He hasn't been racing that long. The France family BUILT NASCAR. Names like Petty, Earnhardt, Johnson, Parsons, Yarborough...THOSE names are practically etched in stone.

More than likely, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Geoff Bodine, Ricky Rudd, Harry Gant, and many others will make the list.

Yarborough and Allison made nascar what it is today with their televised fight. There are a lot of forgotten people that should make it in before any of the current drivers make it. Alan Kulwiki is one that comes to mind for the polish victory lap. Davey Allison is another. Darrell Waltrip should make it in before any of the current drivers do.

That is SO :true: I completely agree; its easy to forget the legacies when we are all caught up in the now.

i was in the National Guards :usa:with BODINE in Corning , NY and worked in the maintenence department with him--that was a couple years ago-lol

never saw him wreck anything--he did own a new shiney yellow Daytona Superbird--sweeeet ride

use to race super stock on dirt and had a kid that the owner told him to go back out and hit the ambulance because it was the only thing he didnt hit while racing---lol

I feel they are in already. When I saw on the news of Kulwicki's and Allison's deaths my heart sank. They were taken WAY too soon.

Another one you don't hear about anymore but will make it in, or at least should make it in, is Swervin' Ervin. The one eyed wonder lived through stuff that would've put a lesser man in the grave.

another one. I don't even think he had 1 nascar win in winston cup but had a shit ton others in other series was Dick Trickle. The only reasons I think he should make it is due to his name and the fact that he'd fire a cigarette up during caution flags and hang it out the window. He was the last of the iron men in my book. I don't even think Dale was as hard core as Tricky Dicky was. :D

This thread is startin to take me back to when CBS used to air the races on TV, then TNN(SPIKE) would run the races as well. Man those were the days. Superspeedways had cars runnin past 200mph, drafting didn't knock anyone in the walls...much, and there were NO issues with tire designs. Not much technology involved. Just build it, lap it, place, then race...and WIN.
