What do you use to get ride of squeaks due to age/friction?

I just sprayed the weather stripping on my driver's door to get it to puff up. After about an hour, the gap is still there. How much spray do I need to use and how should I apply it (I tried spraying a micro fiber and rubbing it on, and then I just sprayed it directly onto the strip). I'm assuming that the rubber absorbs the sillicone and is "nourished" by it, restoring it to it's original puffiness (?)

I, too, like the caliper grease for supsension squeaks. Gonna have to try that graphite grease that FBJ was talking about, too.

I have never noticed it "puffing" a seal - I apply it to keep them supple and on our DD's to avoid frozen doors in the winter. You may be able to fix it with some strategically placed 3M weatherstrip.

Ah, okay. I figure it's 16 years old now, so it's dried up and "shriveled" I guess. Maybe time to get some new weather strip. I'll look into the 3M to see if it will solve my problem.

It seems like the weatherstrip from 3M is for stationary leaks? This leak is between the weather strip and the window, so I wouldn't be able to just "tape" it shut.

Looks like I can order the set of weather strip that goes around both dirver's a passenger's side windows for about $35.00. Might just do that.

I've used WD40 on my door hinges to stop the dreaded squeak there. On my poly components I am using a marine based grease pumped in once per oil change

How about adjusting your window glass?

Sounds interesting. Please explain! I was listening to my windows rattling around today (completely rolled up).

I haven't had my T/A door apart, but every other car I have worked on that does not have a full window frame has had some way of adjusting the door glass. I'll have to take a look in the service manual to see what the deal is with our cars.

That's interesting. I was wondering if things were just "coming loose" in the door.
