It prolly boils off somewhat but gets recharged so to speak when it's time for that set of valves to open and gets a fresh shot. If there is any heated fuel left, I would imagine that this would possibly make the "fresh" shot more explosive, and possible where some of the engines HO power came from. 200-210hp, for the Multi Porters, and only a small gain from the sequential injection to about 215hp, with slightly better flowing heads. Although when compairing the two different heads (older to newer) I could'nt really see a difference. Both sets have massive intake ports. But the newer LQ1's (TDC) had a better larger port primary (lower) intake. But the gasket area of these is a poor (thin walls) design, and notorious for leaking top and bottom. The older ones though they have smaller openings on top had more gasket area which made for a better seal IMHO.

I dunno maybe custom steel or aluminum intake. Still on the drawing board, as to flow and injector placement. I'd like to utillize the three shot for each open set of valves though rather than the pooling effect it had..

Me too but it has to be happening between gears rather then durring a pull and they were also limited to 110 top speed.. Been past 125 a handfull of times in the 92, bounced the needle off the bottom a few with the chip, comp, cai, and exhaust too.

An old buddy of mine had a 98 (ish) grand am gt tdc stupid thing was set to shift @ like 6200. Which comming out of first hitting second was far to early @ 4200 ish which is just a hair outside the sweet spot in the tdc, so it would lay down for a sec then come alive again.

Picked up a set of EFI and Tuning books last week -- one chapter talks about batch injection and gives a pretty good description of how the system works and what happens to the fuel between intake events. You get that thing done and I may have to take a ride south to check it out.

Update.. Well everything came to a ginding halt. I had an issue with a few of the head bolts. So I pulled them out to inspect what was the cause..:suicide: Found glass bead media in some of the head bolt holes from the bead blaster. Spooked, I pulled it all apart to inspect everything for more of the media I may have missed. I'm going to wash the block again and start over. Should only take a little time to get it back to the point I had it before this. I will keep yall posted.. Live and learn I guess..

Yup I like it too. The machines they use, one uses glass, and the other steel shot. I figured the steel shot would be too harsh on mating surfaces. Glass does a beutiful job on iron and is less harsh. But it definetly spooked me. Bolt holes 2,5,6 (right bank) had glass media in them. On my third pass something just felt funny. So just out of curiosity I made a 4th just to check if I was going nuts and those three turned again on the same torque setting then stopped. Sure enough pull the head and the gasket had begun to walk. So as soon as I get the heads back from being checked to make sure they're still true it's back to the drawing board. No harm no foul tho I can live with catching the mistake sooner than later. It would have been a mess that only would have been caught after a fire up and an initial run down the road. By then there would have been oil and coolant fixed everywhere. Since my turbines are oil cooled it would have possibly taken both of them too.. Can we say, phew!!

I've had her for about 5 years now. I grabbed her from a bunch of yoyo's whom did'nt know how to fix it. So when it quit running right over a simple EGR they just parked it. I went and bought and EGR valve before I even made an offer. I went back the next day told them I'd give them nomore than $1800 for a car that did'nt run. Of coures they jumped on that price (car was worth 2600 book in good condition) like vultures.. Pretty sure they thought I was an idiot.. They were'nt laughing much when I fixed it inside of 10 min. and fired it up in their driveway. :lol: It was garage kept till they could'nt figure out how to keep it running. So they pushed it outside and let it just sit there.. Car had less than 100k on it back then.. The TDC scares alot of folks I think because of its complexity and the fact that few mechanics will either touch it or know how to work on one around here anymore.. A few of the more modern motors such as the Caddy Northstar owe their existance to the Twin Dual Cam. (TDC):vodka:

Funniest part is when folks tell me it's too big to be fast.. BS, the car is only a grand total of 6 inches longer than my Camaro, and only has about 300 lbs over it as well.. It had no trouble keeping up and eventually passing my Camaro when the TDC was totally stock. After a full custom built exhaust, new ECM and stage 3 chip and some timing adjustments, custom built true CAI and a bunch of other goodies it ran rings around the Camaro. My wife was afraid of it cause it could break traction between 30-40 mph :lmao: As far as I can tell through a sh&t ton of research there is no one out there whom has done a TT TDC setup. A few have built single turbo TDC's but none have attempted to do what I'm doing to her.. There's nearly no after market for the engine so a whole sh&t ton of one offs has to be made for this project, I ran out of time before the winter and work has had me almost completely booked sold this winter. So I've had to stop for now, and only take on smaller projects that I can get done relatively quickly.. Rught now I've started a full top-end refreash on the Camaro. Later anfter the TDC is complete she will move into her old bay and get preped for a blower..

My "new" TB will now be configured in an inverted mounting position. This will allow the now abandon coolant passage to be used as a vacc block..:D And 2 TB studs will be set later on in the project..

Correct but incase you have'nt noticed this happens to be the v6 section.. Those turbos were inspected by a machine shop they are fine.

Those cheap turbos were baught for a reason. I'm not going to throw 15k+ in "name brand turbines" @ an engine with virtually no after market. This is also a project that has NEVER been done before. All new ground. There's no forum for this type of project. Noone has ever done this type of TDC build before. Some have done single turbo's with sucsess but none have done twins.. I researched this for 2-3 years... If someone has done it before they are'nt talking about it that I've seen. The primary problem with these turbos is usually installer related. Where over oiling becomes an issue, as well as over boosting. I have seen these same turbos used as replacements for stock units as well as performance. As I said earlier these turbos have been checked for spec quality. If they fail I can simply throw the fuckers away and buy new ones. If this motor scatters with high priced turbines on it I risk losing them too. As a business person that would be sheer loonicy. As I told you in another thread these will NEVER see high boost numbers. With 9:50 CR and valve clearance of .001 on pump gas. Higher boost would need far more work to get it down the road as a DD.. Frankly I have enough on my plate between work, and 2 car projects and all the fabrication needed for the TT setup. After which if I'm am satisfied with this setup I can then move to more "name brand" type turbines because the fab work will be done then.. The idea here is to build a working TDC TT system that can be applied to another TDC engine. A template if you will.. I can then create a build sheet that includes specs and so forth for later possible marketing out of my Fabrication shop. This project is part of a bigger picture behind the scenes from this car forum. It's called being diversified....

It's alright guys, I can only imagine it would be the same for the v8 guys in a v10 or v12 car site.:dunno: I have the equiptment and the resorces to build whatever I choose. Yes it can cost more to build a v6 to hit v8 type power, but if that was any real concern to me I would build a v8.. No offense to anyone that's just how it is.. I'd don't know that I'd use the word gay. Though a better name plate would have been nice. The 24 valve engine had compareable power to many v8 powered cars of the time.. With a driver mod and a munchie 5spd (unique to only w-bodies and fiero) they could easily see a 0-60 gaunt in just under 7 seconds which is still considered quick today relative to it's weight and lack of 2 more cylinders.. The prototype DTC was only 10 hp less than an lt1 offered in the 93 Z28. The problem was there was NO front wheel drive tranny that cold hold the motor except the muncie getrag 284. Today Fiero guys reutinely bolt v8 to them.. The z34 is often mistaken as the same as the standard option 4dr lumina. They are not. The 90-93 z34 came with a sport handling suspention more plush interiors, power everything execept mirrors, and of course the TDC, and body moldings.. The bodies anti rust warrenty lasted a decade and mine still has none.. Just before the end of the 1st gen production run, the "euro" lumina offered the TDC engine. The TDC was totally built by Chevrolet and the other GM branches wanted it except Buick.. They stuck with the 3800 and had to stick a SC on production engines to achieve TDC power. My 3800-II in my 01 Camaro was hardly much of a match for my TDC stock. The 3800 has torque but only about 5 foot lbs more and the TDC could walk away from it in about 60 ft and equally so in the 1/4 mile.. And you'd never rev a stock 3800 to 7-7200 rpm without the motor scattering. The 3800 series engines have been replaced with 60* v6's which is what the TDC is. New Camaro runs a 300+ hp 60* v6 and is an N/A motor too... I understand people don't like them or whatever, but I do, and they don't have to ride in or drive it..;)

lol. I hope to get the rest of the aluminum stock in the next week here. Then on to fabrication of the intake manifold. Next start with exhaust fab, and on to engine bay fab work for battery relocation and charge pipe work and intercooler mounting. Fuel system up grades, etc etc.. Then final harness wiring for the stand alone and the all important fire up, tune, and break in.. Sounds like a lot and well it is. But not hard to do just teadious(sp)..:drunk2:

im sorry your going thru so much crap over this build. me being a ex lumina z34 collector per say (4 lumina z's) i can respect the build. i think it is bad ass what your doing, and designing for these cars. these cars, imo have awesome body lines, and are damn good cars. i wouldnt mind picking up another lumina z sometime in the future. they are down right good running/cofortable cars. so kudos to you smittro, keep up the awesome fab work and skills

My 3800-II in my 01 Camaro was hardly much of a match for my TDC stock. The 3800 has torque but only about 5 foot lbs more and the TDC could walk away from it in about 60 ft and equally so in the 1/4 mile.. And you'd never rev a stock 3800 to 7-7200 rpm without the motor scattering. The 3800 series engines have been replaced with 60* v6's which is what the TDC is. New Camaro runs a 300+ hp 60* v6 and is an N/A motor too... I understand people don't like them or whatever, but I do, and they don't have to ride in or drive it..;)

Oh and don't get me started on intake gasket leaks.. I've got a thread on just this subject on my 3800.. I also seem to remember this issue with the plastic intakes on the fwd 3800 ..:)

Here's a new one with my old ones..(3800) The areas where the rubber viens are missing sre for coolant passages on my motor with around 80k + on it..

My experience its still 2:1 in favor of the 60* and not on the good side of that ratio :lmao:
Solid set of springs and they'll do 7 just fine. Though most cams max out by 6700 so its pointless

Not if you had them custom cut..:naughty: and not on the old TDC's the newer ones had springs designed to float @ 6700 and above..
Also the gaskets have been revised so that leaking thing is a thing of the far past and engines that are still running stock gaskets. Also the new gaskets for the 3800's have metal inside of them now.. Hmmm wonder where they may have got that idea from?..:lol:

I like your thinking on the springs for the 3800 though I'm not sure what cam or springs to go with yet when that project goes on.. I'm thinking forged crank and a set of "pinks" for that one too..

Gm went to metal gaskets for everything a couple years ago. They all got them at the same time unless you go after market and still get crappy plastic gaskets from Fel Pro.
As far as the cam comment I meant 3800 cams. No forged cranks that I know of for 3800s though I haven't been following as closely as I once did.
I've seen a 3400 leak even with the revised gaskets :lol: That was about 3 years ago though so maybe they've come out with a better revision since then

hmmm 274" GTP

Some of the materials arrived today. The 4.5"x 3" x20" aircraft aluminum tube, and the 24"x24"x 1/4" alloy for the new engine face/acc plate.

The tube will be cut/drilled, and machined into a new upper intake manifold. The alloy will get some of the same to relocate and mount, ps pump, alt....
