to stop spoiling you so you can grow up some, even if you are right about the subject at hand.
Easiest way is to pull the fuse
ive spanked 2 srt cherokees on the roll 5mph to 70 mph. and the other 95mph to 140 mph... both times at least 2 cars lenths.........:drivin:
i have worked on several 06s that do have that function. since then all SRT-8s do have that function. i'm not here to get in a pissin' contest. just to give info about the SRT-8s without the BS or being a Dodge fanboy.
Got to race a srt challanger from a roll 3 times and from a light twice and got to park and talk to him he had a cai and cb and i also have a cai and cb it was close but i took him every time. It was fun and he was very cool about it. SRT was auto
well just for giggles i did look it up on all the SRT forums i have listed. it seems that the consensus agrees that the total shut off capability for the ESP has been on there since the 06' year model. that being said, most of the responders were 06' SRT-8 owners.
but since you are partial to that specific site i could always call gilgamesh or UJOKIN2 both own early 06 models. we all used to hang out together
This guy owns one on my street, i have to admit it sounds good when he is WOT. His is the 300 SRT. There are a few were i live amoung other cars i wouldnt mind running into but with my luck ill be driving the civic. LOL everytime i drive my camaro i get stuck behind somene who drives hella slow on the street and then i guess since they think there such a good driver they always slowly run the stop sign never fully stopping. From what ive been seeing lately thats pretty normal, then again i live in Tujunga were people like to cut you at stop signs use the center lanes as passing zones, pretend there making a right but then go WOT and cut you off going straight and riding your a** till you get to your driveway and even then honk at you and yell F*ck Y*u as they drive by because you've somehow ruined there day because they had to slow so you can make a safe turn. LOL, ok i got all that out.
idk what cars you guys are racing but i have NEVER had any SRT-8 Charger or challenger come within 1-2 car lengths of me in any race. and my current ws6 is a 2001 M6, Lid, and spec 3 clutch basically bone stock, the last race i had with a cahrger srt-8 he got the jump and i reeled him in and passed him and put about 2 full cars on him, and im not just saying this because i have 2 friends with SRT-8 chargers and the other has a challenger srt-8 6-speed
Here's my timeslip from two weekends ago at Beaver Springs Dragway. Challenger SRT in the left lane, me in the right with our '02 T/A. Only mods on our car are bolt in 2 point SFC's, 180 degree thermostat and a Magnaflow catback. It's an A4, 3,565 lbs, running on Falken tires at 30 psi. Note R/Ts were about dead even:
http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/v...fro/img012.jpg
wow! that SRT needs a serious driver mod. even my first time down a srtip was a 13.1.
ive beat a challenger srt8 from a roll with my camaro. all i have is a magnaflow
SRT4...destroyed.
SRT8 Charger...2 car lengths
SRT8 300C...2 car lengths
SRT8 Challenger...never raced
SRT8 Cherokee...3 car lengths
SRT10 Ram...never raced
SRT10 Viper...had one try and race me, but I didn't want to waste the gas on a race I knew I would lose.
I keep going to the track and looking for one as fast as yours. SRT8's must really vary from car to car or due to climate. I've seen a couple stock ones run mid 13's but the majority of stock SRT8 cars are high 13's and low 14's at Orlando Speedworld. For reference, LS1 F-bodies that are stock run 13.7-14.1 in typical conditions. 05' and up Mustang GT's run 13.9-14.4, C6 Vette's run high 12's to low 13's and R/T Mopars run about .05-.06 seconds slower than the SRT8 cars stock for stock.
I go to the track about 2 or 3 times a month and see a nice mix of cars. Here in Orlando with our heat and humidity we are lucky to get a DA under 2000' even though we are at sea level.
My car runs low 13's in normal conditions and I hit a 12.7 with a very rare low DA of 160'. That particular night I got to run an SRT8 Magnum with a catback, an intake, some throttle body mod and a tune. He ran a low 13, I don't remmember the exact time.
I've raced more than a couple and haven't been beaten by one yet. My car is an 02 A4 with 2.73 gears. It's got the free ram air mod, a lid with a K&N, a descreened MAF, a Magnaflow catback and a Diablosport Predator tune. I usually run with a set of Nitto 555R drag radials and can cut mid 1.8x' for an average 60' time.
I don't think it's a driver mod it it was an auto. Look how close the reaction timesAnd the 60 ft times were
ive race a truck srt-10 4dr, its a friends, i told him i would beat him, but he insisted, so i handed his ass to him, at least 6-8 cars by 90mph from 30ish, i raced a srt-6 crossfire, beat him also by 4-5 cars, and the one i had the hardest time, to my surprise, was a magnum srt-8, must have been modded, from 60, slowly pulled until about 110 i started to pull a little harder, maybe 2-3 cars by 130.
see i'm just the opposite. i have yet to lose to an f-body. although i almost traded for transformer edition 10' SS but it doesn't have enough room for the family. my best pass was a [email protected] with a DA 1872 on street tires. i didn't know how to post slips here but i just put it on Dragtimes as driver Willy and SRT8 Superbee. i don't have my current dyno sheets due to water damage and the only thing you can read on them now is just the hp and tq without the graph. it shoud be posted within 12 hrs or so. i'd i could have done better but i drove 4 hours to the track to get 2 passes in. now i have to leave for a while and haven't found a srtip close enough to Savannah, GA to make the trip. hopefully i'll be able to get to one when i get back.
my buddy has a 50 trim SRT-4 runnin up to 27 psi.
fastest car I've ever ridden in. 400WHP estimated. should be low 12's if he could hook. its absolutly nuts from a roll. I love these cars, and almost bought one my self!
You moved from MD to GA. Cool!!! We're practically neighbors. My trucks deliver building materials in Savanah 2 times a week.
There aren't any tracks close to you.
Gainesville and Cecil county Georgia are the two closest. Cecil is closer as the crow flies but longer time wise. You have a solid 3 hour drive to a track.
If you decide to make the trip let me know. With the numbers you have we should be neck and neck.
just do the hp/lb numbers and a srt charger has a lot more horsepower per pound than a stock f-body
