I would think if the clutch is that bad it just simply wouldn't hold at all when in high gear. Wear issues and slippage would only occur if you have a marginal clutch in the first place.
In all honesty though, regardless of what people think,,, it seems we have all forgotten that GM designed the skip shift into these cars,,,to go from 1st gear at a very slow 15-20 mph all the way up to 4th gear.
I believe if GM thought this would be an issue on the trans or clutch, they simply wouldn't have designed it this way,,,,,,could you imagine all the warranty claims????? I've never heard of any for this reason.
