LM1. I love when I let off on a cloudy day while I drive by folks waiting for the bus and folks look to the sky to see if there is a storm coming...and I'm the one making the "thunder clap". Too funny.

I love my exhaust on my 02 ss, i def. have to watch out for cops, dynomax bullitt kit, part numbers, 19418, and 88018, not cats, check them out, not bad on the highway, when you get on it thru the gears its insane loud!!
even my magnaflow does it when cold, not loud, but it will do it every now and then.
+1... i believe this is correct. When you're driving you're injecting fuel into the engine and burning it....and when you pull your foot off the throttle, that last bit of fuel left in the combustion chamber is what is popping in the cats or hot tubes. :yup:
I love the sound of lean popping on anything. Im working on getting a full exhaust for my car now and i miss the sound on my truck. If youve ever heard it on a big four stroke dirtbike it sounds awesome
can someone explain to me the main differences between the LM 1 and LM 2 cat back exhaust systems because i'm really interested in getting one for my 00 z28....
i tried A/B videos on youtube but i cant point out major differences...
thanks
The LM1 is alot louder than LM2. If you just have a stock car and are not going to put headers on I would get the LM1. I had LM2 on my car when it was totally stock and it was way to quiet for me, so then I switched to LM1 I think it sounds sweet on a stock car some people dont.
ok cool. thanks for the quick reply
i'll prolly get the LM1 then cuz i want to wake old ladies from their graves.
Like MNZ28 said....if you are leaving it stock, go with LM1.
However, you should consider your long-term goals. If you plan on getting LT Headers eventually down the road, you should probably not get a LM1 IMO. It will be insanely loud, yes, but it will also sound really raspy. At least on the cars that I have heard they did. Some people like that sound, but most people want a deeper tone, more throaty sounding exhaust.
The LM2 will sound better with headers if you are insistant on going with a SLP exhaust. I have a LM2 with Kooks LTs and no cats and it sounds ridiculously loud, but not raspy.
On an ending note, I don't recommend any other products of theirs besides the lid and line lock. When I purchased my LM2, the flanges did not line up and I had to "oval" them out due to interference.
Do you plan on keeping your stock Y-pipe? It is very flat and restrictive. You should consider a Y-pipe also.
Good luck with whatever decision you make!
i dont plan on getting headers because i will most likely sell this car in 4 years when i'm done with college and get a corvette or something.. but anyway the LM1 seems to be what i want then... but it doesnt come with a Y pipe? i thought the kit comes with one?
You are correct if you buy the complete kit.
I mean, COME ON. I went out to that maro and thought it was stock. I STILL drooled over the fact it was an LSx and a 35th, but when I saw the CME I thought to myself "this should sound nice." When I started it, it was TOO quiet. When I lifted the car and looked at the catback, it was shiny and there was no muffler where it should have been. That crossover killed the sound TOO much IMO.
just to clarify... is this the complete kit....

thanks
If you wanna get rid of the pancake crossover then yes. Get both the catback and the Y-pipe.
I have a SLP 2-1/2" Y Pipe...Send me a PM
well i was thinking of buying the stuff in fall or next summer... i'm just doing my research for now.. thanks for the help guys.. so that Y pipe SLP coupled with the loudmouth would be a good setup then becuase i dont want to get into installing headers...
Its pointless to even get the ypipe with factory manifolds. You will have a better ypipe but still the same restriction before it in the exhaust system. Basically the ypipe could flow more but the maniflolds can only do so much. Where im comin from your not gonna feel much if any in the seat of the pants feel but do whatever you want. And also why get a vette when you could put several grand into your car and then in turn smoke a vette?
