My friend was pretty into them, he opened an rc shop and we built an indoor track... theres a few out my way, but usually just road courses. Now and then they will do dirt, but thats usually summer time when it's nice out.

As I posted before...BIG buggy.
Yeah I was reading on the blitz forum and someone mentioned an RC track which got me thinking. If r/cs were bigger in SE KS, there is a Wal-Mart building that is now sitting empty 20 miles from me that would make for an AWESOME indoor arena. Sadly, it probably wouldn't go over well enough around here to make any money but I'd love to go run the Baja in there. lol

(sorry, not sure how to embed, and it's not the greatest because it was taken with my iPhone 3g)
im so jealous man..id love to have the 5b or 5t. cant decide between the 2. but then again i dont need to worry about it, cuz i cant swing the cost to buy one, new or used....but they look like a blast. maybe someday ill afford to get one
I know what you mean. But seriously, if it wasn't for the 5B SS kit, I probably wouldn't have one right now myself. I just loved the fact that I got to put it all together. I had been looking at them since June/July last year and finally convinced myself that I could afford it even though I quit working to go back and finish my last year of college. I do not regret it at all. Granted, I could have got some nice new rims and tires for the Trans Am, but I am pretty happy with my decision. It'll provide hours and hours of entertainment this spring/summer.
So if HPI were to come out with a 5T SS kit....it would take all I have to convince myself that I don't need two right now. :)
I prefer the Baja 5T myself, I love baja trucks first, buggys second.
Here's my christmas present to myself. Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho scale trail truck/crawler. I put the Axial NVS (night vision system) on it, giving me a total of 13 lights (12 used right now). Go forward, highbeams kick on. Turn left/right, you get the corresponding turn signal. Slow down/brake, the brake lights come on. I dont run the turns or highs though, its annoying. However, I could essentially run up to 42 or so LED's at any one time :D.
Some of the pics are fuzzy, but you get the idea.

I'm also gonna go out on a limb and say you probably already know about most of the aftermarket support for the 5B/T, but here's a link to some pretty sweet stuff IMO.

Nope. The 5t is only RTR but supposedly they have something new for the 1/5 scale coming up at some R/C show in Germany if I've heard correctly. There's speculation that it will be a 5T kit with a 29CC engine, could be a 4x4 5B or 5T and I've heard someone try to say that they made a 2 speed for it. Just have to wait and see what it is.
Yeah I've got quite a bit of aftermarket parts on mine. Most of which come from davesmotors.com. Great site, customer service, 5% off if you use the hbf code and really fast shipping. Plus his deal of the day has got me buying stuff I didn't really need, but wanted, a couple times. lol
Oh and one of the latest upgrades for these is a 62CC Skopod engine. It produces massive torque but is not as fast some of the 27.2cc racing engines out there. Sadly, it's a $1000 for the motor and another $300 for the mounting hardware. Once they get some time to really get these motors ported/tuned or whatever it will take to get them faster, with the proper gearing, I think they should really be able to haul @$$. :)
Nice baja man ! ... I race rc and worked at a hobby shop so i know how addicting this shit is ! I currently have 7 cars so i feel your pain with the $ spent on this stuff... just wait till you get hooked on brushless/ lipo.. you will spend around a grand on batteries and a motor/esc combo
As much as I dont like buying knock off shit, especially chinese knock off shit... The king motor baja buggies are pretty much identical to HPI's 5B and 5T, both for alot less money. You can see them on ebay. They are blatant knock offs, and have complete parts interchangability with the HPIs. I think the KM truck has a 29cc motor as well.
I think a HPI 4wd 5T with a 29cc motor would be fucking awesome :cool2:
http://cgi.ebay.com/King-Motor-Buggy...item3efbdd8cf1 if the parts aren't pot metal it looks like a deal
Wow, buy it now for $500 http://cgi.ebay.com/1-5-RC-X-ROVER-B...item3ca939bb17

(except for the lack of HPI 5b logo stickers)"
I have a FG Stadium 1/5 that I changed to a monster truck. It has a stroked out 26 and it's fast.

I actually had done a bit of tuning before that video and the plug was always coming out a darker paperbag brown, no where near as light as what everyone else was saying to run it, but I felt I was better off running it a bit rich as that was only the 3rd or 4th tank. I do plan on retuning it this spring because I will be installing my CPI pipe in the coming week or two. Plus I learned a bit better way to tune it from a forum member, it'll take a bit more time than how I did it last time, but I've heard it is very worth it in the end.
And I had checked into the KM Baja's but I had read posts where some people had nothing but complaints, while others had nothing but good things to say. When I was looking they were all around the $550 plus shipping range, so I figured if I was going to spend that much money, I'd rather not take a chance on getting a dud. Plus as I said, if it wasn't for the kit, I wouldn't have one yet. So HPI was the only way to go for me.
Thats a pretty sweet FG you have there Chicken. I've never seen one of those in person either. Like I said, I don't know anyone into R/C around here, and NEVER even seen 1/5 scale until I got the Baja.
Yeah, I'm used to tuning baby nitro motors, so I guess it's different
Well, I will agree that it does sound kind of different than I remember but I'm not sure if that is exactly how it sounded or if that fluctuation is introduced by the iPhone 3g since it's not meant to take videos. lol I'm not worried because like I said, it will be getting a very thorough tuning when I get the new pipe installed. The CPI pipe actually sits lower in the rear so the big open area in the rear bumper will actually have a use. I will post pictures when I get it installed, dang holidays always seem to be when you have a package waiting to be delivered by the mailman.
