I have a 2000 ta. 137,000 mi. I thought this was high until I seen your post:)
part of living in the country, hell the closest wal-mart is 21 miles away, and i drive a 42 mile round trip each day to work.but it is nice to have 14 acres and peace n quiet.
My 99' has 190,000 miles and flying like phoenix outta hell. This bird ahs been truly resurrected. I bought him in really run down Miami used car dealer. within the first month I put an SLP Loudmouth on, SLP air box, Tru Fiber Ram Air Hood, drained all of the fluids, and did a paint job. The color is a 85' Redline BMX color "Kiwi".
WOW! you drove the hell outta that T/A. :bravo: I only had about 105,000 miles before my motor went (I beat the hell out of her.) but I got It back out now with a new and fresh motor. (Just yesterday in fact :drivin:)
145k on mine.. and still going strong.. which is surprising how hard I drive mine.. LOL..
138,000 on mine, still hauls ass!
I have a 98 trans am with 195,5?? and she still runs strong, tranny just went out a while ago and is brand spanking new with about 30 miles id say

i bought mine with 60000 miles 5 months later i have 73000:Ohno:....i drive about 50 miles round trip from home to work only(thats if i dont have to go anywhere else that day)so soon i can join this club...what is the high milage mark anyways?
99 T/A 142,xxx runs great.
134K miles and still on the original Clutch.
I bought my 98 Trans Am with 60,000 miles on it 5 years ago. after 5 trannys, 6 rears and 2 engines it has ~237,000 miles on it. the original motor lasted until 218,000 though with me driving it into the dirt like i like to do. after i got the car i averaged something like 260 miles a day of fun driving for about the first 8 months. car has been across the US (ky to calif, ky to fl, ky to nc) seen all the states except for like 14-15, and is still my daily driver.
God and I love it!!:yay:
98 WS6 139K miles
For all you high mileage boys out there in LS1.com land:
If anything did go wrong with your Formula/Trans Am.. how much greif did it give you, and what was the worst that has happened to the car (Draxxus could probably write a dissertation on this from the looks of it..)
:D
Note: I'm eyeing Some Formulas and Trans Ams that he may be using as a DD post graduation in Dec. So pardon the 20Qs; I know more about Camaros than Firebirds but assume they're mostly the same car fascias aside.
Like many of you I plan to give my bird a long and happy life, and I want to know what to expect to ensure that it does receive that life.
The thing that gives me the most grief on a stocker is probably the transmission. When the rear goes i just go to the junkyard and for under a hundred dollars and a days work you can usually have a rear that will get you through the next 30k miles.
I used to do the work to the car myself in the garage and if you are doing that i do not envy the work that you will do just pulling a tranny out of the car without a lift and all the right tools, that was probably the worst experaince i have had with working on the car. Even pulling the motor+transmission at the same time was easier for me.
The engine actually lasted longer then I expected it to.. until about 218,000 miles. Something inside the motor gave out (sounded like a rod, smack, smack, smack, smack) and I continued to drive it for about a week because i knew the motor was gone and i was going to get another one anyway and i wanted to see just how stout this motor was. After about a week something started grinding really bad metal-on-metal style, while i was on my way to take it to the shop to have it pulled it lost all oil pressure and the grinding sound became immediately worse. Not being one to give up and shut it off I kept driving it to the shop. When i got there the shop owner came out and heard all the grinding, clanking, and whining coming from the engine and the look on his face was priceless!! I let it sit there idling (kind-of) for a bit and had to shut it off. It never quit on its own.
That being said I do drive my car like a truck (towing my friends broken down trucks out of the mud and home from the refuge, hard starts when i get the chance because its fun, running the motor at 4000+RPM for looooong periods of time) and i expect some parts to go out from time to time. But if i didnt, i would have to say that id expect most of the drivetrain parts to hold up for a long time behind a stock-ish LS1. It's a great car.
PS: what can i do with that old motor? its sitting in my shed, but all the crankshaft bearings are spun, most of the rod bearings, and probably some other stuff. I have not really looked into fixing up a 218000 mile LS1 because I thought it was time to let that motor rest in pieces. My best friend is dead set on getting a mustang though, and you all know what that means... I just dont know if that old motor is gonna be able to hang with being built up in my shed, to many miles?? any thoughts are welcome.
1999 T/A, nearing 150,000 miles. Worst things to happen have been blown-out tire (not really related to mileage, I know) and bad alternator, followed by a major leak and scary noises caused by inexpensive problems. I haven't had it long, and when something isn't malfunctioning, it runs well.
Just Have 98,826. on mine mostly stock and runnin" mid. 12's...I will just rebuild it at 100k or get a new ls3.
When I lived down in Houston I had a few mods done then I took it to a shop (Speed Deamons dont know if they are still around and dont care) to have a stall put on (Precision Industries Vigilante 2800 stall) and all was well.... For a few weeks untill the stall ate the stock trany, so I took it back to the small performance shop I told them the trany was gone and I wanted them to build me a stage 3 4L60E the owner said yeah sure so I got him the money and they built it. First day I got It back it worked pretty good but 4-5 days later the trany went out again so I took it back and they said they would rebuild it no charge so I said ok and after six count em six more times of the trany lasting only 3-4 days max each time I got it back, so after the last time it went out I had it hauled to Century Automotive & Transmishion in Richmond, TX and talked to Mike the owner about takeing appart my trany to see what that othe shop did to it. So he did and called me two days later he told me I should come in and see the trany for my self so I showed up that night and he showed me what it looked like, I just had to laugh when I saw it, it looked like (on the inside) like someone took it appart with a screw driver gouging the smooth sun shell to no end (the sun shell has to be smooth so it transfers the hydraulic pressure right ect.) so I asked him if I could have the old trany parts so I could go yell at the other shop owner with evidence. When I showed it to him he was apologizing left and right but said that he would not be able to get me my money back for a MONTH or so, well that pissed me right off and I said either you have my money back within the week or I will file a lawsuit and call better business bureau, that must have scared him because with in two days I had my money and tryed to forget about that shop. The next day I went back to Century Automotive & Transmishion to order a trany and ring and pinion gears, he showed me a few that he had built to with stand up to 720HP and it was the Stage 5 4L60E so i went for that it was a bit more but worth every penny, that trany is still running strong after five years of hard beating. Then my engine went last year I took it appart to find my #3 connetcing rod had ground down the crank journal so i replaced everything and added a cam plus lots of other stuff (would take a long time to write it all out) now I got her back on the road (just four days ago aug,3,2009) running really good, other than that she had been really good to me taking all of my abuse and still asking for more.
mine has 888888
(when it turns on):hide:
one in every crowd.lol
and its usually me.
I have 174,000 on mine. It's a daily driver. I commute 88 miles each way to work. Still hauls ass though...
am I the only one who thought the title said "Mile high club" ?
Now after reading how high all the 98's are on here I feel better, I got mine with 108k, 6 months ago, and today I just hit 114k. The last 2 weeks I have been driving the chit out of it. It was down for 3 weeks, master/slave booth went out.
I have a 2002 WS6 with 4,200 miles on her, purchased it with 3,500.....
2002 = 108,000 miles and still embarassing ricers and mustangs.
1998 176,XXX miles. 280.79 hp 313.65 lbs. tq a month ago bone stock with year old 87 octane gas
its all in my signiture. i havent been on the site for some time but my ride has been in the garge with the plates off for 3 years now. the tranny needs work and while im at it i am going to refresh the motor to 03 zo6 specs. it will be a long term project. no telling how many miles i would have had on it if the tranny had not started making grinding noises.:)
127K on my 98. The only problems I've had are a caliper braket bolt came off and locked my brake up, and a couple wheel studs broke. Both were kinda scary when they happened, but were really easy fixes. I still pound on it every day and go to the track on a regular basis, so I feel lucky.
99 with 120k. Runs like a champ. Great thing is the wife knows when doing routine things that only performance parts will replace the OEM parts so I do not have to take so much grief. If it was a low milage car with no problems then I would hear why are you changing that if it does not need it. I tried telling her my super charger was going to need to be replaced. Someone let her on to the fact I did not have one. Gotta try however.
How strong is the stock A4 transmission? Mine's at 139k.. same with the rearend. Still no problems. And I gun it as much as I can. :P.
I have an old V6 firebird I use as a mostly daily driver. It's also the car I take better working parts from when something goes wrong :v.
So far I've leeched a:
-Drivers side tail light housing
-Drivers side window motor with <1k miles on it
-Both uncracked door panels
Win!
111xxx on my 98... Thus far nothing too catastrophic minus a rack&pinion, o2s and all new brakes & calipers... Plans for an LS2 next summer
7,324....Yes you read it correct...

1995 Trans Am 6 speed. 108K, OEM clutch, water pump and opti. Major replacement parts: Structs & shocks (104K); spark plugs and wires (100K); head-liner (105K); new tires (3rd set for the car's history) 104K; stitched up driver's seat seam by back angle adjuster leaver (108K); power flush and re-install green coolent (owner # 2 replaced green with pink) 108K. Owner # 2 did replace one rear axle seal at 60K. Drive's strong, somethings diving into express way traffic have to remind myself at 65 MPH to shift into second gear!
01T/A with 109xxx it had 81xxx when i bought it a year and half ago...
only problems ive had is bad O2s, alt, power steering pump, fuel pump and of course i always need new rear tires!
98 TA with 49k miles mostly in storage
Issues:
Fuel pump
Water pump
Pop up headlight motor

I'm sure you can put that combo together for how it's being driven
Any suggestions on what I should plan on failing next? Power Steering pump?

My buddy just bought a '94 camero Z28 with over 239k miles on it, I've been telling him about the site, but he's affraid of people making fun of him for it. We've been rebuilding it a piece at a time, but he refuses to stop driving it, while we try to fix all the problems.
Does he have insecurity issues? I think anyone who owns a vehicle that is 16 years old with that many miles on it should be proud. He obviously loves his car, so, to heck with anyone who doesn't like it or to heck with anyone who talks down to him. I love my car and don't care who doesn't like it. I fell in love with it the first time I saw the advertisement for it when it went up through the tailpipe of the car in front of it and left a rotting, smoking corpse behind. I also remember seeing the front end with the fog lights and running lights on, thinking.....man, I HAVE GOT TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE!!! So, to your buddy, tell him we will support him and help him out to the best of our ability. We may have different makes and models, but they're still F-Bodies. And I think they are all pretty cool....
Lol, he didn't buy it becuase he loved the camero. he bought it for his wife to stop driving his truck into the ground, and she almost ran into me, while running a stop sign in it. The only reason I'm helping him rebuild it, is in hopes that he'll teach her how to drive.
Mine - 1999 Trans Am with 213,546. Still going strong but needs some restoration.
Oh ok I am in the national guard, I am thinking about going active duty after I get some college in(hopes of going officer maybe). And to tell you the truth I think Germany would be a whole lot more fun then FL lol. Yea I am not like how the national guard runs, it is kinda like the higher ups feel that they need to prove something to active duty and it gets annoying as shiot!
1994 with 136xxx and my dad has 1995 with 23xxx
102k and no signs of any major problems
274k 01 ws6!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow 274k !! Did the thing ever cool off LOL !! Is the original motor still in it? What kind of oil do u use? Do u drive it hard?:nana:
98 Forumla 203k stock motor.
96 T/A 201k stock motor.
Both run GREAT! Moble 1 their entire life.
02 ws6 140,000
98 trans am 124,000
just passed 40,000. does that count :)
Heck, in my books, that counts almost as a new car!!!!
I just bought my '98 T/A with 145K, Its my second LS1, Got my first when I was 16 in highschool with 26k on her, Sold it when I went to college for money and promised myself I'd get another, Here I am 23 and I love this car. Its a clean, unmolested example of a high mileage LS1, I plan on doing everything to it that I never got a chance to do to my 99 Z28.
Oh it is nice I picked her up for 5,500 cash. She's all mine til the day I die... Or she does... one or the other... Thing is my cousin is always telling me how much nicer his 40 thousand mile "Anniversary" Z28 is so much nicer but thing is he still owes like 3 more years on it and I have a Title to mine clean and clear
I bought a '98 Arctic White, WS6, M6 new from the factory back in '98 and paid 31K for her. Kept her til she had 152K, when I totalled her. You got a pretty good deal on yours! I knew even at 152K miles, it still had another 50K easily. From 10K, I used Mobil1 synthetic and a low micron oil filter. It's hard knowing what history your car has had not knowing firsthand what care has been taken or not taken. I knew exactly what mine had and I was like you, wanted to keep her til Jesus comes back. This one is a 2000 with 126K and it smokes blue on cold start-ups. Obviously not taken care of as it should have been. Hope yours lasts as long as possible~!!!
Yeah biggest reason I got her was because she was totally stock and carfax checked out good I'm the 3rd owner no wrecks. First thing I did what swap out all fluids for Royal Purple, I know I've heard some bad reviews on here about the stuff but I run it in my other vehicles because a guy I work with sells it and I get a good deal. Also about week after I got her back in september I got a set of Y2K Vette Wheels...Always wanted a set. Also a new lid and ram air setup put on her. Also I got a new set of Hooker headers and Y-pipe I'm still yet to get on. Yeah big plans yet for this car shes going to be everything I couldn't afford in highschool.

Here's a link to a pic after I got my rims on...Not to sure if it will work though???
No, it's asking for your user name and password in the facebook window. What I recommend is getting a photobucket account set up if you don't already, sending your pics to photobucket, then once you get the pic uploaded, click on the "IMG code", right click, left click 'copy', then go to the "reply to thread" page here on LS1.com and right click and 'paste' in the reply window. This will link that pic in photobucket to this reply window. That is the easiest way to show us pics of your ride. If you need any more help, let me know.
2000 TA 110k mi purchased it with 105 hoping to get over 220:flex:
