FUUUUUUUUU. Why do so many people buy full size trucks with 4.6's, 4.7's, and 4.8's (looking at used trucks from all of the big 3)
Because people are stupid and think "deeeeyheeey, it's a v8. it r fast". 290 lb/ft of torque is not enough for a 5000+ pound truck
Because options sell? Ford Ranger, best example I can comeup with. 4cyl, 3.0 6cyl and 4.0 6cyl. There are SHITLOADS of 3.slows out there. I think people bought the 3.0 thinking 'smaller motor, less gas', which couldn't be further from the truth. The 4.0 beats it on fuel mileage AND power. Doesn't make sense why they'd even offer 2 v6 motors. Same goes for the old Fullsize Ford Broncos. 302 or 351...the 302 would get 10mpg flat, no matter what, 351 would get 12-15mpg. Stupid underpowered 302 in that huge boat.
As far as 4.7 dodges. We had an '03 qc/sb with 20's, slt, 2wd. Got worse mileage than the average hemi and was a complete dog. I told him to get the hemi because in the real world it would get better mileage when I was ten fucking years old.
hmm. my upcoming graduation is starting to get more and more realistic - i applied for an internship at Gateway International Raceway, started hunting for a second job, was told to start considering where im going to live in five months and im doing homework, still. hmmm. growing up, oh boy.
I usually just say "Welcome to the Real World". But yeah, best of luck TEP.
IROC is
-drunk
-full of pizza
-and now surfing /b/
They're both dogs that get horrendous mileage. we've had a 318 and 360 Durango, it would be even worse in a fullsize.
