Oops...40 series, my Tacoma is 285/70/17!
WEIGHT-SAVING for more speed? Most of you guys/gals have heard that Penske used to acid-dip the steel body panels on his racers to reduce weight before he got caught. And lots of folks drill holes in the steel parts all over.
Has anybody found a super lightweight spare tire & alloy rim for 4th Gen F-bodies?
For just driving around I keep the spare, however on track nights it's taken out.
Mine is out too...along with everything else that doesn't need to be there for track day's.....on the street could care less how much it weighs. 3,560 last time out
I have light weight wheels only 15# each should reduce weight a lot lol.

My Hoosier front runners (skinnies) on Bogarts are super light weight. One of those would make a decent spare tire replacement and shave some poundage.

One more step closer to running slicks :firedevil::drivin:
Yesterday actually. Was waiting for the left-turn signal and started fixing my hair in the mirror. Rushing from home to an early-morning medical appointment. Someone behind honked at me, I looked up, and gunned it. When I looked back, that vehicle was a half-block behind me :) It's nice to have an old, high-mileage car that can do things many newer cars can't and still looks good.
Replaced headlight motor gears with new brass ones, also replaced my drl lenses as my wife has been on my butt to replace them to the point she said " order them I will pay " so I did...had some pictures to show the difference but my photo bucket is acting up like normal so none today. They look great.....started going over things for trip to the track coming this weekend track tires will need installed later this week
Nothing much to report but...
I passed our yearly MOT test and always wonder whether the cut out
will make them twitch but all ok!!
Only did 400 miles in her this past year but 400 miles with a grin! :yay::burnout:
On test drive after installing new driveshaft & axle bearings. Finally without worry of blowing out my oem driveshaft I unleased it at a 3500 rpm clutch dump and Good God she can move out!!! My nose came up the highest I've ever felt.
Need to "borrow " a set of slicks or DR's to play with to see just how much a difference.
Sprayed some water on the car, wiped it down, then Quickwaxed it.
Noticed there was water in on of the headlamps, so bought a new one, and a new wiper blade. Thats what I call Pontiac Excitement! ;p
on street tires I was fine with the oem. At the track I got zero traction if I launched over 2500ish rpm. But once you swap over to slicks/DR's that's a hole different matter. I've seen guys be ok with it under 430 but I've also seen guys on stock hp run slicks and break them too. Most times the 10 bolt is the weak link. Next is the driveshaft.
I need to get motivated to work on the car again. I have not had a passenger seat since June in it.
Well, thats one way to keep people riding with you.^
