Is this a serious topic. Stock Civic is 16 second car? What am I missing?
You could take off in 2nd gear and still whoop his butt.

You're right if you have bolt ons stock cobras are not out of our league or if they have a bad driver. I just think heads up stock for stock and the drivers being equal the race is pretty lopsided. .5 in the 1/4 is a lot.
Why does it seem like so many cobras can't get out of the 13s? I don't get it. I'm quite sure I'd have no problems running 12s in one. So many bad drivers out there.
What exactly have you done to your car? Just bolt ons or gears too?
Oh and the power to weight ratios are really still in the favor of the cobra. They are under rated at the factory and put down 50rwhp more then most ls1s. I'm not sure how much more they weigh but it's not making up that kind of hp difference. Termis are fast no doubt about it but they are still f'n fords!
My stock TA beat an Integra on 16 LBS of Boost... so anythin can happen and if he is "stock" Give him the ass whooping he deserves because he bought a honda
tell him double or nothing and send me my 100 after u win:news:
up where i go to college theres this group of civics i always mess with. The fastest one has a built engine and a turbo lightweight wheels racing tires and full show shit. i raced him from a 20 roll and from a dig and destroyed him both times it was awesome definitely double it
well my 2 cents is... if it was an older hatch or something then id start questioning new civics are to heavy.... HOWEVER! a newer civic with a k20 (rsx motor)swap and bolt ons might just scare the hell outta ya! swapped civics aint no joke dude i kid you not.. an eg hatch(92-95) civic with a bolt on gsr motor is capable of mid to low 13's with a decent driver.... but i have confidence in you
soooo any race yet? or are you talking this up comming thursday?
btw i work at Honda dealer (#1 in the US).... ive yet to see a fast civic... v6 accord is a different story.., i did however see a 2003 3.0l v6 turbo in a 89 civic 5speed... i think he said it ran a 9.008 @ 129mph, i respect that man... so anyway is this a Civic SI??? if it is an SI then your in trouble, thoes engines are eisly modded to around 300 fwhp with no visable mods/ and low spendatures, BUT headers and a cold air intake are easy to spot!
Tell me you are joking?
I'm not a 4 banger hater, I agree anything can be made fast. But in all seriousness are we seriously even having this conversation.
I think I liked it better when everyone was on the jock strap of Cobras on this site, at least that car puts down respectable 1/4 mile times.
2007 SI coupe =197HP fwhp. 197 to 300 hp = 50+% HP increase. (LOL)
So you are telling me you can get the a 50+% HP increase cheaply with "No visible mods"?
I highly doubt that. I don't know of any modifications (NA) that is going to give a 2.0 liter an extra hundred HP.
If that was the case the easy to gain (50% more HP nonsense) - we should be able to "easily" get our cars to from 350HP - actual not the underestimated numbers of 325 hp they rate my car at....
anyways we should be able to gain an extra 175 hp easily too (NA that is) I mean the LS1 is very mod friendly-- But its not going to happen. (that would bump us to 525 Hp if that were true)
I don't know of anyone cheaply getting a civic SI to 300 HP, nor, do I know of anyone getting an LS1 to 525hp cheaply and easily (NA).
PS I assume you mean FWHP = Flywheel HP, and not Front Wheel HP.
Because that argument would be even more ridiculous.
I'm not trying to be an A-hole, but that comment can't go unchallenged. It is absolutely ludicrous.
i think his question has now turned into a full blown debate:Popcorn:after 30 post you better let us know what happens.:toetap:
Have we forgotten why you bought a TRANS AM? Did you forget u have a MONSTER under your hood? Not to mention its not even another V8 car, whats to worry about, tuners are always ALL talk. Sorry but this is ridiculous since this thread has been on top for the last couple times i logged in today lol. Comon now unless something catastrophic happens or you cant drive your own car its a no brainier. :ughlaugh:
No-one has even said it yet, an F-body lays more torque down than a civic would produce if it had 800HP.
There's a guy near me with a boosted prelude, running 12PSI or something with a fully built motor, rumored to be about 400+ hp... with about 250trq I bet. I give him a month or 2 before he blows it up.
just race him you won't have any problems. I did lose to a civic that was completely gutted with a turbo 15psi and drag radials. but I was driving my 97 LT1 with 3 other people in the car and he was alone. then he only beat me by one car length. I like to think I won that race because he did blow a rod through the block when we hit triple digits lol.
he will beat you....if he has an LS1 under the hood:ughlaugh:
Just race him and when you get to the finish line, get out of the car with a hamburger in your hand and tell him you were having a snack during the "race" and that you keep forgetting need to take your heavy toolbox out of the car.:jerkit:
Are u joking?? Dude u have an LS1, one of the fastest, powerfull and best engines produced by GM. Im not being cocky or a dick, but u do the math. 5.7l vs a 1.8?? Enjoy the $100 and put it into a new SLP lid
just to give you a heads up. a friend of mine at school had a civic hatchback, i don't remember what year but it was older, but when my car was stock we went almost dead even. I honestly don't remember what mods he had but I do remember the engine was a B16. I was surprised as hell.
I too, have a race with a honda coming up this wednesday, im not sure if i'll win, he has a 88 turbo civic hatch, Ill be racing him in my 00 auto trans am, with just a slp air lid, and k&n filter
hopefully your right. I wonder if I should pay him if for some reason he beats me with the "stock" civic
