GM stock. haha
coke and hookers
If you have a auto go with a stall and a good cooler. If m6 headers, cam and springs.
This isn't your first thread on this.
If you get used you can get more and if you do it on your own that much more still.
You could get a set of headers and a cam with a tune possibly even nitrous if your thrifty. With just headers your looking at 330ish rwhp, depending on cam a 220 will put you at 360ish-370's 224 380's-390's add nitrous on top of it pushing 450 rwhp or more. I doubt you will be able to afford the nitrous on $1300
how much will it cost to get a cam installed
you can do it yourself it would be alot cheaper, otherwise look at spending about $80 an hour for a mechanic to do it and anywhere from 3-4 hours of labor.
i was thinking about going with pacesetter longtubes and an ORY, electric cutout and a tune.
yea i'd definately get an aggressive stick n some LTS for it. seriously doin a cam swap in an ls1 is 'bout dick simple. it is not even necessary to take anything up top off ('cept valve covers) in order to do the swap. get yerself some nice pushrods...some pace setters are cheap way to get LTS on there too, both of these are in the 1000 range and without head work and the right cam you can get well above 350 wheel out of it with a good tune. and for a few hundo more you can do some head work to those ls1 heads to complement cam.
do i need some supporting mods with a cam
yah headers otherwise your stuck with a smaller cam if you can't afford the cam get a intake manifold.
if i do an intake manifold in need headers...so for now im going with LT's and a ORY i think
not too many locals around me
better make some friends:chuckles:
or take a long weekend and do it yourself
the only thing is a local shop said if they do the work they will guarantee my car will pass inspection in NY its $250-300 for installation
sounds cheap enough sounds like they have never done f-bodies before if you can get them to do it for 300 and you can afford it go for it.
yeah mike at new era said the most for installation would be 300 so im gunna go for it as of now unless i get some other ideas....maybe a stall but i just dont know yet
A stall would be a really nice compliment to an a4.
thats what i hear haha
but how much will that cost me
a cam and LT's with ls1 manifold willl be way more hp than stock cam w/ LT's and ls6 or better man. in fact the gains you will see upgradin manifold w/ stock cam wont be worth the price-go for the cam.
oh and the LT's would be all you needed to complement that cam until you can save up for a manifold later on. and when i say they are both within 1000 i mean you can get BOTH for a grand or under. cam: 3-450 dependin on what ya get and who ya get it from, and pace setters are bout 5-600 for coated's and 4-5 for painted's. and 100-150 for pushrods.
Are all these prices included with the install?
no this is self-install prices. i can give you elaborate step by step's to installin cams tho. if you can jack up your car and remove the radiator you can do cam swap in an ls1. not to mention there are tons of great books on all kinds of ls1 builds. ls1 owners make great authors...must be somethin 'bout their intelligence....
what kind of stall should i go with
match it to the cam you plan or are getting
do i need SFC's
They will make the car a lot more stiffer and will make lauching less of a bitch on the frame and put the force of the car where you want it on the back wheels
Best thing to do is what your doing do your research and get as much info as you can and then make a list of what you have planned for the car. Makes it easier and less of a mess been working on my list for some time now
yes get SFC's especially if ya got t-tops. slp prob best one's with their triangular design-they really tie the car together-floor pan and SF.
ya got the hard top eh....hate to add to the list but koni adjustables and a drop will put that thing on rails.
you got tan leather bluefield?
wow so ya got an auto tho huh? that's the closest thing ive ever seen to mine. no rear defrost.
This might help I asked this same question a month ago.. basically same thread

yea mine is stick w/ no rear def
