You'll get better. More practice = more experience.
On street tires you can't launch at 4500 and expect to move. More like you'll spin. Next time try launching like you would when a light turns and you have to get on it. About a 2500-2800 rpm range. Your 60ft times will be much better.
You'll move but not so much that the tires break loose. Get it into 2nd and 3rd WOT...
Any rear suspension mods yet? LCA's & TA will help a lot.

1/8 mile tracks are like a premature ejaculation, too quick and then it's done, not as much fun that way lol.
Street tires, stock suspension and no track prep -- those 60' times are probably about right. Only thing you could do is drop the air pressure in the rear tires into the 20 - 25 psi range. May as well inflate the front tires to around 40 psi as well for less rolling resistance. The stock tires have almost no sidewall so you have to soften them up to get more bite at the line.
Yes, nice to do things legally. Not that anything on the trip back was legal. I had a buddy of mine with a 383 stroker in his 88 GTA following me back home. 1/8 mile was a good learning experience on the tree. It's hard to fine a 1/4 mile close to us up here in Northern Michigan. We're going to try it again on a real 1/8 track this weekend.Quote:

I change my rear shocks over to bilstein. While I was installing the new ones, one of the old ones exploded oil all over the garage floor. Never had a shock do that before.
Also installed the short throw shifter.

Looks great! I don't believe that I have ever noticed hood insulation on our cars -- is that specific to the sleak beak or certain model years?
My 1998 sleak beak had it too, I always loved the Arrowhead in the insulation also. Maybe it's just a 98 thingQuote:

Installed my Katech C5-R timing chain and properly aligned the cam and crank gears. Funny the first time it was pissing me off but it was really hot out. Then I went out when it was cooler and got it done in half the time :lol:.

now im gonna have to get my bumper painted,that means finding a shop to paint it RIGHT from what i've heard pewter isnt an easy color to match
Sorry to hear that..yeah our bumpers arent the easiest to match either cause of the material ,If they dont use the right amount of ''flex'' the paint will chip of easy.

So I ordered center mount valve covers for my 243 heads and the order got mixed up and as a result I got some free stuff. I got a new front and rear cover. I will still be getting my valve covers too. I was kinda surprised the seller didn't want them back.
Worked on cleaning the etchings off my wheels caused from the tire cleaner I used. Then, I got one of those do it yourself AC charging kits and found my system was over pressurized. Once I released a bunch out of the valve, I recharged with a couple fresh cans of coolant and the bitch cools like it was new. And to think I went all summer thinking my AC unit required service from a professional, as I thought the compressor or something expensive was at fault.

So I finally got my oil pickup tube bolt installed, that is a pain in the fucking ass. Especially when your jacks go up only 14" off the ground. Now I can actually get my car back together.
Started it up, drove it around the block and put it back. Road worthy and ready to head home tomorrow! Whoo hooo!

Saw the sun was out so I took the cover off, disconnected the batter charger fired it up and drove it for work today. There's just something about the feeling of getting in it and starting it up after it's sat for a month or so that is energizing!

Driving Too Fast to work today, and maybe for a fun 200 or so miles this weekend. Supposed to be upper 60s and no rain.
Complained, because of my cars annoying habit of not starting if she's parked facing uphill. So I had to put her in neutral, coast backwards a few feet till she was level...then start her up. No idea where to even begin diagnosing that issue.
After that went for a drive that was cut way too short by a sandstorm...

Opened the door to the garage and said you need a bath you filthy pig and closed the door. If it wasn't pouring outside I would have treated her to a nice rub down. Working on getting the interior cleaned up for storage and getting the garage organized to make some room.
Opened the garage door and to my amaze the car wouldn't start. Did the basic walk around and found the fuel pump has died. Winter is here and I guess it's time to park it.
Walked by it with the cover on it and wished there wasn't snow on the ground and it was 30 degree's out.
Walked passed the driver side going to work,walked passed the passenger side coming in from work

If any body is interested, I now have for sale a "Wolf" brand outdoor car cover for sale and the convertible 3-piece plastic cover set w/ storage bag, in new condition as the only time I ever used the plastic covers was when I went to the T/A Nats. Drove her yesterday, 252 miles, 35 minutes idleing/stop and go in one section to go 2.5 miles, 30 or so city miles and STILL only used 9.8 gallons, a bit better than 25 MPG. Waxed her last weekend and getting compliments on how clean she is.
Daily driving her is fun but miles are starting to rack up quick :( got asked by 3 different guys if I'm selling it... Crazy people...
Started removing the motor mounts to replace them with spohn performance solids. I have all of the bolts out except the ones attached to the block as of now. The passenger side is infinitely easier to get to the bolts when you have no HVAC system in the car!
Took Dawn out to lunch and drove around 80 miles. It was a good day. :)
Did the Berger bumper mod. Also, wetsanded and re VHT'd my tails.
took it home and tucked it in for the winter..... checked my mileage, and running 80-85 on the interstate, one trip down in to the city to pick my sister up and buy booze, definately was not easy on it, as i was wanting to play as much as i could before it was put up for the winter, and still averaged it out to 29.2 mpg..... YEE YEE!
Bought a pair of used Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires on eBay for the front of my car. Apparently they have 2500 miles on them, are 1.5 years old and I saved about $125-$150 for the pair compared to a new pair from TireRack. Hopefully they look as nice in person as they do in the pics.
Also put my car up on jack stands and its stored away for the winter. :(
