Maryland State Trooper was killed last night in Price George County. He was off duty working security when he escorted an individual out of an Applebees who didn't want to pay his bill. Who knows in this case. It's been established that it looks grim for this officer. From what I understand he has been close to being fired before.

Now, if a person is hyped up on PCP or whatever other crazy dust they take...who knows. Even if they are 6'3 300 lbs with the adrenaline pumpin, I hope it wouldn't take many .45 rounds to stop the person.

You never know. There are some big crazy guys out there. Plus the officer missed with about half of his shots. I can see having to shoot a crazed, drug-hyped criminal 6 or 7 times, especially if body armor, bad aim, or an opposing weapon are introduced into the mix. I hope I NEVER need to empty my pistol into one guy to stop him.

On topic, I'm glad to see that this cop will likely be charged. Hopefully they hit him as hard as the law allows; this POS never needs to walk the street again.

I was always told in training that the number one priority is going home to my family at the end of the shift. I'd rather be investigated for excessive force for shooting a guy with a pocketknife than be buried for getting my throat slit while going hands on. There is a saying: "Better judged by twelve than carried by six." As long as I am acting in a way that the average reasonable law enforcement officer would in that situation, then I should be fine in court. It is certainly better than second-guessing whether your reaction to a threat is politically correct. Plus my agency has really good lawyers; as long as you don't do anything ridiculous and you tell the truth from the start, they've got your back ;)

True but I dont take the Marine (2 tours in Iraq) as a crazed, drug-hyped criminal. Is he getting stereotyped because he is black? I am never against law enforcement as a whole. But just like in civilian life you have your bad apples. I will be glad to say I am wrong if we find out the Marine was a crazed, drug hyped criminal. But I think I will wait until more info is out about what happened. I dont think we can judge for either side until then.

No, I highly doubt that he was doing anything that would warrant that response. I am 100% disturbed by this story. I would not be surprised if he was a little out of line, but should he have been gunned down? Negative. More than likely, the alcohol impaired the already questionable judgement of the officer to the point of no return.

We were also very strongly instructed to NEVER carry while intoxicated. I find that to be an unbelievably stupid course of action.

I am distrubed also but understand this is the action of one person. The sad part will be many people will say all law enforcement is like this. When it is just the act of one person.

I agree 100%, I know that feeling all too well.

This whole thing is a crock. And now it has turned into a manhunt. The situation wasn't already messed up enough; the cop is now nowhere to be found. I hope he gets put away for the rest of his life.

Yeah they are now saying

Arrest Warrant Issued For Gahiji Tshamba

Police said the off-duty officer shot and killed Brown after Brown allegedly groped Tshamba's female companion.

Police said so far, they have found no evidence indicating that Tshamba's life was in danger when he fired the shots. Authorities said the officer still hasn't talked with them.

And as you have stated can not be found now..

While I agree that this guy is lowlife who doesn't represent cops as a whole, What really disturbs me is why was this piece of crap allowed to decline to take a breathalyzer. Would I as a regular citizen have been able to just decline to take one. If not than there is problem with this police dept that goes higher than this one crappy cop. It is stories like this of cops getting special treatment that I think pisses most people of about cops. If you are entrusted with enforcing the laws of this country than you need to be held to the same if not higher standard

Here in the Chi...there is no option. An off duty officer must take the breath test.

Hmmmm.....I disagree. Being in the military does not make one a better American. There are many cops out on the street who do their part for this country on the homefront, tho this one appeared to have a serious alcohol issue.

Cops are NOT just civilians with a badge, they are sworn officers of the law that are given the powers bestowed upon them by the government albeit local, state or federal. If a cop is just a civilian with a badge, then what is an American soldier.....a guy with a gun and a uniform?

I agree, no one is or should be above the law, but depending on where you live and in many, many cases, cops on trial get it WORSE than the average person because they are supposedly held to a higher standard. Tho union, by-laws and others crap make it extremely hard to fire a cop, I'd be surprised if he does not get fired.
