Im starting to get aggrivated!! I have been looking for a good month on the net and around town for another ls1, and cant seem to find one. All the good sales are in other parts of the country, forcing me to either spend a day driving and another day comming back or flying. Also it seems every1 wants their cars gone "as soon as possible" but want a pretty penny for it, and are not willing to budge on the price. How long did u wait to get ur car?
I waited four months to find the TA and eight months to find the S4. Hang in there the right one will come. If you find one out of state have someone on the forum look at it for you.
what are u looking for and how much
I waited for about 1 yr. Had a 97 firebird and wanted a t/a about a month after i bought the bird. started looking and took me about a year to find the one i have now. bought it in 05 its a 2000 and paid 15500 with 60k on it.
I looked for about 6 months till I found the right one. Well 6 months of searching and the one I have now is the first one I checked out in person.
looking for a 98+ SS OR WS6. MUST BE A 6 SPEED. It must have at least a cam (if not h/c or stroker) and be in good condition. I would prefer if it had an aftermarket rear and clutch because with 400+ hp i dont see both of them lasting to long. Looking for it to be driving distanct from jersey.
7+ months. It was a long and strenuous time but well worth it good luck
i had my car for sale but the wanted the car for a real cheap price and i decided to keep it than give it away
look into cars.com locally plenty of cars close by
4 days, i was looking for a gt origanilly. we were driving on the freeway and happened to see purple gt sitting at a dealer. Pulled over and saw the red ss sitting a couple of feet away. after i saw the camaro i never looked back at the gt. took it home 4 days later.
2 years, i was very specific on what i wanted and now that i have i never looked back. they say good things come to those who wait.
i waited 10 years, finally got a t/a this morning!!!
still looking since sept for a more stock WS6 6 speed. If only they didn't make autos and pewter cars.

Well, ever since '98 (When I was in 5th grade) I wanted one :lol: ...took about 2 months of actually searching to find what I was looking for (had to be Black, WS6 Package and 6 Speed). Bought mine in Detroit...flew up there, drove it back.

got to ride in one my freshman year, and was in love.... i immediately was looking for what i wanted...a 00 or newer black ws6 Trans Am.... sophomore year bout bought a pewter v-6 that had tinted windows and some odd and end stuff... but the parents talked me out of it....then my junior year a local shop got in a mint black Trans Am but not a ws6...i was figgured i could settle for a non ws6...but i didnt get to it fast enough and a local buy it.... once again i was all depressed...then one night after a wrestling tournament i was on my way home and decided to swing though the lot of a local shop and as i pulled in BAM ...right there angle parked so it was staring you down as you entered......was a 00 black ws6 T/A....my dream had been answered, so i looked it over drooled on it, and went home woke my parents at 3am and told them i found my car... for the next week i bugged the hell outa my parents, and stopped into the dealership every day after school, ran a carfax, had loan figgured out, just needed the parents ok... that friday i went in and stopped in after school and imediatly noticed it was moved and parked next to the building.... i was immediately sick to my stomach thinking someone else had bought it, so i put it in park and went to walk inside and my dad walked out the door and thew me the keys and said it's yours.........i had died and went to heaven, all i had to do was walk inside and throw some signatures on some papers and i was off........
thats how i ended up with john wayne...
i looked for about 3 or 4 months before i found mine. I wanted a WS6 but settled for the t/a because it was a 6speed all stock with only 83,xxx miles on it.
2 years for my first LS1. Parents co-signed on a black '98 WS6 in Nov. 1999. Already had a '94 Z28.
Took me about 2-3 months of looking after I had decided to get one. It was tough finding ones, all the ones I found were either overpriced, too far away, or just not what I was looking for. I also sent a ton of emails to people selling them online, and had a tough time getting people to even write back. THAT was really frustrating. Every day I'd get home from work and spend a good hour and a half online just searching all the auto ads.
As wrong as it is, I actually ended up buying the first one I drove. I don't recommend it, but it worked out okay for me, as I've put 18k basically trouble free miles on it.
I was just so sick of searching, and I really wanted a Formula, and I just fell in love with the NBM/tan combination.
With those mods in good shape be prepared to pay a pretty penny.Quote:

I have seriously been looking for a ta for the last 8 years or so. Since I am finally in a postion to afford the finer things. Originally wanted a 88 or 89 GTA. Always ran into a deal breaker in one form or another.
Then I fell in love with the 4th gen. Looked around for a few years came close a few times.
A few months ago ran into a 2000 ws-6 for a steal and took it hook line and sinker.
All my life......... I still want a TA but i bought the z28 because who can turn down 100k mile car for 3k... Really, perfect car. Anyway yeah i looked physically for about a year before i found it. Almost bought a 5.0 instead :hahano:

so you want to pay less for a car that's worth more? Don't be cheap about it, or else get a stock car for less and put the time into it. You have to expect people will try to get back the money they spent on mods.Quote:

I waited almost a year for mine. I ordered a '98 from the factory, Arctic White, WS6, Ram Air, M6 and drove her for 9 years and put 152K miles on her. I met my beautiful bride on myspace, drove from Houston, TX to Kodak, TN and on our second date, we were on our way home and I missed a curve and flipped her end over end twice, and rolled her 7 times....7 breaks in my neck later, along with a broken back, I had to wait one year before finding my '00 in Maine on E-Bay. I have found that most of the time, people are asking way too much for their T/A's, and if you follow the bids, most of the time, they don't meet the reserve price, and consequently don't sell, and you can contact them and make them an offer. That is what I did with mine....it didn't sell, and when I contacted them, they were ready to deal, due to the fact that no one had made an offer or that the reserve was not met. I saw some T/A's going for $30K, and if you have that kind of money it may be worth it for one that doesn't have any more than 10 or 20K miles on it. I did not have that kind of money...I had 12K and looked in that price range and found a lot of WS6 Ram Air's that were in really good shape....only problem being the miles on them....most had 100K and up. But, what I've found is most T/A owners are like Harley owners, they knew what they had when they bought it and took care of it accordingly. Not everyone will use synthetic oil for the life of the vehicle, but I know this...My '98 engine would have looked brand new had someone opened it up and took micrometer readings of the internals...I used Mobil 1 synthetic ever since 10K miles....these are awesome cars...you take care of them, and they will take care of you...!!!!!!:nana:

Hate to be negative but mods actually drop bluebook value, they're seen as a factor that drops reliability. Just go to any dealership, ask for a trade in appraisal and see if they care how many mods are on your car. Trust me I've been screwed over by this before big time. If its a private sale you can ask for more but ultimately, and sadly enough, any car is only worth what's on paper.Quote:

about 10 minutes i was on my way to pay off my truck and just happind to see it on the lot and stop to look. when the guy sead it had 8000 miles on it i sead i would test drive it. pulled back in and sead i would take it.
I waited about 5 minutes...Saw it on Ebay and bought it for $9200 with no trans and 50k miles. Hell of a deal considering the turbo, new 383 stroker (aside from the on in the car, which the 383 cost him almost what I paid for the whole car), and a shit ton of after market parts to go on it.
Bought my 96 TA WS6 over 3 years ago. Was going to buy my cousins 91 Corvette but decided to get the TA. Found mine on ebay. Went to Georgia to pick it up. Auto Trader.com has a lot of TA's and Camaro's. Just take your time and buy what you want, don't settle for less. Just do a lot of research and look at different rides online to get an idea of average prices based off of the condition you would like your ride to be in and go from there. You may find a ride that mechanically has been well taken care of but just needs a little tlc and you might get a better price for it if you are willing to do the work to get it where you want it.
I haven't driven my TA for over a year and a half though. Its driving me nuts. A wrist pin went out July of 07 and I ended up putting a 2002 Camaro SS LS1/Trans in it which looks and sounds great. Just have electrical pin relocations and ac to finish before I can drive it. Anyways, I put the LS1 in it because I already had a lot of money invested in the car and it has a lot of sentimental value to it. Overall the car was in great shape and I prefer the sharper 96-97 WS6 look versus the newer style so I decided it was worth the trouble of doing a swap. I received a settlement so there was no large amount of money out of my pocket, just time. Plus Ive noticed over the last few years that Ive owned my TA that the value of it has gone up, at least with people who are Pontiac lovers.
