1.98 in several places here in Indy, Brownsburg (5 miles west) making headlines one place had been 1.86-1.89 all week. For 87 octane of course.
Sub $2 89 octane and sub $3 diesel SW of Dallas/Ft. Worth.
They're practically giving it away!
1.97 at race track over in denton. like 2.12 where im at at 7eleven
Can someone tell me WHY this is happening? If it can go down, it can go back up without explanation...
I paid 2.07 yesterday. I almost started humping the gas pump when $45 fill my truck! It's 1.98 in some areas around Columbus.
Well when a few weeks ago when that last hurricane hit they also said they will stop buying gas from Saudi Arabia. Meaning we not going to pay over 100 bucks a barrel. And both of the new president candidates want to start having more drilling done within 50 miles of our border. Last time I checked we are paying like 65 a barrel. I guess gas is still expensive here, I am still paying 2.2X a gallon.
I have my own theory ...The economy.
When money was flowing like beer at a frat house, lot's of demand for fuel to support the building boom.
When the bubble burst, the trickle down effect saw demand drop because less building taking place.
We will probably see a slow rise in fuel prices while the recovery takes place.
Gas will go up after the election
I can't keep up with the falling price. It was 1.95 a lot of places this morning when I went on the Saturday morning donut run.
1.95 in cincinnati, but 2.2x just across the river in kentucky :ahh:
Don't get caught up in this shit guys, IT'S STILL EXPENSIVE!
I disagree. $2 a gallon for gas is cheap. I was paying 1.39 for 89 octane way back in 1980, it was hard to scrounge up $5 for gas then for an evening of cruising. If it kept up with inflation, it would be around $4.10 a gallon, so this is why I say $2 a gallon is cheap.
Well the summer driving season is over.
People are driving less because they are broke
The election
George Bush called in some favors to help get Mccain elected.
the dollar has gained some ground against other currencies over the past few weeks which has made it a better market for us to buy oil in since oil is traded on the dollar. also with the global and national economies in recession there is less oil being used, at least stateside, and so part of it is that demand is coming down so they are charging less. if demand increases so will price again. there are other factors primarily about the economy but those are some of the big ones.

This is a zoomable map, right down to individual gas stations, though not all of them are shown.
It's updated regularly.
TSS for me b-day tommorow i want a pot of gold and for you to shake your magic shalele(sp?) and make gas go down to 99 cents...
i would then go into more debt and buy a engine cover set if you did :)
Well, the Shell V-Power 93 octane was 2.23 this morning, so I filled the tank and went for a drive. Drove 145 miles, came back to Shell to refill the tank, the price had dropped to 2.17. Still falling! I drove 145 miles, got 22.3 MPG on some hard driving. Drove some nice curving roads down to Story IN this afternoon to take in some fall colors and enjoy the 70 sunshiney day.
Yea I just filled up this evening for $1.99 a gallon for 87!!!!!!!! I couldn't belive it, but I agree also, this is cheap considering the wage & price of gas 4-5 years ago was this, & I sure wasn't making what I am now!
Bah...damn gas shortage we had here is still being milked apparently.
A couple stations around here still don't have premium and the lowest within reasonable distance to me is 2.59 for reg. Been fluctuating 2.49-2.79 up and down everyday for the past couple weeks.
Lowest I've seen period was 2.33, and that was a good hour or so away.
1.97 gallon for regular. Gas at $2 a gallon is about the right price for it. If it, and oil continue to fall there will be alot of oil and gas company's starting to lay people off. Hell, Chesapeake Energy already is.
Well you got me there, my pay has been stagnant the last 6 or so years also. At least next year I get 5 weeks vacation. (20 years at the company, after 25 I will get 6!) We have a [I]little[I] more cash now, the wife has started a part time job last summer, the first she has worked since our daughter was born 6 years ago.
$1.96 this morning in San Antonio. That is for regular unleaded.
I think its because of the election. One less thing for the voters to be pissed about. Itll be sky high again in no time.
I personally see it at an overseas bailout attempt. Those guys over their arent stupid. They know how to manipulate oil prices to best suit their needs... which is why they pushed prices to the absolute upper limit of what we would/could pay for them... then with the giant hiccup in our economy, and it being in ACTUAL danger of collapsing to a large degree, they dropped prices to lend a stabilizing effect... because if our shit really crashed, and tons of people got laid off, thats a SHITLOAD of people that wouldn't be able to afford any gas to keep profiting Saudi.
Thats just my opinion... and honestly I think it makes perfect sense.
^I pretty much agree.
It was more or less a scouting attempt to find out the maximum profit they could make without crippling the world...and they found it. Now that people are praising 2.50 a gallon like it actually resembles "cheap" ...I image prices will stagnate somewhere around there. Especially post-election.
