Quick Noob question for the gearheads that come into this train. I put it in here since this little noob question is really not worth starting a thread about.
Getting a catback exhaust vs. just buying an aftermarket muffler, now does the catback really show THAT much of an improvement in power/flow when compared to just getting an aftermarket muffler? How drastic would the differences in power actually be between the two?
Sorry for the noob question again guys. I've just always wondered this.
Depends. Most companies fab kits with larger piping with smooth bends for maximum flow. You gain some HP with a catback as well. Not much, but some. Usually mufflers alone will give you a deeper tone. I vote for catbacks as once the factory pipes rust, you will have to replace the pipes anyway.
This was much easier. However I may swap to the LS1 in my trans am as soon as the new toy is done  http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2.../doodle016.jpg
I think you should get busy with ideas for my emblems :toetap:
Very busy at work lately. How about you?

:hifinger:
even with a limp dick cammed 8.5:1 350 magnapacks are louder than fuuuuggg. Shop did 2.5" pipe even though I purposely got 2.25" collectors and mufflers. Also didn't do an h-pipe, i'm sure that had something to do with my dad... Would be an fuuuuuuuuu moment but it sounds good
Oh alright thanks goat, iroc, and wheelie. I understand now.
And wheelie, yea I wasn't really referring to a mustang, I was just asking in general.
But FYI wheelie, I mean, you get a super small gain from getting a catback on a gt, like 7-10rwhp I believe or somwhere around that margin. I mean it helps a little bit. Speaking on behalf of what I read on the 2v mustang forums.
