Yeah, that's a common misconception... but in reality, the monsoon headunit simply has a different faceplate mounted to it... same crappy internals, and same standard wiring harness interface on the back.

I want to put my alpine head unit in my car. Would I be able to wire it straight to the stock harness or would it not be compatiable with the amp? I also have alpine speakers, would they go with the system. (4ohm 50 Rms 250 Peak).
If you had the stock monsoon system in there, and ONLY changed the headunit, then you'd have no problem. If you are changing out all the speakers, you will have to pull the monsoon amp, most likely...
So I was trying to wire my sub off the monsoon amp and funny story. The BROWN, YELLOW , LT BLUE, DR BLUE wires seem to be the line level in for the amp. They also can power my Kick L5... I even unplugged the harness from the amp and the Kicker stayed on and with out the wires above connected the amp doesn't play any sound. So in a 2001 SS what wire colors go from what source to what speaker!!! This is crazy! :cuss: If the HU can power the sub that nice then I would like to wire it to the amp sub out...
how many RMS watts does this incredible monsoon amp put out?
I think its 500w max. With the right speaker it can sound real nice.
yeah but what about RMS for each channel...it can't be much more than 50W.
If I had to guess, the amp puts out about 50 watts RMS to each front channel, and maybe as much as 75 to the subs, with either 50 or less to the hatch components...
it's hard to say, since we don't know the RMS ratings of the stock speakers...
keep in mind the amp only powers the low end speakers in the doors and sails. all the tweeters and the hatch gets power from the Head Unit
My problem is no sound. The radio checks out good in another car. All fuses are good and I bought a replacement Amp off of Ebay. What I have is a pretty light show. (The CD player seems to work, the radio changes channels, clock keeps time, BUT NO MUSIC OR SOUND!!!!) I found power on the two orange wires to the Amp. I'm at a loss right now???????

The two orange wire going to the AMP are hot. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! I'm about to pull all the crap out an put in a cheap CD Player. Larry mooonshadow@hotmail.com
Larry, make a post in the "stereo" section and you'll be more likely to get an answer.
I cant get the zip file to work for me...?
Thanks for answering back. My problem happened 5 months ago. I finally bit the bullet and traced the wires back and found a bad power wire to the Amp.The radio is working great right now.
