Honestly I don't know what to do first!!! Really the way it comes stock with all these options it already feels modded hahahaha especially since I used to drive a v6 before it. I will always use this site to check for the best things to do though. You guys are the experts.
looks awesome!
I KNOW! HAHAHAHA I'm so happy I feel like my first kid has been born. hahaha, almost brings tears to my eyes. I just noticed to day that I have the GU6 option and I already know that means I have 3.42 gears in the back. I had the same ones in my v6 and it was a little swift on take off with them. All I know is I have no problem breaking the tires a loose in first, ever! I am still intimidated by the car to be truthful, but everyday I get more and more used to it. While I was looking for a car I was driving my girl's 5spd stang gt and grew a little fond of it, but the whole time I knew what I wanted! I happened to get my car 99% the way I wanted it. I wanted black, but I still can't complain. I have to say the only thing I fell in love with on my girl's gt was the convertible top. One thing I notice about our cars(ls1 6spds) is that we have a hell of a lot longer first gear than those 4.6s do. I love it!
It's funny as hell how I ended up with pewter again, huh?
As far as mods go who know's what I'll do first? I know what catback I want. I know I want it procharged. And I know I want 17x11 wheels in the back to help me grip like crazy.
Any how I have been spending cash on it, such as tires. I found some on tirerack.com pretty cheap and they have exceptional performance (so says the reviews). I can't wait to get them on and play around and burn a little rubber.
One funny thing about my car is that I think everyone sees SS and they're scared to even rev up at me hahaha!
wanna buy that cover?
I've actually decided to go for the carbon fiber ones, thanks though.
I had a 96 black camero and now have a 00 pewter ws6. I like pewter much better. It does not get dirty as easy. Also after time black paint shows swirls in direct sun light. Stick with pewter!
that's cool, I do like pewter, but I think when I get the cash the color will change too.
hey I'm from Chattanooga to and love my 99 pewter Z28 with gfx
I own an Onyx Black SS, and I will tell you like this, Black looks the best when cleaned and pampered, its just hard to beat a freshly cleaned black car...........Now the downfall, Black shows everything, small scratches, dents and dings, dirt and swirl marks, in all black is gonna take lots of time and attention to maintain, where as the peweter is a lighter shade, meaning its almost impossible to see dirt, and swirl marks like you would see on black. If you live where it is crazy hot, then you may wanna stay away from black.
cool, maybe I'll see you around and maybe we can look for some imports to beat up on together hahaha. My girl has a 2000 mustang gt too so we can all 3 be at it. you might see us riding around together(white gt and pewter drop top SS) if you see an SS pewter black top then it's a 99.99999% chance its me. I haven't see any other convertible pewter ss s here.
Thats right, I my self have a pewter ss,I say you stay pewter. You can hardly notice dirt on that color, and with black if you dont take every precaution to wash it real careful cuz if you dont you will see all kinds of swirl marks, that is not good looking at all.
yea I know... I think I've actually become an expert at cleaning cars now. With my old pewter v6 I used to wash it soooooooo much and just detail the heck out of it and put it into car shows. Now I've got my SS and the same thing goes with it. I haven't been in any shows with this one, but I plan to in the future.
Guys I've actually started up my own detail shop this summer. I did a black '04 H2 like Tuesday. I think that's the most expensive ride I've cleaned so far. I noticed that I will have to wash the outside last and do the inside first next time, I some how got little drops of something on it after I finished. Otherwise it would've been perfect. Black is tricky.
It would be easier to repaint it the same color of course, but black looks way better! Personally I don't care for Pewter it looks dirty all the time, like a dirty silver or tan car. I just never understood why anyone would actually want that color. But that's just me, no offense to anyone.
Its a very nice color for stock, and when it's clean and well taken care of you can tell. There is an employee with a v6 camaro and when I'm there I'll most likely park next to it, but you can most definitely tell the difference between their paint and mine. I mean I damn near wax and polish it more than I wash it. So basically my color looks much deeper and wayyyyy glossier than the usual you may see riding around. Stock paint can look very good too!
From the way I take care of my paint now, it makes me confident that if/when I do black it will be the cleanest black around.
Not sure how correct my source is here but is it true if you paint the car a different color it loses some retail value?
^^^that's correct.
I'd figure that, but my car isn't retail, it's priceless! The funny thing is... is that I don't drive it like it costed $35,000 or the $18,000 that it costed me, I drive it how a Camaro is supposed to be driven. It's a lot of fun, and a rush to drive everyday. So far when I'm accelerating hard the only one to pass me is my friend with a ws6 with a sts turbo and more on it. When you're in 3rd and pulling hard and then he passes you, your mouth just drops hahaha
