Another stupid questions about cars thread.

So one of the girls in my gfs classed told everyone that the difference in a manual car and an automatic is that manuals dont have a throttle body....

what the fuck... the girls drive a 99 v6 catfish and says she rewired a lot of it. My gf told me that doesnt sound right because I had mine ported on my car and I was gonna port hers on her car.. she corrected the girl and got into a big argument with a bunch of people..

Ive been asked at least 5000 stupid questions about cars.

Heres a couple for an example..


"Thats a ws6 right with the ws6 tranmission?"
"No... its a trans am with a ram air hood, its a 4 speed automatic, not a 6 speed manual"
"What... man that sucks man, those things are fast you wish you had one?"
"No, I have a 3600 stall/tranny in the shop."
"What?"
(Shake head and go into full depth convo.. apparently way over their head)

Next.

Pull up to a real ws6 in the local cruise spot. Pop hoods. and begin to start talking about mods...(mine had only a P&P TB at the time)
"Yeah, I got a shift kit, ls1 lid, and a shock brace.. guy at the shop told that it should be making around 415 to the wheels now"
"Thats cool, thats cool."
"Yeah its a lot faster than when I got it, wanna see?"
"Sure, im probably making about 300 to the wheels"
I proceed to blow the doors off this car three times that night, two from a dig and one from a roll.
Obviously a ws6 with a lid, stb, and a shift kit is much faster than a stock trans am

Ohh where to begin! most of mine involve ricers...and we all know how that turns out!

My buddy and I roll up in his 95z and there is this tool standing there next to his integra. We get out of the car to go into the store and he says nice car man. My buddy just said thanks and the guy said "yeah those things are pretty fast, I have seen them hit low 16's before!" my buddy "uhh no sorry its a high 13 second car" ricer "nuhh uhh you have to be able to lift the front tires to run a 13"
So i guess every front wheel drive car is fucked then! I got lots more I'll post them later.

i was at a car sow once showing my 99 z...when this kid..id guess 13 or 14 comes up trying to be cool with me. says hey is that a 4 cylinder or 6? i say...its a v8.....he then says is that fwd or rwd...i say rwd...he then says is that turbo? i then say yes its twin turbo with a super charger on top, and i have a button in my car to make it awd when i want to...then he was all impressed with this...i told him to fuck off.....end of story

one guy swore my car was a V6 even though he heard my exhaust cackling and all.

Hey, did you know that this engine is actually called a "wedge engine" b/c the cylinder doesn't meet the head at a 90° perpindicular? Ya, it meets at a bit of an angle and makes a wedge-shape during compression.

Ricer walked away mumbling something about it being a "fast" time. Not even 10 mins later I overheard him saying how he wanted a civic cause they are sooooooo much Faster then V8s :wtf:

Another ricer same day came over to me while I am putting my helmet on and IN my car and asks "Is that your car?" of course I said yes then he asked "Are you gonna race?"
No you fucking twit I wear a helmet as a fashion statement and wait an hour in the lanes to piss everyone else off :sillyme:

I get told Nice Grand Am. Even in High Performance Pontiac finishing runner up in a bracket race.

I used to get asked all the time if my 94 GTP was supercharged. The badge didn't say supercharged and it said 24_VALVE_V6 on the fenders and with the hood up you saw no blower:rant:

Is that one of them new Cavaliers?
Is that a front wheel drive?

My wife sells cars...

She sold a 4 wheel drive suv last week to a guy who traded in a front wheel drive car. His reasoning was winter is coming and he wanted to be safe...

Ok. No problem with winter and four wheel drive, but here is the rest...

He had crappy bald summer tires on his regular car (which was only a couple of years old and in great shape). He bitched about the poor gas mileage in the vehicle he was purchasing... My wife sugged to him that he might simply want to put four snow tires with studs on for the winter and see what happens... He said that snow tires won't help...

The guy drives 20 highway miles back and forth to work five days a week and lives in a housing development... It isn't like he is back roading or anything...

Ive noticed that people get out of my way when Im coming up on them in the T/A more so than any other car. Gotta admit the front of the 4th gens are pretty intimidating especially a WS6 or clone.

No one cars about your car unless they themselves own an f-body. I do get some respect from mustang GTs.

In this area if you dont drive some 100k Euro car its nothing to take a second look at.

Just wait till I get my LTs and cut out in.... Then I should have some good stories. As of now after 2 years, nothing really.

had a guy in a 6.0 GTO try to tell me and my brother (OMGLS1JZ) that he made 540whp with full exhaust, handheld tuner and a cold air intake, we almost threw up when he told us that. i told him i was prob around 300whp. raced him that night like 5 times and i pulled him about 1-2 cars, he has been avoiding me since then.

too bad he was gay like that, it was probably the nicest GTO in the tulsa, ok area.

Yea you cant beat the torque of those 3.8s.....(Im bout in tears on the inside now) but it sounds good for a 3.8...

Oh, they are telescoping, to change the sound i just hit this switch (dual cutouts)....

Whoa them really work....i was thinkin bout getting some for my focus......you cant beat the sound from high displacement motors....

At this point i bounced into 2nd and hammered it and was instantly sideways, so i let out and it snapped back....Yea lots of power....

I love impalas, is it a 62-63? Very good engine, the 327 with the heads you are referring to. Thats 360 horses right?

I worked with a kid (lube tech) at my last job that pulled a car out with no brake pads in the front calipers. That kid was beyond comprehension.

It's a 66 4DR. The engine was only rated at 275-300 for that model according to mortec. The Vettes got the 375hp 327, probably a few other Chevy's but I'm not sure. Hopefully I'll have it built up to make that kind of power and more before I drop It back in.

Back on topic, when I had my 03' Grand Am a co-worker who drives a 02' mustang gt told me my "Firebird" was a POS, and then asked why I wasted money on a "Chevy" when I could have got my money's worth with a "Pontiac Trans Am". Later on we were in the smoking area,(parking lot), and my car was within range to where I know he seen the Grand Am emblem, he tried not say anything but was busted out by another co-worker.
