Mids only get that close at peak HP across the board LTs have more torque and power. Mids relocate the cats just as LTs do so they will fail any visual inspection in CA. If you are going to spend the $$$ and relocate your cats why get mids? Makes no sense to me whether peak HP is close or not. People get all wrapped up in peak numbers which don't mean squat unless you have a race car. It's HP/TQ across the entire power band that counts most and for that LTs are your best bet.
This is all true but Macs are within a few hp across the board. I didn't really notice any difference swithing from Macs to longtubes as far as power. I'm all for long tubes, they sound better, perform better also but mids have a few advantages like no k member clearance issues and better ground clearance.Quote:

well as long as the peak power is close that is good enough for me my car has plenty of power for daily driving and it's not like my torque curve is like some vtec civic so if they make close to the same power from 4k upwards that is good enough. and i do not autocross or roadrace my car.
I love the sounds of longtubes though, How do MAC mids sound?
i would assume pretty similar to longtubes i cant see too much of a difference. i think the main differences in sounds depends on what is done after the headers like crossover pipe, cats or not, mufflers, resonators ,y pipe or whatever. I do know that aftermarket headers are louder because the metal is thinner.Quote:

I did a little modification to my macs, ported the primaries because the welds are the worst i've ever seen and then cut off the ball flange. With just bolt ons and a tune no cam or heads I made 358rwhp and 369ft-lbs.
Im not saying im a MAC hater I just perfer longtubes, and my numbers when i had my orginal LS1 were just high dyno numbers with the LT'S personally if I am going to spend the money, I am going to go with the long tubes everytime...:snowboard:

I got them from fred beans like 3 years ago not sure if they still sell them or not. Ebay is a good options as well. Yes I used the 3m double sided tape. Be sure you get the outdoor stuff, when I got my car back from the accident the body shop used some crappy stuff(not sure if it was 3m or not) but I lost one of my emblems on the way home, was kinda pissed. The 3m outdoor holds very stong had the emblems on for over 2 years with no problem.Quote:
