Yeah black is a PITA but my car looks awsome for a good 5 minutes or so after I wash it. Seriously though- since I emptied the garage and my Z stays in there it's so much easier( Duhhh!!).
i have 2 wash pails at all times. One has the zip soap car wax in warm water with a microfibre wash mit use for the body panels, glass & any other painted areas.
The other pail ( #2) contains regular palmolive soft soap & warm water to use on the rims & tires only.
I use a super soft california squeegy to remove 90%of the water & my air compressor with a small mozzle to blow ooff & out the left over water in all areas,
With my Black WS6--the less it is rubbed or touched--the less hairline scratches show up.
Then is use my Top shelf "Final Detail Spray Wax ' & a dry microfibre cloth to wipe in & another to wipe it dry!! Apply on e panel @ a time. I apply this product after every car wash as it only takes 20 minutes max!! Spray one pnale @ a time & wipe till dry with a microfibre cloth!! Amazing product & leaves no white residue!!
I forgot, I don't use a pail. I use the Mr. Dry Wash and Dry thing.
Streaked from what? I use Zaino Car Wash and didn't have any issues.
I like to use the "do-it-yourself" booths at the local car wash so I dont have to touch the car at all. Then my preferred method of drying involves the highway (on ramp is like 200 ft from the car wash) and ~120 mph. Does the trick every time. :zoom:
i've heard that high pressured water is not good for the paint and i'd say the soap they use at those isn't very high quality but that's just me
:iagree: my Trans am never saw the booths and never will the gto, i think the high pressure and super strong soap (prolly stronger then dish soap) would tear the $hit out of the paint
The high quality spray booth areas have a low pressure spot free rinse(lower than a water hose pressure). I usually grab my mit and some meguiars and a bucket and go there when the weather doesnt permit(IE, muddy at home..icey etc etc)
Dawn dish soap if your going to wax the car because it gets all the old stuff off. I use Meguiars Gold Class which works amazing and i used Zanios stuff and i think its just as good. To dry use Microfiber towels or i now use Shamwows :D and god do those things really work like they say in the commerical.
Dawn will never be used on any of my paint.
Take the proper steps, and you won't need it.
Plus, why strip protection??? You can layer wax.
A lot of the time I can't wash my car myself because of a dumb racing snowmobile accident at 122mph it doesn't feel good when you hit the hard pack snow beleive me but a car wash up the street charges 20 bucks cash and he washes with Auto Magic product with a chamois and it looks sweet then if I'm up for it Ice wax it's silicone wax and works really well in 20 minutes no rubbing at all wipes of and it looks like icy amazing compared to Mothers wax that I was using
