Incredibly... I've only had one speeding ticket and got that in my Alfa. In the 14 years I raced around in my Chevelle, I've gotten pulled over numerous times, but... never a citation. However, did go to jail for being clocked at over 120 once. Still no actual ticket though :lol: Being a girl has it's perks it would seem :blush:Quote:

Ok I understand most of what you just said. And I appreciate your input, the statue and the ticket match. here is what the "Speed Contest" says: 23109. (a) A person shall not engage in a motor vehicle speed contest on a highway. As used in this section, a motor vehicle speed contest includes a motor vehicle race against another vehicle, a clock, or other timing device. For purposes of this section, an event in which the time to cover a prescribed route of more than 20 miles is measured, but where the vehicle does not exceed the speed limits, is not a speed contest. ....The bold part is what confuses me the most, it says on the ticket i was going 35 (the speed limit) and also I don't believe he used a radar gun, he was just behind me a couple cars back.........any other input would be great RetiredCopQuote:

if he didnt arrest you and its all just traffic then the day that you go to court there will be an attorney there that will be able to see you before the trial. you plead your case to that attorney and traffic tickets arent worth there time, they will work with you and you settle it before standing in front of the judge and fighting the cop. Yes you will be haggling and you will pay something but it will be greatly reduced for not wasting anyones time.
yes i know I said trial n made it seem like some big deal but I couldnt think of a more appropriate word for it so please dont crucify me for it anyone :lol: I have been through this many times and have a clean driving record so it can be fixed, just takes more time out of your day than if you jut paid the ticket.

so let's say you're having a really "unlucky" month and you get a judge having a bad day. You could be looking at 90 days and $1000 where as a lawyer will probably get that thrown out altogether and you'll pay him and a fine for the other stuff. Probably would never get the max but that's not something I would gamble on.
umm if you get a street contest ticket( i take it its basically a street racing ticket) it will eat you in insurance for the next 3-5 years.
I got a wreckless driving awhile back and it made my insurance bump up 92 bucks a month.
if a lawyer costs say 2k without the ticket your gonna pay that back in 2 years. counting the ticket. Mine was like 900+ so yea im out like 4k right now and mine counts against me for 5 years.
so a lawyer def helps bud. its free to talk and get advice see what he/she thinks on it and go from there.
just call them up they usually will talk for a few minutes over the phone.
But with personal experience if you are 100% sure you can win on your own get some help.
and I did that trial by mail bs and the cop who pulled me over never wrote a response yet i still got a fat ass speeding ticket for it.
because his original write up will count as his statement. which is required to do after every stop that is usually why they take a minute to leave.
