:bump: anyone else with some suggestions?
One last question, if I plead "Not Guilty" and the officer doesn't show up at the next court date, will they drop the charges automatically?
Between now and then, I'd get the registration thing fixed if you haven't already. (I didn't read all of your posts)
I'd try to get that speed contest thing thrown out - and use a lawyer if you think you need to. If found guilty, that could be a huge hike in insurance costs.
Get rid of the blue light, take pictures, and show the court you did it.
Since you're just out of the military, and corrected two of the fines in the mean time, not to mention you didn't exceed the speed limit, I bet the judge would give you some leniency.
Good luck!
If the officer doesn't show up, then yes.
But, be prepared for him to show up in any case.
Rideon1200 had it right....35 is 35...period! This is one you should have no problem getting away from. The registration is resonable based on how long its been unregistered (depends on the judge and with most...getting it fixed after the fact means jack...at least here in Illinois) and the light should be a win for you cuz hopefully you can prove it's operation better than the cop (i.e. wiring diagrams, but that's extreme).
I, personally, would not have wrote the tix if you had license and insurance, but then again I may not have stopped you at all.
I disagree with that part....... speed contest is speed contest. MPH doesn't really matter. An example would be doing a 20 roll....is it racing if you nail it with someone at 20mph and let off at 65mph? I think so. I would lawyer up myself. He could probably beat it but it's Cali. we're talking about and they're not known to go lightly on car enthusiasts.
He said the registration is a fix it ticket. I am getting it registered this friday. I am also hoping that they will drop the light one because I have removed it and will be taking it in to court with me along with my registration. Hopefully, either I can have the cop not show up to the second hearing and have the judge drop the "Speed Contest" or have my lawyer take care of it.......
the speed contest is going to be tough to beat....be prepaird to go to traffic school if they let you...judges dont like racers... everything else is a fix it..since you took off the blue light you should be ok....good luck with that...
I guess the cop said there is a different ticket between actual street racing and a speed contest. I talked to my lawyer on thursday and he said it's a b.s. charge. He asked me the cops name and he said oh yeh he has written 3 others of these in the past month that I have fought and won, I am definatly going to mention that to the districts attorney is what he told me so we'll see what's gonna happen next stay tuned:dot:
