it works
hope this helps.
I had the same problem when I first installed mine. For me, what it was is the lid wasn't sitting properly near the back of the lid on the passenger side. Once I was able to push it back far enough I felt the back end of the lid slip over an edge and the front sat flush and the clamp came down perfectly like the driver side.
I have been having the same issue with my SLP lid until I read this, my left clamp popping loose driving me crazy...
I just now pushed it back bar enough, front edge pops into the groove on the front of the lower section and it locks nice and tight.
I had to cut my bellow because it wouldnt slide back enough on the throttle body! took about 1/4 inch off and it closed nice and tight!
My dad had the same problem with his lid, sold it and bought another lid from MTI and it fit great.
When I took my k&n filter out, I had trouble getting the SLP lid to close with the new paper element filter inside.(stock replacement) The filter was a little taller than the k&n filter and it caused the lid to not shut properly. I just had to move the air filter around a little to get the support on the bottom of the air box to fit in one of the grooves in the new paper element air filter. After that, it shuts and says shut like a charm.
You should have the foam seal for the K&N around the perimeter of the lid, the front lip of the upper cover goes behind the lip of the lower cover and the clips should have some resistance when you snap them over. If all that is there it should be fine. If you don't have enough resistance on the clips, bend the clips a little more.
has anybody put the kn fitler tape on the lwr box assem. instead of the lid???
Same thing happened to me, but I messed around with it so much my passanger side clip broke clean-the-fuck-off. Anyone got any clever suggestions on how to fix that?
I had the same problem with the slp lid and i bought the slp smooth bellows + a k&n filter so the back of the lid didnt give much and the damn left clam kept poping open... So what i did was i took some vice grips and pliers and bent the tip of the clip straight then heated it and rebent it further up to make it just a cunt hair longer and till this day after driving and i come home and open the hood it's still latched on there!!!
Thanks for all the info, Mine is driving me NUCKING FUTS :brick: hopefully I can get that stupid left latch to close
