Ron... you are right.
I am sure the correct headers will do the job and i would be more than happy with this outcome
but i am afraid i will lose out money wise in this episode somehow, but i shouldn't

Well guys,
I will sleep happier tonight!
I have just finished a good long call to Lonnie, one of the sales/tech guys
at TSP and straight away he put his hands up. :bravo:
He looked through this thread from a link i included in an email to him and all i
could hear was " oh my lord" and the like coming down the line. he was very
impressed that a 2010 Camaro header was successfully fitted to a 2002 f body!!!
After talking with his manager, he is UPS-ing a fresh set of correct headers straight
away. A real no quibble, step up to the plate phone call... very happy!!
I will say again.... you lot have it made with no international shipping with it often being
FREE shipping!!! happy though that i have the wherewithal to drive something
interesting even though it keeps me poor!
I still would appreciate somebody here being able to show me some pics of their TSP headers
fitted as i would be able to reference them when i get cracking once again!
Trev :yay:
I was also thinking that maybe they sent you a set of headers for a truck from the pics you posted. Never thought about them being 5th gen headers. Thank goodness they took care of this.
It's really unfortunate that you already have hacked up on the frame and motor mounts. Thats something you cant bring back to stock form. Oh well, I guess we can all chalk it up to a lesson learned. If something looks WAY off from what it should be, then it probably is. I guess the only positive note is that the correct headers will definitely slide right in with all the extra clearance you know have.
Hey Ron,
In hindsight i suppose we should have thought "way off, something wrong" but
you would never expect them to be totally the wrong headers, would you?
The supplied headers looked ok... We just thought we were dealing with shonky
Chinese alignment at the manufacturing stage. Also, where people on the net have
reported all sorts of individual but differing tweaks being needed with all makes of header
we just thought "OK, that guy said he needed to grind a bit here... this guy said he needed
to loosen that part. Just assumed it was a version of this where things needed a tweak and
a shove to fit.... Seems not!
The Passenger side piece that was removed can go back in and look stock as it was a clean
cut with no hacking about. Also... if needed a motor mount can be replaced, eh?! (pass. side
motor mount escaped unscathed!) I'm not really bothered at all with these small areas and integrity
has not been compromised.
Nope... the infuriating part is incorrect supply of parts with no accurate reference from anything or anyone
to suggest or tell us they were wrong, so we naturally assumed they were right!!?
But like Jeff above says... They were straight in with apologies and promises of reparation and the
new set are already at DFW boarding a plane!! So they are to be commended for fast work.
:)
think my oil pressure sending unit is starting to go out...oil was jumping around all over the place this morning. Guess I'll add that one to the list of things to do...
Surprised TSP sent you the right ones with no issue all my experiences with their customer service sucks and essentially tell me it is my fault for not checking blah blah blah.
Well Will,
Not able to comment on your experience with them but
Lonnie there... he was as good as gold and like i said above
the new set are on a plane already!
I wonder how long ago your dealings with them were, Will?
I have to say everybody i have talked to there seem fine?
I guess this happens in all areas of life though....
Trev :)
Glad it is working out for you.
Yeah my issue was maybe a year ago and they essentially called me stupid for something that was their fault. I was asking about a build I was planning. I guess they didn't want my money. So I only buy from them if I either can't find it somewhere else or for around the same price or less. The WS6 store and Tick Performance get most of my money since their customer service is great especially when compared to my experience with Texas Speed.
Unfortunately, you'll likely be replacing a motor mount next. Glad you got it all squared away though.
I agree. Might as well pop in a set of "prothane" mounts in there while the headers are out. That way they are good forever.
Well...
All makes perfect sense on the face of it to do what you suggest but here's the thing.
I purchased all of the headers and Y in the US and all the other bits and pieces because
nobody here would either have a clue what i wanted or maybe would say "yeah,
we can get that for you it will be this extortionate sum and will be three weeks minimum!
If i checked out sellers and went all through the " sending to my bud in Indiana" route (to
smooth the sending over of the mounts if you get my drift?) i would still have a couple of weeks
minimum to wait and then i would get fleeced at the customs here again! :cuss:
You guys are laughing with your next day deliveries and free shipping!! :brick::ahh:
It's just is a chore for me and easy for you.......
That's why the stock mounts will remain as i have to get the headers in directly they arrive
as i am off work right now so unable to set things aside for any delays!!
Not meant as a rant, just saying how it is, unfortunately!
But, nonetheless..... I choose to drive a Trans am and not a Honda or Toyota box....
:yup:
That truly does suck, and I get what you're saying about the time factors. What a shame everything is such a hassle there. Almost seems like a very good business opportunity to open up a speed shop somewhere in your neck of the woods. Huummmmmmm.
Sorry I haven't been around to add anything to the convo lately, I'm chilling on the beach all week! ;) I am more than willing to put the car in the air and take some pics when I get home next week though if you would still like some. I am sure that there are some shots of the headers before installation on my blog site but I don't remember if there are any after the install.
I appreciate the offer Chris, but all being well the replacements ( CORRECT ONES!)
will be going in over the weekend.
Time will tell though on that. It will be nice to get this job wrapped up!
:)
I'd say it's time for some new plugs and wires...guess I get to do that this weekend.
Took her to North Georgia this weekend and had some fun in the mountains. She's turning into a regular mountain carver lol
Snagged a pic before we hit the mountains...

Well,
What i did to the car today was breathe a sigh of relief!!!
The correct headers showed up at my door.... after waiting in all day
for the man in brown.... but i STILL had time to get to my buds shop
and with the car in the air we excitedly offered them up and they all but
fell in and once temporarily buttoned up with about three bolts per side
we could see that the Kooks Y will marry up really nicely :) :)
The correct TSP headers have zero clearance issues and i just wish the fools
at TSP had sent the correct ones in the first place. I would be finished and
driving long before now..... :brick:
OK... there will be a little tweak here and there and i will have to weld the
Magnaflow cats to the Y pipe tubes but all in all a good day and once i
have welded the cats onto the Y early tomorrow we will be able to complete the job
tomorrow!!
So... I saved myself around $180 by buying the ORY and cats separately and i
would venture that if the cost was not an option and i HAD bought the Kooks
catted Y it would mate up to a TSP set of headers very well with minimal
trimming or tweaks!
Very pleased with the progress :)
I'll post a few pics and maybe a vid of the end result!!
:yay::yay:
Test fitted the fitment of the 335s. They technically fit but I will clearance for breathing room but I don't think I'll need a spacer.
