I walked by her today and :sulk:
looked at it while walking past it in the garage, wishing i had my new transmission
Suspended full coverage -- which officially puts her up for the winter. :(
I installed my passenger solid motor mount. For some reason I can't seem to maneuver the drivers in the space. Anyone have any thoughts? Also how high is too high when jacking the engine up?
Yep. They just drop a portion of the coverages as it is not being driven.
I had a tough time lining mine up in the new K-member. Took both me and my brother, a big ass pry bar, and patience to get the driver side mount in place.
You can loosen the K-member bolts (6) and drop it down a bit. Just be careful.
Went to a cruise in & this thing had to park next to me...

yes in that it will give you a little more room to lift the engine& trany.
After you get it all back together and you lose your OP pressure reading you need to check the OPSU. Those crack very easy and are in a spot to get crushed easy by lifting the motor.
What you doing it to it!? Good news I hope?
Put my baby up on blocks for winter storage.
I wish it was for something good http://www.ls1.com/forums/f6/help-170018/#post2818380
:lmao: don't worry it didn't get even.....it got ahead.....
Finally was able to get the drivers side motor mount in. The bottom is threaded, all I need to do now is line up the top and thread them in. Then tighten down all the bolts!
Good work. If at first you don't succeed... apply more force. :chuckles:
I am not sure how I am going to get them to line up though. The holes on the mount that mounts to the engine are further back than the holes in the block. How does one push the engine back? I am guessing a pry bar but I am not exactly sure on how to pry it.....
One thing I've notice with the heads & headers off the engine mounts look very easy to get at.
Looked at the rims peaking out from under the cover, made sure the charger was still plugged in and sighed because spring isn't here yet...
ordered a few more turbo related parts and wish i could order an entire cam hit lol
Broke my windshield on Friday....having it replaced today :brick:
how much was the windshield, if you dont mind me asking, mines needing replaced too
I was first going to ask where you are...but I see your in my Mom's bedroom :growl: lol
I shopped around...first found SafeLite for 285.00. A local place for 272.00, 370.00 and then 185.00 to 225.00. The place I'm going to Merrillville Auto Glass seems to be the cheapest. Our problem is the trim, 95% of the time it will need to be replaced. If he can work with it and try to save my trim my cost is 185.00 if not 225.00. The windshield itself I was told only cost 75.00.
So do yourself a favor and shop around. Try to find a place that does glass, not "Joe's Auto Shop". Glass is glass, It's all in how they seal it. Find someone who knows how to do it rather then some random auto shop that says "I can do it"
Picked up my car today. New windshield, 192.00. And will finish installing strut tower brace. Which is how I broke my windshield to begin with :Pow:
Replaced stock fog lights w/ 6K HID's. Been a busy day/week here.
Changing all rotors to slotted/cross drilled tomorrow. Would love to do more but, money and weather are stopping me. Come springtime....I hope to have my wish list complete.
Drove it, did a burn out, got gas then out it back in the garage. Getting ready for the new heads and cam.
Nope....Merrillville Auto Glass on Mississippi. I didn't think 192.00 was all that bad. They also replaced the trim. So the glass cost 80.00, the trim kit was 20.00. 80.00 in labor and 7.00 in tax. If Broadway can beat that, I can't see them doing it for much less. But I will call them today just to fulfill my curiosity.
Thanks for that info 35th. My daughter needs hers replaced too (she just told me hers is broken) so I will be calling them as soon as they open today.
Just called them....185.00 +tax. So roughly the same. As for my daughters. 159.00 +tax (01 Grand Am). I will be seeing them sometime today to have my windows tinted.
Paying to replace a windshield...? Do you not have full coverage that covers glass? I haven't had an issue ever getting mine replaced for the $50 deductible even when it was something I did!
If that is your comprehensive deductible then I am sorry! Knock your comprehensive down to $50 or $100. I have a windshield replaced about once a year on my truck since the roads in Northern Michigan suck in the winter! It shouldn't add but a couple of dollars to drop your comp down. Off my soap box, moving on...
Comprehensive = vandalism, glass etc
Collision = Accident where body and mechanical damages are incurred.
And... if you guys want to talk insurance. Uninsurance and underinsurance are what protects you. Liability only protects the other guy. If you have multiple vehicles go with the stacked option. Limited tort versus full tort (like here in PA), do yourself a favor and go with full tort. Lecture over.
So I finally let the mod bug get to me. When I bought the car, to my knowledge, everything was stock minus the magnaflow catbacks. Today I ordered a lid, strut tower brace, and I'm waiting on the weather to clear up to put my new exhaust tips on it....
I've already made a list of all the other parts I'm planning on buying...I guess this is how it starts huh? Haha
Got her washed up and filled her up with 93 :D
I do know the difference between comp, collision and liability...Just thought there might be something different for glass repairs.
Limited tort versus full tort? Not sure what that means. I do have multiple vehicles including my bike..Stacked?? These are terms I'm not familiar with.
I need to buy a Trans Am so I can contribute to this thread.
youd haveto have penis enlargement surgery lol
Hahahaha ^^^
In Pennsylvania, you have to elect a "tort" option. Limited tort insurance is cheaper, but you give up your right to bring a lawsuit in the event of an accident unless you suffer SBI -- serious bodily injury. This is generally defined as death, disfigurement, loss of function, loss of use, broken bones, etc. The problem is that many people suffer from soft tissue injuries in accidents, ie. cervical acceleration-deceleration syndrome, more commonly known as whip lash. A person could suffer from pain the rest of their life, but is precluded from bringing an action to recover damages for pain and suffering. Full tort insurance, which costs more, has no such limitation.
Stacking applies when you have multiple vehicles. If I carry liability of 100,000/300,000 on each vehicle, which means $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident, I can also add uninsurance (UM) and underinsurance (UIM) of equal, but not greater, limits to protect myself. Uninsurance applies if you get taken out by a driver with no insurance (way too many of them out there) and underinsurance applies if you get taken out by a driver that carries low limits. In PA, you are only required to carry 15,000/30,000, which these days can go up in smoke in a hurry in medical bills unless you have good first party benefits or health insurance. With multiple vehicles, you can "stack" your coverages, which simply means add them all up and that is your total insurance coverage for your UM and UIM. We have 6 vehicles on our policy now with stacked coverages, so I have available $600,000.00 in coverage for us if we get wiped out in an accident by another driver.
First Party medical is nice as it is "free money" -- meaning you do not have to pay it back out of the proceeds from any lawsuit. This is as opposed to your primary health insurance that is going to bring a subrogation action to be reimbursed for what it is out. With the cost of health care, medical bills running into 6 digits is not difficult to achieve in a serious accident.
Wade was just pointing out the fact that he had to undergo a penis extension before buying his car.
welded up my hotside on my rearmount turbo section

Nicely done. Are you tuning this beast or farming that out?
tune will be done probly lext week. this was just so i could take it home and fit everything else up. I unbolted it off the car once it was welded and bolted into place. its completly adjustabel down to the tips so i can get it to sit just right. i still gotta clock te turbo a bit but its really close to be up and running. should be donw within a a couple weeks. next is to get that damn intercooler in the bumper lol thats litterlay the hardest part to get in there lol
Got my slp lid in the mail today, so I put it on. Actually has a nice fit which surprised me since that's the biggest complaint I hear about them.
Set all the parts next to it, until next month when I'll have the chance to tear it down.
got a nice polish and wax done by profressionals. car came out GORGIOUS!!! :) just didnt have the right tools to get the paint to freshen up. its a 98 thats been to in texas a few times so it needed it lol
Did a 2-day buff job, went into the shop for a lil welding repair on the drivers side window track. Then off to get windows tinted on Thurs. Since we have no need to roll the windows down anytime soon with this weather, figured the time was right.
Pulled the cover off, disconnected the battery charger and warmed it up! Oh how I miss the smell of raw exhaust!
ive been lucky so far and its just now happend and it wasnt even that bad. im guessing that GM put better nylon gears in 98 lol im thinking the grinding was more from debree then stripped gears cause it wouldnt always do it. ill do the passenger one when it goes out. i actually could have done the 180 degree trick and probaly would have worked too but i just got the brass one to call it a day. was a PITA though to get that back mounting nut and bolt.
The guy I bought my car from had installed new motors on mine. He put the pivoting arm on backwards and the first time I threw up the lights it shredded the gear in the motors... Thanks dumbass! I found that popping them up when you have the two bolts on the support removed made it much easier to do.
Lowering springs came in. Ordered my adjustable PHB and LCA relocation brackets from Founders Performance. As soon as the weather warms up, the rear bearings are coming out, new PHB, LCA relocations brackets and lowering springs are getting installed. Anyone in the market for a "Like New" PHB from Founders Performance? Installed it last year and I'm sure it didn't even see the road.

Realized what the reflective tape was for. Now there's no more glow from the top or bottom!
damn that sucks, yeah i found that its easier to set it when they are up. was a PITA to get right though. my wrist still hurts from that damn bezel screw on the side lol
lol yep
i became a pro at changing my side markers before i rewired the light sockets with new ones lol havnt had anymore water shortage issues lol
Woo Hoo... Christmas! Waiting on my adjustable PHB and we're in business. http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/...psa53995a4.jpg
I just received my engine removal plate! Now I need to finish putting together my engine hoist and I can remove my engine.
:cool2: Nice!
:fap::fap:
Painted my lid. I actually cut out everything and painted it so that it would last longer.

J - grab some DEI heat reflective tape to wrap those starter wires. I used it to wrap the harness on my wideband and a couple of other things on our car.
That's some thick cable coming off the starter...
Started it up, backed it out of the garage, warmed it up, swept the salt and mud off the garage floor from my wife's car and picking up the salamander tonight. Tomorrow morning will bring disassembly of and removal of the LCA's, PHB and shocks. Installing relocation brackets and lowering spring along with poly bushings on the struts. Then pulling the bearings and axles to evaluate the damage! Sounds like a good Saturday to me!
put the bumper back on and put the car on the ground for preliminary drive after turbo install :)
primed and block sanded it, http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...psea150f17.jpg
