I cut after just on the O2 plug side so i can get new ones. Mr. Lous thanks for the input that explains my problem, i think im just going to go ahead and get a frost tune and get them tuned out instead of buying extensions.

Frost will tell you this too.
Your best bet is to get Bosch 13111 O2s. They are longer and will give you plenty of length to reach the new locations.
They go for about $75-$85. The wire extensions go for about $30-$40.
Could be. I have seen it happen with a 2002 Z28. Heard about it with other years, but never seen it personally.
seems like ive heard you can get corvette O2's that are long enough and work is this true?
The 13111's are a Corvette sensor. My question is, they're listed as a REAR O2 sensor for the Corvette, ya'll are saying they'll work fine as a replacement for the front O2's on our cars? Doing the header install in the near future and definitely want to just swap the sensors out and avoid any problems I may have.

Knight is correct. O2 sensors report the same information to the PCM. The PCM interpets the data differently based on its position (front or rear) and then the PCM makes adjustments accordingly. The only two important O2 sensors are the front. When you get LT's and a tune you end up tuning the rear ones out.
Awesome info guys I appreciate it. Always like to find these things out BEFORE undertaking a project so as to avoid any problems as I am an old wrench turner but a complete newb when it comes to messing with the LS1.
