Been testing Oil

The effort is minimal. I have a stabil bottle that meters in ounces. I filled it with 2 stroke oil. My fuel gauge is fairly accurate for a GM. I have about a 16 gallon tank so if my gauge reads half when I fill I give it two ounces, 1/4 full - 3 ounces. I have been running a 1 ounce of oil to 4 gallons mixture.

The cost is about 2 cents per gallon plus about a minute of time to add it to the tank. So the cost is relatively low.

I gained about 1 mpg during all types of driving. Also have had some reduction of WOT spark knock. If the oil extends the life of my fuel pump then it's worth it right there.

Barring any catastrophic failure I will keep using the oil and keeping track of my results.

Hello Sarge. I have a question for you. What are your thoughts regarding the continous use of the tc-w3 application in a Harley Davidson aircooled engine. These newer 07s and up have been designed to run extremely lean, resulting in pre detonation and operate at very high temps.I presently do a semi annual clean-out (1 tankfull) with MMO, but do nothing other than that. Can you see any issues arising (positive/negative) by using the 2 stroke oil due to the fact that engine is operating at a much higher temp than a liquid cooled. Thanking you in advance

Hey man...welcome to the forum.....funny you ask about the 2stroke in VTwins...we have a bunch of Harley boys doing this....they all report smoother running and less "knock"....let me find the Harley forum as there is a thread over there on this specific subject....I may have to call my buddy Larry as he is the biker and I really do not know which forum it is...so bear with me....

Howdy folks, have just spent the past few hours reading the thread cover to cover....wow, and I have only been using the wallyworld TC-3w oil in my gas blower and outboard, but no more.... I did not see any specific mention of anyone using this in a liquid cooled MC, I will start immediately using the 1oz to 5 gals. in my 84 Gold wing. This is a 4 cyl 1200cc Touring MC. I will also begin to use it in my work truck a 96 Ranger, and my S/O's 93 Lexus ES-300 and will let you know the results. Sarge great thread, I have tried the acetone, and top oil, but did not see any significant results. Sooooooooo I am very interested in seeing what happens with my rides, especially the GW.

So do I sarge, have never ridden anything quite like it... (40 yrs or so in the saddle). Put 1 oz in the tank yesterday before my ride, I don't know if its my imagination or what, but the idle speed appears to be up, will let you know regarding smoothness, power, fuel consumption as time goes on....great talking with you..

Has anyone did before and after compression testing with the tcw-3? I have some fresh 15w-40 rotella w/wix filter, 8oz mmo, and 1oz/5 gal of tcw-3 in my truck now. Still haven't run it with these things. It's the original (may be rebuilt) '72 350 with 140,000 miles or more because the odo rolls over at 100k. I'm trying to see some results on oil burning/plug fouling before I order auto-rx though, just to see which makes the difference.

Yes we have. Long term (one year or more) on a few engines running the TCW3. All do show an increase in cylinder pressure. It does clean the ring pack at proper dosage. Just not near as fast as AutoRX. I do run the 4 oz maintenance dose of AUTORX myself and the TCW3 both. TCW3 keeps my fuel system/injectors/valves etc. clean and the ring pack cleaning is just an added bonus.

I would guess that my motor is worn out of course but if if these things improve the ring seal and by plugs start to look better it would sway me away from replacing the valve seals too. They actually might both be shit, but it doesn't smoke at all on start up like you think a seal leaking down would cause. Just a small amount of oil being burnt as i drive from the rings is what I suspect. I need to buy a compression and order some auto rx now.

As far as cleaning out the ring packs goes, would running the piss out of the truck help. Along with all of the above things, I also ran around at 3.5K + the other day, floorig it at any open oppurtunity. This was to see if it would help clear the plugs up a little (the lower rpm miss) but would it help out the ring pack too?

Ok I definatly have to try this out, filling up tomorrow. I will let you guys know what it does for an 89 cherokee on its way to the big offroad trail in the sky. If it kills it GOOD 1 step closer to the blazer I want.

Yes. I've read ratio of 1 oz/gallon. I've also read 2% biodiesel performs better than 200:1 2-stroke oil. Also read used filtered motor oil and automatic transmission oil, but not sure on the performance.

Put some Lucas Oil Treatment in it and go start your new car shopping expedition.

I'd just wait till your next oil change, and drain the oil and run some water through it and flush it out real good for a bit, and you'll have that new one in no time

Hey Sarge, do you think that high mileage oil would do anything from me, if not just for my external engine leaks? I just got some 3 quarts 10-40 Pennzoil high mileage and 2 castrol hd 30 for some thickness when cold. Wix filter too Still need engine rx. The bobistheoilguy.com search sucks

yea love this tread read to page 10 and was sold bought the cheap pensoill and did my first tank. i used to work at sears before i got laid off. i got a lot of stuff i have four cases of 2 cycle oil from them its craftmans. was wondering if u could find out if its the TC-W3 it dont say on the bottle
