Lou Beck, Gary Rosington
this is a tough question, who is my favorite guitarist, as in, music i listen to, or who blows me away with his technical abilities?
jimji hendirx or jimmy page are my favorite as far as "listening" music is concerned.
yngwie malmsteen absloutley blows me away with his ability, but its almost worthless. id never buy a cd from him, or burn his music to a cd.
SRV
Ted Nugent
Eddie Van Halen
Eric Clapton
Randy Rhoades
Joe Satriani
Gary Hoey
Steve Vai
Eric Johnson
Lots of others, but they came to mind first.

Here is another guy I really like. His chops are unreal.

I saw Tracii Guns play in an intimate setting. Never seen another pro up close like that.
However, I'd probably pick as my favorite a guy who looks and acts like him (uncomplimentary) and has a much longer resume: Neal Schon.
Bad as a guitarist? Bad in the Michael Jackson way? Bad as a person?
Rusty Cooley... considered in the top 18 for fastest guitarist.

Rusty is amazing technically, but I find his stuff repetitive and boring. IMO he is a guy full of tons of training and technical prowess that writes very uninteresting and soulless compositions.
