To clear the larger rotor and calipers you may need a bigger wheel - the manufacturer of the kit should have experience with wheel clearance issues. I'd love to have a big brake kit but for three grand, I can't help but think about how much other stuff I could get with that, brand new rear end, lowering springs, boxed subframe connectors, etc..etc..

I seen a corvette brake setup on some website, I think it was like a grand, which is far more reasonable to me, but again...is it worth it? I have no clue how much better the brake calipers on a vette are, I know vettes have some serious braggin rights when it comes to short ass braking distances, but then the car is a hell of a light lighter than mine.

Anyone know how I would order slotted and drilled if I wanted oversized?
I don't see on any website anything like click here for oversized rotors for your car. Should I just call 'em?
I figure what the hell, I really like the way they look, and if they crack then I know better. I just hope you don't "feel" the holes and slots as they are passing through your pads...you don't right? Right now...anything will be better than what I have. Gonna try ceramic pads, never had those on a car.

The two piece slotted and drilled...what's that about? Is that for saving weight? Dissipating heat? Is it weaker? Stronger? Haven't seen an explanation anywhere for why a two piece exists.

I have the R1 concept rotors drilled and sloted.. with semi-metallic pads.. From my personal expericence they work better than stock..!! period.... i stop faster and i don't have to apply much brake pedel to stop..!! The holes in the rotors disapate heat and gases.. The holes are manley their to take out the heat in the rotors.. As you all know, if you keep braking on the same stock rotors heat will play a factor.. which means your rotor will wrap.. I think that slotted and drilled just give the same stop distance each time.. They don't heat up as much therefore allow you to stop easier..!! Pads that are made out of cermaic have different charcterastics than metallic.. The ceramic are made to be less noisey and less brake dust.. And tend to run out faster the metallic.. You can pick up a set of R1 concepts on EBay.. I got a complete set for 250 that's with shipping>>!!!.. it came with Front and Rear rotors and pads..!! for that deal its better than going with stock..!! I had this setup since mid june or july.. and put about 15k on my maro with them.. I havent had a problem since.. i drive em hard too.. I do a some drag racing and like to take the coners..!! Just remeber to do the brake in with the new setup.. That the most important thing when install a new brake setup.. By doing that you are setting the grooves in the rotors which will allow your brakes to grab to their maxium potentiall..!!

i just got a set from the ws6 store......i'll keep posting on how they work but they were only 169.00 for all 4

yeah people need to check the r1 concept rotors, they are the cheapest ive seen and after 10k miles they look great.

Predator was right on the money. The extra caliper is increasing braking force because the force applied increased, there was no change to the coeffecient of friction. Simple hydraulics being used to mutliply force. You should check out the brakes on large aircraft. They use a multiple disc system similar to a clutch with hydraulic pistons around the entire circumference.

Physics doesn't always follow common sense. If it did, a 5lb weight would fall faster than a 1lb weight, but guess what that's just not how it works in the world of physics.

well i installed the drilled/slotted rotors with ceramic pads all round and all i can say is WOW i can not belive how much better my car stops.....for the money they are hard to beat

Check out Thunder Racing, they have a compelte Brake kit with Baer rotors, Hawk pads, Earls SS lines, and fluid for 759.99! Cheaper than if you order just the rotors...

Black Magic, I just put a set from summit racing on last week. for a set of SUMMIT slotted cross drilled rotors I think it was only $150. Not a bad price I figure. I bought ceramic pads from AutoZone for $40-50. They look great, and with chrome wheels I LOVE the ceramic pads. I used to wipe my wheels off no shit twice a day. Now Ive driven my car 4 times this week and they are still clean! (hope this helps)

Ok... surface area has nothing to do with friction (braking)... the formula for friction is ... thats the coeffecent of friction times the force applied... as you can see NO SURFACE AREA!!!!

NOW!!!... ways to improve braking...

1. Improve force... this can be done by pressing harder on the pedal... Braided brake lines are a good way to do this too...

2. Buy better pads...

3. Move your pads further away from the axis of rotations... such as in a Big Brake Kit... this will allow the friction to apply a greater moment (which is force time distance) to the wheel allowing it to stop faster...

now as for drilled and slotted... im prolly just gonna go with slotted since drilled do have a rep for cracking... (truthfully i havent decided)... but i am definately going to go with a disk that will allow gasses and heat to esacpe from under my pad... Im really not into floating rotors...
